This really helped me when I couldn’t catch my bobbin thread today thank you!

Thank you so much for pointing out which direction to turn the hand wheel! I was having so much trouble figuring out how to get the thread to draw up, and turns out my problem was turning the wheel the wrong direction

Got this machine and I would never guess how to operate a bobbin, thank you for showing, really appreciate this video.

Great video, thank you. I have a 1954 401g (German) machine. I learnt about the very last slot on the needle bar, which I was unaware of. It may be worth noting, that the thread from the spool case needs to go under the foot, rather than through it. (Last frame of video) I use a card (old credit card) to slide under the raised foot, front to back, to pull both needle and bobbin threads to the back and slightly to the right, before sewing. 👍

The # 401G was made from 1961 to 1964 in Germany.. Not 1954 !!! Singer introduced the #401 to America in late 1956.. The Singer # 206 and 306 were the first zig zag machines ( 1952 and 1954 )..

i didn’t even know the thread would click in if i tugged on it thank you i was always looping it around the hook and thru the metal loop 🫠

I haven’t changed the thread much on mine so I’m sitting here thinking I’m missing a step with the bobbin. Turn out I missed a whole top section. Thank you for this helpful video~

I have a 401G. I never noticed the thread path was different. The 401G has a thread puller you run the tread through before the tension disks.

Make sure you lift the presser foot and pass the thread Between the two metal washers inside the tensioner. There is another video showing better this

Your bobbin thread seams to have jumped out of the tension guide

I have been sewing on mine for several years and never used that bottom catch right before needle threading. Hopefully that will improve my stitches. I also think my machine prefers the older class 66 bobbins, problem is I can't always tell the difference.

That's what I learned from this video. (bottom catch) I'm going to check the tension again, It may need to be reduced on the dial slightly. My stitches have been good but I have thought that my tension setting has looked a little high.

The only problem I'm seeing with this is. The tension assembly at the top. Right behind the knob you turn the Plat with the little bar coming off of it is supposed to be placed in the hole 🕳. Also all you have to do to bring the thread up through the bottom plate is thread your needle then turn the hand wheel to you until the needle goes down and comes back up and when it comes up it will catch the bobbin thread and pull it up through the 🕳

At 0:51 when she went down and under. I thought you were supposed to go underneath the bar where the number 6 is. Then come under and up the tiny tension spring?

@@jjcuna that is correct that's what she did in the video that tiny metal u shaped part that's coming out the left side of the tension mechanism is attached to the inner spring of the mechanism and was made for you to be able to push up to place the thread in the little hook thing. Exactly like what she shows in the video.

Does the thread go beyween tge disks of the tensiiner or along the very back of it?
