Great reaction - and Su-metal has the same mindset as you when it comes to connecting with the lyrics of a song. For her solo song 'No Rain, No Rainbow' (that is a BABYMETAL ballad you may want to hear) she first performed it in June 2013, so nearly a year before the first album was released, but she was not satisfied that she had the life experience to connect emotionally with the song and she was not prepared to record it yet ... she was still only 15, but she got her way. Only at a later performance when she saw people in the audience crying did she realise her voice could effect people so much. She was connecting with the lyrics, no longer focusing on just getting them right and hitting the right notes ... she recorded the song for the second album, released in 2016. The Legend S Baptism XX performance of 'No Rain, No Rainbow' is the best performance if you want to do another reaction (it does get blocked a lot, so adding watermarks and taking whatever other measures might be necessary would be advisable ... or just watch it in your own time if you are curious). Other slower songs where you can really appreciate Su-metal's vocals included 'The One - Stairway to Living Legend', 'The One' unfinished version - another First Take performance, but it is very much a shortened version, but it is also the first video where we got to hear the new member Momometal singing too. 'Akatsuki' unfinished version from the Legend 1997 concert in December 2013, a one-off performance of an acoustic version of another solo song. This First take video for 'Monochrome' was released before the official announcement of Momometal becoming the third member, so it was just Su and Moa in this one - plus the 3 backing vocalists dressed in white. There are some theories about them and we can probably have a good guess at who they were, but I think the fact they were dressed in white was the significant point. BABYMETAL have worn white costumes twice before and they were are significant transitional points in their history. - The first time was for the last two encore songs at their Legend Z concert in 2013 ... that was their final concert when they were a sub-unit of the Idol group Sakura Gakuin and was immediately before they separated from SG to become an independent band. -The second time was at Legend 1997 in December 2013 where Yui and Moa wore white for the concert opening. Legend 1997 was all about their transition from Idol group sub-unit to independent band, but even more about Suzuka Nakamoto sacrificing her human life and existence as a JPop Idol to be reborn as Su-metal, a Metal Goddess. So here we are and they are transitioning again with the "new" BABYMETAL about to be announced with Momometal as a new member and once again they have white costumes - but this time it is the backing singers in white and there is every chance they are the members of the new 'Metalverse' group as well ... but I have no knowledge about that worth repeating, I'm just waiting to see what happens next.

Su is currently 25 ❤ she always had an incredible voice but her ability to express emotions with her voice has so much improved over the years. The three hooded figures provided the backing vocal in the "oh oh oh" parts and were never revealed. With their recent shows and the addition of a younger band "Metalverse" during those I would speculate that they were probably there, but as always, OTFGK xd

@@htusda1 That is correct. Chibi-metal, aka "Metalverse", is the new sub-group from BABYMETAL. There is nothing confirmed just yet, but some are speculating that they may take up singing a lot of the older BABYMETAL songs from the debut album and Metal Resistance. Others think they may be doing their own thing with original songs, but I lean more towards the former. Why have them performing original BM songs on stage with Su, Moa, and Momoko in roughly similar outfits with the old red & black color scheme if they aren't going to be basically a cover band? This would also allow BM to continue to do new music with more mature themes (note: I don't mean sexual in anyway) while keeping their old music going. That said, I personally feel like Amuse/Koba are completely missing the boat on this one. Most fans around the world want to continue to hear the original/older music of a band along with new stuff because of the nostalgia they get from it and how they felt the first time they heard it. So putting the older songs with a new sub-group isn't going to go well, ultimately, in my opinion. Then again, I've been wrong before. We shall see, or in our normal BM cadence...OTFGK.

This performance was kind of surprising to a lot of people, not that it would be as good as it was, we all know the Queen kills it every time, but because it allowed Su to display a level of technicality and vocal subtlety that she rarely gets to show with Babymetal's more typically bombastic songs. For a singer who is most known for her vocal power (the reason Koba chose her in the first place), its awesome to see what she can do when she gets to focus completely on singing and not having to worry about doing anything else, like she typically has to on stage. Su-metal is 25 currently, which means that she has been the lead singer of Babymetal for more than half her life (Babymetal began when she was 12), and she was in another idol group (Karen Girls) as a 10 year old before being chosen to front Babymetal.

