Whats wrong with giving him a respectful exit? They gave great recognition and appreciation for what he gave to the club, he saw this coming for a long time. Club was very good to him and vice versa. I see nothing embarrassing about this press conference.

I got to say I’m an eagles nuffy diehard, and after Simmos departure I just did not want to read any comments. I was absolutely devastated. But after I saw the love from Freo fans over their disgust over the Simmo West Australian article on Facebook… it almost moved me to tears (I was so appreciative). I could imagine these fans don’t want Eagles to win, but they put tribalism aside on this one thing and called out the disgusting rag for cheap-shotting a premiership coach like this. This would be like the Freo equivalent of sacking JL and the West saying “so long JL you one-kick wonder… thanks for nothing!!” (This is a reference to Longmuirs famous after the kick siren win). What the West Australian front page article did was so reprehensible towards Simmo that I think it is going to fold from bankruptcy (and good riddance) I love Freo fans so much and they are amazing dudes. I used to buy into the “I have to hate Dockers as an Eagle fan” mindset, but I have completely abandoned that mentality over the years. The disgust over this paper has united us despite our differences 👍

He can walk away with his head held high as a Premiership coach. The amount of injuries he’s had to coach around the past few years would be a challenge to any coach, no matter how good. Well done Simmo on a great coaching career.

Am i the only one who found this hard to watch. The heavy breathing in the beginning. This was a hard pill to swallow for Adam. As other footy analyst have already mentioned, i dont see the benefit in sacking him at this point in the season. I have no doubts he will be a great fit for any Club really. As a North fan, he will always be a legend and im glad he has won the hearts of the people of the West as well, even though the last few years have been extremely tough.

I was in tears 😔. Excruciatingly heartbreaking to watch and hear 😔. Not happy with the CEO's speech. It shows he doesn't know much about the coach. He deserves a glowing thank you for those 11 years. It was very poor from Pyke.

His reaction when they asked him to coach another game lmao 😂😂😂 Mixed feelings about this sacking. I've hated the circus that has hounded him. But if he's had questionable selection choices, and he's not doing a rebuild like it needs to be done, then fair enough. Got the club a premiership. Enjoy the payout and time off Simmo. Now the focus is on the players.

So much class from the coach. I feel terribly upset. This is not mutual. Extremely stressful job. I'd like we all to have a chance to say thank you for everything Simmo did. Yeah Pyke came across as an insincere politician. Simmo’s eyes were rolling quite noticeably. Then at the end did I hear Pyke say WC weren’t ruling out a lady to coach the mens team? Maybe I heard wrong, but either way everyone knows the new coach will be a bloke.

Its probably a relief for the bloke, crueled by injuries for a number of years and an ageing list. Probably should have traded a few of the players out after the Premiership while they had value but kept that loyalty. Always the coach that gets thrown under the bus.

I liked what he said about coming in after John Worsfold. That team wasn't bad per se coming off a 9 win season but needed a new voice. Simpson basically got to the 2015 GF with the team that he had when he arrived, then won 2018 after placing his stamp on the team (Selwood, Sinclair, Wellingham, Rosa, Priddis, Butler, Hill out, Redden, Jetta, Rioli, Ryan, Barrass, Duggan in). You can argue someone else could've done better the last 2-3 years (good luck, used 47 players in 2022 including half a dozen who weren't on the list) but hard to argue anyone could've handled the situation better.

Have a well deserved rest Simmo... You deserve it! and if you want to coach again there will be plenty of offers

As a previous resident of Scarborough Beach in Perth now living on the Gold Coast I was amazed with the front page of the West Australian paper. Absolutely grubby and distasteful gutter Journalism. Simmo handled himself with class and deserves better.

Regardless of what anyone says, Adam Simpson guided the Eagles to a Premiership. Plus he got to coach Harley Reid. Along with being a 2x Premiership player himself at North Melb, I think he'd be pretty content with himself. Good effort
