Singapore Last Kacang Puteh Man
A push cart stall in Singapore that have variety of snacks
Typo in prices, each cone cost $1.70 SGD / $1.25 USD
The Singapore Kacang Puteh man is similar to the Singapore ice cream man but there seem to be only one Kacang Puteh pushcart seller left in todays times

I love how carefully he makes and fills the cone - you can tell he puts effort into every single step and I think that’s beautiful

Let's not pretend that filling paper cones with store bought nuts is some high form of effort.

The way he carefully slowly fills the paper cones. Scoop by scoop, every motion is like a stroke of a paintbrush until he creates his masterpiece. I hope the video creator gave him a $50 tip for this privilege.

Too bad there seems to be only one Kacang Puteh pushcart seller left in Singapore. I give him credit for keeping this tradition alive.

In my early years, the kacang puteh man would put his assortment of nuts on a big round tray. And he would carry the big tray on his head and walk around the neighbourhood selling kacang puteh.
I like how he's using paper from an electrical circuit book ... all my years in electrical engineering and this is the best use of that book ... XD
Only 1 Kacang Puteh seller left? That's sad. I hope your video brings more visitors to his cart, or inspire others to start selling.
I like how these videos only use natural sound, no music
Sad this is the last one in Singapore; feels similar to the candied nuts stands we have in the US

Like the ones that pop up with roasted nuts in the winter, yes! The peanuts remind me of the boiled peanuts you find for sale in the Deep South.
This stall is the definition of late 90' kids childhood

Nuts and beans are some of my favorite snacks, really sad that the tradition of selling these in pushcarts is dying out. I'd have loved that, very nostalgic.
That looks yummy! Growing up, I remember roasted almond and peanut stalls being very popular in America, and you could get them covered in candy or sugar and cinnamon. They always smelled amazing!

I imagine the steamed peanuts taste like boiled peanuts. Something popular we do with them in the Southern U.S.
They have something similar to this in Jacksonville Florida at a flea market . When I was little I loved the sugar cinnamon roasted peanuts they were so good my mom preferred the boiled peanuts.

That is like the penny candy counter at the 5 and dime stare when I was a kid (long ago) lots of jars filed with tasty treats you put into a small paper bag. You could get a lot for a nickel back then. It is too bad that he is the last of a traditional entrepreneurs business.

It's just cheap, the environment is not on his concern list. Also there's no need to recycle paper since it's cellulose and so is easily degradable.

We will never know a person’s CONCERN LIST unless they told us. Shouldn’t judge that easily. No hate tho. Recycling paper is their choice, either it’s cheap or it helps reduce the amount of trees cut, it’s their choice.

This brings back memories. My father was a peanut vendor in a secondary school back in the 1960s. This is not an easy job. He wakes up at 4 am in the morning, prepares all the peanuts, and starts off selling at 6am with the cart. Pushed the cart all the way to the school. He would return home at 6pm. We would help in peeling the skins of the peanuts that he prepare for the sugar peanut. At that time it was 5 cents.😍
Mad respect for that man, hes in the sun during the pandemic selling stuff, what an legend
If I lived there I would be a regular customer. That kind of stuff is my favorite snack. Here all I can get is canned or jarred but to get it fresh... Oh how nice it would be!

Locals and tourists will love this. But don't make it too expensive in terms of price and quantity, and with quality maintained. STB should promote such trades with a modern touch.
In Pittsburgh its pretty common to see stores sell popcorn and cooked nuts fresh as well as in malls year round.

We have something like this in the Philippines. In a Tricycle with a Modern glass divider with treats. Tho they used plastic.

In the American southern regions, boiled peanuts are very popular and ca be bought on the side of the roads by hillbillies selling them. Very tasty.
So, which one is the best ?
The snacks look so tasty! She is very pretty...an absolute delight!
I wish we had snacks like this here in America. Healthy and nutritious. Instead we have super salty or super sugary snacks 😒 makes eating quick and healthy on the go very hard or very expensive. I hope I get to meet this man and buy some kacang puteh before the tradition dies.
