Simplicity Regent Bagger: Initial Quality

Initial quality review of a Simplicity material collection unit (bagger) installed on a Simplicity Regent 38" deck. I have ~35 hrs on this unit and highlight things I like and don't like.
I also highlight how the discharge chute attaches to the 38" deck of a 2021 Simplicity Regent.

Thanks for posting this- another great video by the "Engineer" giving good info on how an attachment is generally hooked-up and insight on its quality. After watching this I now realize that the output of the deck on my Simplicity Regent (44" deck) has a little bit of a different set-up given the fact that I ordered it with the Turbo-Vac. Essentially there are additional brackets that the Vac connect to. The vac is a nice feature, especially in the fall; however, it does make the tractor louder and a little harder to negotiate around beds or trees. Plus if you accidentally "nudge" something with it, while cutting the lawn, you can end up knocking the Vac belt out of wack & sometimes paying $30 to replace it. I've just ordered a new chute so that I can retire the Turbo Vac during the summer months. I'll probably have to rig something up so that I don't have to remove the vac bracket from the deck...hopefully that will go smoothly :-) - enjoying your videos...keep up the great work!

I have a Cub Cadet XT2 bagging system. The design is very similar to your Simplicity, but it clogs like crazy if the lawn is even a little moist. If I had it to do over again, I'd have bought my Toro Timemaster right off the bat instead (for about $1000). It bags like a champ, it gives you the ability to mow close to obstacles, it doesn't scalp on hills, and it gives a better quality of cut and better stripes than the lawn tractor on those special occasions. You also then have a complete back up mower if you need it.

Does the cub cadet have a three blade deck? I’ve noticed that baggers without the turbo blower struggle on three blade decks. I agree the timemaster is a good machine. I had one but when I expanded my lawn it wasn’t quite big enough.

Question . . . Since they've discontinued Simplicity and I'm now wanting a bagger, I'm having no luck finding one. I have found one but it's a couple of states away from where I live. The dealer that has it says I need the kit plus a "boot" that comes separate. Could I haul all of this in the back of a small SUV, like a Chevy Equinox? Or do I need a pickup truck? Also, you showed a baffle in your video. Is that yet another thing I will need in addition to the kit and the boot? Appreciate you video and help.

You should be able to fit it all in the back of a midsize SUV. My kit included the baffle and the boot, so not sure why they are saying it’s separate.

It could be but it’s nearly impossible to find that information if you aren’t a dealer…one of the problems with Simplicity.

I’m looking for the baffle and shoot add on for my broadmore 44” deck to use in place of my turbo. Any info would help. The Simplicity dealer wasn’t much help. Thank you Mark Hall

Unfortunately I can’t help much. It seems like Simplicity only gives the dealers that information and it seems like they don’t support after a few years. John Deere is much better in this area but they don’t have a floating deck.

Thank you for your review and a good walkaround of the bagger attachment. I left you a thumbs up. I have the same mower and after an all day fall clean up I am looking to get this bagger. Do you have the part number for this? I can't seem to find much on it.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t have the part number; Simplicity really lacks in this area. It’s almost impossible to lookup parts yourself, have to go to a dealer and that doesn’t always work. There website just shows a photo and calls it “Clean Sweep Twin Grass Catcher.”

@@TheLawnEngineer That is pretty much what I was finding. I did find a link with some help. It looks to be a factory manual of some kind. But, I still wasn't able to find the bagger kit I was looking for. Here it is for you and others with this mower - www.thepowerportal.com/ipls/ipl.htm?md=2691454-03~_IPLURL_LO.pdf

Hi I have 2 simplicity regent mowers both with the same 38 " deck. One is a 2004 model the other is a 2009 model but run same decks. I live in Australia and everywhere in have looked online local and in the USA to purchase a twin bagger kit it states out of stock. The only bagger I can seem to find is a Arnold (OEM-190-180A) Twin Bagger Kit which is available and states it suits a 38 to 42 ' deck. Do you have any idea whether it will fit my simplicity you may be the only help to my on going search for a bagger awaiting your reply. Regards Tony

Unfortunately, I don’t think the Arnold bagger will work. It is for MTD or Yardman mowers which are big box store junk. I love my Simplicity but they have a major problem with their parts and accessories. Once the model is a few years old it seems like nothing is available.

48-49" Its a bit difficult to get a perfect reading. Thats from left side of deck to the widest part of the bagger chute.