Welcome back to the Foxhole and now with the new metalverse era🦊🤘🌐 It's been a while, you're really get us waiting for you but I'm glad to see you're back with this song, hopefully you'll come back and share the live version at Makuhari Messe 2023 of this beautiful song, or just the official lyrics will be fine if you got trouble finding that. BM fans already know this type of unique acoustic version like Akatsuki Unfinished Version live at Legend 1997 or "The One - Stairway To Living Legend", so we're used to this SuMetal's vocals power to reach and melting our hearts, she's 25 but like i said she's been doing this since being a toddler. Also fans at Sabaton's Europe Tour were enjoying the original version of this song at every show and having a magical moment. The three white figures dressed in white are probably a reference to old BM era when YuiMetal was still part of the group or maybe a reference to the new young BM unit they previously performed along with them and are part of this new metalverse project, we'll probably get more info from this next month at Summer Sonic Festival when this Metalverse project will be opening the festival but if wanna know more about them i suggest you: - Doki Doki Morning live at Makuhari Messe 2023, NLMetal got this clip with watermarked logo safe to react. The girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the BM producer, for your serendipity. Some 13 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are certainly homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls. Regarding her lower register, it's obvious how much work she has put in to getting her natural high register power and precision there as well. If you listen to 2014-2016 live performances, there are some notes that she hits perfectly but you can faintly hear a struggle to hold and/or express power in the tone. It's all smooth in 2021-2023. The song Monochrome is from around 5 years ago, per an interview some months ago now, and the album track may have actually been recorded back then. Su- herself has said she thought of it as a somewhat light song. She said she was surprised at fan interpretations regarding Hiroshima (which seem to be mostly inspired by the lyric video). Because of its age it is very likely the song predates Mikio's passing and certainly before Yui left. Remember also, the song was not written by the members so is unlikely about their direct/family experience. BTW, typo above, Mikio was into astronomy, not astrology.

Thank you for the BABYMETAL reaction video😚 I have several people who I consider to be music in and of themselves. In Japan today, there are SU-METAL and drummer Yoyoka Soma(13 years old. She emigrated to the U.S.) and the blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. Besides this piano ver, monochrome has an official music video and a live performance, so please check them out. You will get a different impression. My personal interpretation of "monochrome" is, Since SU is from Hiroshima, the song is about the events of WW2 while wishing for peace (the music video is reminiscent of that). The fact that the piano ver. shows 3 people dressed in white (symbolizing Su, Moa, and Yui), it is a song about completely parting ways with YUIMETAL by becoming the new BABYMETAL. This is my imagination and I may be wrong. However, the good thing about BM is that it provides us with a lot of material to think about in this way. I hope you continue to enjoy BM a lot! Woah, you sure talk fast! One of the great things about Su's voice is her use of gaps. It's undoubltably a taught part of her vocalisation. And _so_ important. Just pointing it out. Suzuka was born in Hiroshima, this song is about a girl who survived the bomb and then died due to it at the age of 14. So you are correct to feel sadness on it.

If you mean Suzuka, she did not write this song. She did write the lyrics for ‘Divine Attack’, which is also on ‘THE OTHER ONE’ album.

First time seeing your reaction, but it was a great one. Thanks for the insight of a singer on the parts of this! In the comments I've read so far I'm shocked no one has brought this up...this song, Monochrome, is - as I'm to understand it, but could be incorrect - about the dropping of the atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, which is Su's hometown. She has always had very strong feelings about the use of the atomic bomb to end the war even as a girl, and really has a deep emotional connection with any song about it. She is also connected even deeper because one of her grandfathers or great-grandfathers actually survived the bombing! I believe this song, as well as the song No Rain, No Rainbow, are both about the bombing. While NR, NR has always been a ballad, this has not. It very much was released on the album as a metal song, but this version has really gripped fans and people discovering them as just an absolutely beautiful version.

She is 25 now. But she has been a pro for 15+ years. No one is sure who the robed white figures are. They are singing the oh oh oh background vocals and many believe they are supposed to represent the original 3 Babymetal members. Babymetal lost a member in 2018 (Yui) and they just announced a new third member, Momo, so maybe it represents the new 3rd member. It is Babymetal so OTFGK.

I saw them for the 3rd time last week...as much as I hope Yu metal is OK and happy, I couldn't not notice that the fans LOVE Momometal, like LOVE that she put in all the work as a backup Avenger but finally get herself the official spot. All the other times, people would yell out stuff about how they love Su or Moa and it was pretty mixed, but this time it was nothing but people screaming I LOVE YOU MOMOMETAL or I LOVE YOU MOMOKO!!! It's an underdog story you can't not root for, and Babymetal already spreads such joy and love to the world, like if you know, you know. They're the most unique act on Earth, and Su-Metal is easily one of the best performers in the world. The Kami Band deserves more daps, but I can tell they're having a blast getting to be the Kami Band, and I hope Babymetal sticks around for another 15 years.
