Henk is 63 years old and a professional Opera singer of a Baritone, he did MANY operas through his life and some other things. He's the professional's professional when on stage but behind the scenes he jokes around. Really cool guy. For Opera singers, having any distortion in their vocals is a HUGE no-no. For THIS performance, Henk put the distortion in because the cover that Disturbed did of this song is Floor's favorite version. On this night, it was Floor's turn on the couch. Both of the other ladies on the show this season made Floor cry. ALL of the performers, at least from this season, are worth watching.

After SO many vocal coaches and time.., you are the Only Coach who is ("terecht" -that is is a Dutch word-) amazed that his shoulders don't move. I find that unbelievable, because it ís unbelievable! For me.., you are the best Vocal Coach. And not only for this.

Henk Poort is a 63 year old opera singer. He went out if his comfort zone (the whole idea of this show) by using distortion, which was the first time for him. By the way the water does not always work. I drink a lot but cannot sing at all 😀🤘🤘

Henk Poort is one of Floors idols in music theatre, opera, operetta, the reason for his nervous behaviour during this episode was due to the fact he never tried to sing with distortion. Oh, one last thing, he is classified as a Baritone. The last episode Henk and Floor will perform the Phantom of the Opera... that should be something special.

That is what Henk does, he brings you to tears with his performance and lovely personality 😁

amazingly he isnt even using earbuds, he has got so much experience and knowledge of his voice that the doesnt even need those

Henk is Floor's idol since she's 12 and the reason she decided to study classical music. Henk Poort was the Dutch Phantom of the Opera back in the 90s. He also used distortion for this song. FYI he has NEVER used distortion before this show when he learned it for when Floor "assigned" him Disturbed's Sound of Silence song to sing. The Dutch show Beste Zangers is not a competition, but rather a group of professional singers getting together in a relaxed setting to sing each other's songs or songs that have special meaning.

She started singing opera becauce of this man she had seen him in the phantum of the opera ( he had the part of the phantum himself ) and she was saying to her self .. i want to do that to so because of him she started the operaschool and became the floor she is today by studying and practice and that made her perfect ( she is fxxcking brilliant ) and she adores henk

Floor is a big fan of Henk. He is the most famous Dutch opera-singer. He starred in about 30 opera's, around 10 musicals (including Phanthom of the Opera), and some 25 Operetta's. This was the very first time he gave his voice distortion, so this performance is already historical...

That's what floored me (pun intended). Going cold into layering heavy fry (even if only for a couple of passages) or overtones can be dicey. Not necessarily from an increased risk of damage to the folds, but transitioning smoothly back into modal register and staying on key can be a major crapshoot when you're first working with it. I give Henk 5 Draimans out of 5.

she saw him as a child when he was the phantom in phantom of the opera, so he was the 1 person she was starstruck of meeting in this show.

He took that version from David Draiman of Disturbed 2015 and a live performance from the late show Conan 3/28/2016, Though Henk done it good as well.. and David is on cantor during his younger years..you’ll never believed what kind of a band David has.. Disturbed....uhh wah ah ah ah?😉

He has such a powerful voice, no wonder he is one of great opera singer out there.

Hank knows how to vocal fry safely without destroying his voice. Starting with a clean powerful voice first, then lean into that sound little by little, working it up to as distorted as he wishes. And then right back to clean again

Hi Nephi, I love your reaction and your descriptions of his technique! Thank you so much! Henk is my original Phantom of the Opera (someone finally put the cd of that on youtube, to hear him in his comfort zone - not that he needs it, I love him out of it just as much or more !!!) but he basically launched Broadway productions in the NLs singlehandedly in that part. Anyway as for the pronunciation: our vowels are very throaty and dark, but Henk is like Hank with the 'e' as in there. Poort rhymes with Lord, but make it slightly longer and darker. An extra letter elongates the vowel. (Jansen, btw, since I'm talking Dutch pronunciation, has an a as in palm, and a j as the "y" in "you". "Yahn"sen, as opposed to "Jen" as in Jennifer.)
