This is really interesting! I've always found that I sound like I'm singing "higher" even when singing really low notes, and it has always been frustrating - I have never really liked my voice but haven't understood why. Maybe my natural tone is more bird-like, and I need to go for the gorilla?? Would love for you to do the same video with Jeremie so we can see how this concept applies to male singers.

Same! I think it means chest voice needs to be developed because chest voice produces a broader resonance and richer tonality.

You can always change your tone. But, it is not tied to your voice range. Sometimes it's harder to change the tone of your higher notes. Other, or for other people, it's harder to change the tone of your lower notes. It also depends on the aspect of tone you are trying to change. For instance, you could simply mean you want a darker tone. But, you could also mean you want grit. It's important to distinguish and be intentional in order to be successful changing your tone. You can do it. Try trying to sound dirty/gritty, instead of a traditional clear sounding tone, and you might be able to catch on to it. It all depends on which parts of your body you decide to let take over. Lastly, sometimes, you need to change vowel sounds. For instance, sometimes instead of using the "I" vowel, use the say, "E", and so on.

I know Miss Tara has gone over it in a video before, but as a reminder: a great way to start finding “your tone” is to simply talk. Speak in rhythm. Lengthen some of your words using your natural voice. Remember, singing is just adding to what you already have. Like these ladies said, know what you have, find your voice, before trying to add the fancy stuff. Take a look at this one here from Miss Tara: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eoSB0saPns-Ykag.html

thank you for this video!! my tone is distinctly different when i sing in my higher range vs. my lower range. i'm naturally an alto and prefer to sing in my lower range bc i like my tone down there much more. my lower tone is more similar to a mix of cher and faouzia, while my higher tone is more similar to ariana grande. i was trying to find a way to maintain my tone throughout my voice and not have it be such a contrasting difference. thank you!!

I am a 19 year old male, probably a baritone, and I have found that combining my rich, dark chest voice support with the sharpness and pitch of my head voice gives me a nice female voice at my top register, but I don't really know how to develop it. When I try to increase range or control I lose my support and break into a flimsy falsetto. What would you recommend to develop my support for this upper limit of my range? And also I know that I can get higher, but my chords pinch and cut me off at around the same note regardless of tone/register.
