- The tesla circuit generates high voltage which creates a free plasma jet in the air. When the bulbs are brought close to the coil, they will self-illuminate because the high voltage creates a huge electric field that acts on the metal in the bulb and the gas inside creates beautiful plasma jets.
- You can do about 300 turns for a quick experiment but no plasma, I wound about 2800 turns and you see the high voltage creates a free discharge. The circuit part is very simple including 1 transistor NPN D718, a resistor. The circuit acts like an air core transformer, here I make a configuration consisting of a single resonant circuit.
