Simple Survival Knife Sharpening Method | Tex Grebner Outdoors

Спорт

No matter how cool your knife is, once the factory edge is off of it you need to resharpen that blade. It takes a bit of patience & practice to bring your blade back to that the true edge. First you edge the knife, then you sharpen the knife, then you hone the knife, and finally you polish the edge. Is it cooler to imagine yourself out in the field under less than ideal circumstances sharpening that blade to save your life? Of course, but I deal in reality and being prepared is much better than being cool and dead. I hope this will be helpful to my brothers and sisters in getting and keeping scary sharp knives scary sharp. FYI this method also works with spears and arrow broadheads but if you are trying to sharpen a serrated blade, you are on your own. Enjoy this week's episode of Tex Grebner Outdoors!
P.S. - Have no fear, there is an Illinois Archery Season 2021 coming soon!

Thanks for the new video Tex! Your knife videos have always been my favorite. I like to sharpen with the Lansky System and a leather strop with stropping compound.

Everybody has their preference of what their level of adequate sharp is. I have found the bur itself can be very efficient at cutting whether on a knife, machete, hatchet, or broadhead. I grind with a file to create the bur, then rake the bur edge perpendicular with the file along the length of the blade to straighten the bur angle. It also breaks off some of the more coarse bur teeth. The broken bur "teeth" are sharper than the coarse bur teeth. The bur edge is like a micro hack saw. When a broadhead passes blood vessels, instead of pushing them aside, the micro teeth on a bur will grab, pull, stretch, and slice them. My opinion, this form of cutting, will create a wound channel wider than the broadhead itself. It also has the potential to cut a larger entry and exit hole to put more blood on the ground for tracking. Some guy named Fred used the micro bur.

Imagine if homonaid erectus had all those sharpin tools behind you. The world would be a different place.Ha. Nice channel you have grown on me like my other half. Props on the spear hunting and all the close range stuff people nowadays thinks shooting Elk at 800yards is hunting. Iron sights with bad eyesight at 75 yards or 30 with my longbow. Basically Total luck. I will never understand hunting out of a blind at 400+ yards and whispering in the blind and I don’t need to see someone in a tree stand with a nose full of snot whispering to me in a camera. Anyway I’m ranting nice channel Thanks.

1:22 Did you actually "pull the trigger", or did the firearm simply discharge completely without assistance when you pulled the hammer back "another click"? Asking for Alec Baldwin!

After listening to you whine for 6min. You then show how not sharpen anything. Youtu.be gets worse and worse. By the way it's called a scandi grind not a high flat grind. Or a 0 degree. It is a very weak edge.
