Was there that night, my first ever gig and it was Simple Minds. Nearly 35 years ago, where did that all go? Seeing them for the 40th time in Edinburgh in a few weeks time. Soundtrack to my life, thanks for uploading.
Always my favourite track on empires dark and sinister capital city is here transformed into a delicate and fragile lament - another glittering find on KZread - thanks!

This recording is fantastic almost sounds like a soundboard at times , by far the best Audience recording from the 80s simple minds bootlegs.Much better source than the usual recording from this date. Best live recording available of "Come a long way" here also.Thanks sharing this.

I can see why Come A Long Way never made it to being on City of Light. Mel’s drumming is way too busy for the verses and Jim struggles to keep up with the jerky high tempo. They did a far more restrained version of it years later which is far better. The album cut is a hypnotic build with the majestic drums coming to the fore during the play out, one my all time favourites. One of the few times that the Once Upon A Time tour arrangements got it wrong. Other than that, wow!!!
