I'm going to learn noflip method but I cannot decide which one to learn. Which method do you recommend to learn between Caleb and Lou and why?
@cfoples

Sheerin (the method taught by Caleb) has had more development, comparatively friendlier pins imo and more favourable preservation of lucky cases, so I would definitely go with it.

Are you still going to Sharon forks competition. I really want to meet you and Luke garret there because y’all 2 and others have made me stick to cubing. Also, do you have any tips for training to get faster for a sub-11 solver. I want to get a sub-10 average in comp on 3x3.
@TommyCherry

Yep! I'm really looking forward to the comp :) If you use CFOP, committing all your OLLs and PLLs to muscle memory will help for getting sub-10, and watching walkthrough solves from faster cubers can help you find efficient F2L solutions.

Any tips to doing the math faster, I’m pretty good at math but it still takes me more than 15 seconds to figure out the numbers 😅

My best tip is that whenever you have to find A-B, memorize what clock B needs to do to get to clock A. For example if you have to memorize the top edge - right edge and the top edge is at 3 but the right edge is at 7, the right edge has to do a -4 to get to 3. When actually looking at the clock, the visual relationship is easier to see than finding both numbers individually then subtracting.

Caleb told me something similar and ever since i can do the inspection in barely under 10 seconds, both of your tips are very useful though so thanks 😃👌
Just give him some time and he will be solving it blindfolded.

What an... interesting *vine boom* thumbnail.
Interesting video. As someone who is also fast at clock, I have my own opinions about no-flip as a method. I do believe that it is optimally better to cut out the flip in the solve, although I have found no-flip, as a method, a lot harder than regular solving it as it also has a much higher DNF rate. I think that no-flip can be very good, especially with the usage of simultaneous moves to solve both sides at the same time. It also takes up way more inspection time, whereas by doing the flip, you could use the same amount of inspection, but be able to plan out a lot more of the solve and predict more skips to find a more optimal way of solving the puzzle. That being said, simply flipping the clock has been used for years and has been tested and made better by solvers of all different speeds. Lots of people have succeeded and gotten results beyond comprehension using the most common method. I do believe no-flip will play a large part in the future of clock, but I don't see it being the most common method soon. Both methods can still be improved, and I believe that they will. I may switch to no-flip in the future, but I think more people need to switch for us to truly see how good this method can be. Both methods are viable options, on time will tell which is better. I'm more than happy to discuss this, and if I'm wrong about anything in this comment, please correct me.

The DNF rate gets better with practice. Caleb has gotten insane big avgs like ao500 and ao1000 despite using no-flip. With practice it barely takes any more inspection time; Caleb is at the point where sometimes he can just like at a side and know what he needs to do nearly instantly. Imo the small (with practice) sacrifice of inspection time is well-worth the flip it saves you from doing and all the moves you can do simultaneously instead of individually. I think Caleb's already showed that the method has lots of benefits over flipping, and I wouldn't be surprised to see really fast no-flip solvers springing up soon. Another thing is that concepts from no-flip can be used for even more insane things like 1-look; Caleb's already created a method, but nobody's practiced it enough to be able to inspect in under 15 seconds for it. Regardless of the future times people get with each method, in principle I think no-flip methods are better than flip in most cases because you can still take advantage of most lucky cases, and the simultaneous moves combined with saving yourself time by not flipping it mid-solve are too good to ignore.

@@TommyCherry I definitely agree, no-flip methods have a ton of potential. It is pretty impressive where Caleb has taken the method, I just feel like it takes more practice to get good with no-flip than with regular methods, just be because of the DNF rate and the slower TPS. I think that no-flip is harder to learn for beginners and those just learning may find it a bit frustrating. Of course, all things can be improved with practice. I have personally done around 20 solves and am yet to get any successes, always being 2 moves off on the back side. As I am currently averaging 5.3 while flipping, I don’t know how beneficial it would be for me to practically start from scratch with a new method. Of course, the potential of simultaneous moves and skips AND cutting out the flip is definitely worth it. I might switch soon, but I have a comp in a few months so I may switch after that.

@@JudeStradtner For what it's worth, I averaged about the same with flipping, and within a month of using no-flip I was sub-5, so it's definitely reasonable to get good with it before your comp if you have the time to practice

Mostly just practice whatever events you enjoy, and don’t try to practice too many at a time (maybe like 5 max, but after a few weeks switch to different events). If u find yourself being stressed out about practicing lots of events often, being an allrounder might not be for u.
