    That steel with orange rust effects looks stunning! Got to say, I’m really impressed with Artis Opus here in terms of quality of content. I’ve got a set of brushes already and the effort that’s been put in to these tutorials given out for free from a brush manufacturer is way above the rest and makes me want to go out and get more. Whoever’s decision it was to make this channel - well done!! I’m sure you’re subscribers will be hitting peak numbers in no time!

    If you wanna do this a little cheaper, either hairspray or salt can be used in place of the chipping fluid, which is basically overpriced hairspray anyway, for the hairspray, a couple of light coats to get a satin sheen will be about perfect, with the salt technique, use coarse sea salt, grind it up a bit so you have lots of variation in crystal sizes from a fine powder to bigger chunks, either with a pestle and mortar or the recess in a clean brick and a stone will work too, anything you can grind the salt down slightly with really, varnish the piece, then wet the surface then sprinkle salt over the bit you want to chip, sprinkle the salt on, leave a minute or two, then paint over. use a stiff paintbrush or a soft-ish old tooth brush to remove, and hey presto! works a treat! unfortunately the salt technique only works with an airbrush at low psi, but the hairspray technique works with a normal brush brush, just let the top coat dry and remove with a damp paint brush! (some people will tell you to buy specific expensive branded hairspray but it honestly makes no difference, find that the cheap stuff from the pound shop works fine for me! Just remember, 2 light coats is enough)

    Cheers for the input Simon, I like being able to pick where I'm doing it, I guess you could mask, then hairspray, then paint... or would it attach itself to the mask?

    How Do matey, great tutorial, which I will be putting into practice as soon as me D Brushes arrive, I have now base coated 60 x 30k Imperial fist space marines, 3 Rhino's and 25 terminators and his lordship Dorn, who I think and hope would make a great dry brush tutorial, especially with all that gold armour. Nick at customer support was great and explained the delays, so big thanks to him. Lastly Scale75 has hinted that as an incentive to seeing more of it in tutorials they will be changing one of their paints, HULDRA BLUE will be known as BYRON BLUE !!!!!!. Thanks for all the hard work and keep them Tutorials coming. best regards Anwar.

    Heya!!! This video is awesome!!! Ive been trying to find some inspiration for my bases for my kill team squad (using the gw necromunda bases with a bunch of bits and mechanical junk as just basing details) and this has been perfect!! Out of curiosity cause ive never seen it before, what does the chipping liquid do? And is this how its normally used? Also is there an alternative to the fluid i could use or do i have to try to get ahold of it? OH ALSO I REALISED I RECOGNISED YOUR CHANNEL NAME CAUSE MY LOCAL GAMING STORE (ACME GAMES) HAS A BUNCH OF YOUR BRUSHES FOR SALE!!!!!

    Great question dude - I tend to get ''an army'' out of each brush. Once they get to this stage, they are demoted to basecoats and stippling as they don't loose shape, they just get shorter. You'll notice me using the same brushes in tutorials now from when I started the channel 😊

    Quality as always Byron. Feel like you do some magic with washes so I've started making my own over the last month or so instead of just using Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade and I've gotta say I really rate it more than ready mixed washes. My necrons have been having washes of Huldra blue mixed with Vallejo black where I would have used Nuln Oil before and the results are way better and the hint of blue adds so much interest on the copper sections its like free weathering as well as contrast. For my Blood Angels, I copied the wash from your tutorial from over the summer and that's worked a treat too. Just need to try some on my Dark Angels now. Any suggestions for a nice Deathwing scheme using Series D and washes?

    Hey Patrick, amazing to hear dude, just leaving the beaten track a little can often result in some amazing discoveries! Mhhmmm, it needs some real proper thought, I can't pop that one off the top of my head, it will have proper consideration though, and become a tutorial (soon, hopefully!)

  • @ArtisOpus

    @ArtisOpus

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Aaran... I may have one of those assembled and waiting! I don't think so unless I avoided 2 things: 1 - Weathering - you get amazing results in the time, but the GUO had 45mins just on his sword for example 2 - Freehand/decals/masking - detailing in general adds up, similarly to weathering I think it's worth doing, but it does add time, however efficient you are. It's less of a all similar blob too, unless you did it all 1 colour with minimal other stuff - e.g. flat matt black panels, etc. I'd say 4.5-6 hours probably

    @@ArtisOpus your tutorials help the community so much. I'm sure there are many other painters like myself who have a back log of miniatures and want to get good results in the quickest time most people. Most Imperial armies I see are some variation of black. Having separate videos would mean the techniques could be used by the community on other miniatures. Whichever tutorial you do I look forward to it along with many others. Thank you.
