i didn’t realize how my tmj could be making it harder for me to sing
Recently I saw this vocal coach explaining how to spot this mistake: place your index finger in the back of your jaw (bone going down from your ear), and your middle on the "hinge of the jaw" (by the earlobe). When you open your mouth, and the hinge kinda pops out so you feel it with your middle, but your index doesn't move much, then you're doing it "wrong". So the right way is to open your mouth, nothing pops against your middle finger, and your index is slightly pushed back. I was wondering what you thought of this, Tara (and company), though I gotta say, it felt like magic ever since I learned about that, so my natural instinct tells me 👌👌

Ooo, wow. I need to see Tara's input on that. Sounds very interesting.
My teacher told me that to avoid the tension on the lower jaw, we should raise our upper jaw instead so the lower jaw involuntarily goes down.

I honestly find it rude people aren't even reacting to this great lesson or appreciating it and immediately demanding or begging for a reaction video... like, c'mon, say something about how cool and helpful this video is!
@XxQueenChristinaxX

Most of her ~600k subs are subscribed for the reactions and nothing more. That's to be expected. Not this many people actually care about singing.

Imagine thinking people are rude because they didn’t want to waste there time writing a 30 minute reaction for no reason.
Please please talk about recognizing when you're damaging your voice when singing. My voice gets tired after singing one song. Even a bit strained despite doing my absolute best to sing from the diaphragm. But after a few minutes of rest my voice feels alright. Help

@@jaquilward840 HEY i know Tara hasnt replied yet, not sure she will, BUT I figured something out! I realized that i was pushing way too much air out as i sang. The goal isnt to push my lung-full of air out at once, rather to sing with compression (a concentrated stream of air, but still without tension). Not sure if that was your problem but it's fixed a lot for me!
GREAT VOCAL COACH👏🏽!

That’s so true!! That helps so much😍 thanks
I’ve been singing professionally for 40 years. Started having a problem with vibrato a few years ago and never new I had TMJ till I was diagnosed recently. I can’t open my jaw wide enough without pain. I find these exercises very helpful. Thank you so much!!!!!🥰🥰🥰
I just love your video lessons! ❤ I've watched them all and whenever a new one comes out, I just go "Yaaas!" (dropped my jaw there) 😁

Description: Today I'll be going over how to Strengthen your mix Me: Wait what?
+tarasimonstudio *Thanks for examples of the how and how not.* There are many ways to pull off the first excerpted Song this vid: *AMAZING GRACE / TRADITIONAL* (John Newton) Canterbury Press/Olney Hymn Foundation, MCPS-PRS I tend to apply embellishments consistent with the Scots' _Piodbareichd_ customs. For me, jaw tension is strictly a theatre character tool. The second example I recognize as a slowed-down version of New Orleans (LA, USA) pop: *IKO IKO (JOCK-A-MO) / Multiple artists* (Barbara Hawkins/Rosa Hawkins/Joan Johnson) Trio Music Inc., BMI

Tara I love your videos so much they are awesome well just to let you know I’m in choir and now that I’ve been home a lot since schools been shut down I’ve been realizing that my voice needs lots of improvement I noticed that some songs I really strain my voice and it hurts afterward but some songs my voice feels ok after because I’m more in a comfortable range my passion is singing and to be a choir teacher I just really need to strengthen my singing voice I just get stressed a little about it and if you could please help me that would be amazing!!!

Pretty sure I heard Baptist, lol. You can’t hardly sing along with the Pentecostal/Charismatics, they try to do too much. (I’m picking, but I’m not) been around them all, and it’s real tendencies. Anybody that gets mad don’t like truth.
I just love your videos! Do you have any tips/advice on how to sing with modern-persistent asthma? I was just diagnosed with it in February as well as Endometriosis. I’m not a professional singer or anything. I just love singing at home, but would love to sing even better! ♥️

If i'm capable (i'm a man) to hit some high notes like F6 G6 with a whisle register (btw i still can't control them ) , does that mean i'm capable to stretch my headvoice to reach these notes too ??
