I remember it well, we set off on the 180 mile journey and had a car accident after about 50 miles. We got recovered back home, managed to get a new radiator, pulled the front of the car out and fitted the radiator and then set off again. The waterfront bass line started as we ran up the steps, its as if they waited for us

first saw them at milton keynes june 22nd 1986, i was 15 years old and made the trip with 2 school pals from south wales, it was the most amazing day of my life, and a real bookmark in my life. just wish there was footage available. saw them at cardiff in 1989 and justified my rants about how good they were live, my mates who were not minds fans were blown away!

That was amazing to see ... I was there .. an 18 year old Aussie in the Mecca of venues to see his Favourite Band playing ... It's amazing to think then I was 40 + metres away and I was blown away by how huge, amazing and 'close' they were .. now in the 20 odd years since then .. I've seen them in a lot of different gigs .. met them .. had beers with them .. and sat across from them eating sushi .. and still get blown away by who they are .. as people and as a band!!

I was at this gig, everyone is saying it chucked it down but I don't remember (or didn't care) I remember Texas singing I Don't Want a Lover and at the of the song the crowed started to sing 40 (How long, to sing this song....) and the band came to the front of the stage and just looked into the crowed for what seemed like ages. I still think about this concert a lot Simple Minds were on fire.

David salt absolutely lashed it down mate! There were puddles collecting in the creases of the protection on the pitch and there were fellas diving in them, women getting dumped in them. I recall a guy in a Celtic shirt dancing around the pitch area for the whole of Gun, plus a fella getting legged by the police before getting lamped by some geezer in the crowd! The gig was boss too, my very first and I was only 14! Eventful day!

I thought people wearing plastic rain covers were bonkers as it was so humid and hot at Wembley but then the clouds opened and we were all completely drenched! Great concert though - where has the 29 years gone?!!!

I think Mark Rankin, who founded Gun was Sharlene Spiteri’s (Texas) cousin. Spiteri provided some backing vocals on the Gun album Taking on the World. Amazing day. Was there with my first girlfriend and a month after, we were on holiday in Amalfi, Italy and walking through the street. Nearly lost myself when walking towards us one night were Jim and Michael. Apparently they did a small impromptu gig at one of the hotel’s and we only found out the next morning Lol. Gutted. Seen Simple Minds about ten times over the years.
