What I like the most about this breakdown is that theses scenes looks really cinematic but the lighting is minimum, proving that you don’t really need big setups and even we could try something like that by learning where to put the lights. Bring some more, I wanna keep learning!

True but also the cams and lenses they use are top of the line, plus the film is graded by pros which compensates a lot imo

The number of lights might by minimal, but I'm not sure I'd call a 12x frame with crate, pushed up against a wall, and therefore probably lit by several expensive panels, or one massive flex LED, a lightweight setup achievable by your typical indie filmmaker!

@@zoanyway I'd say the point really is just seeing the simple concepts used here which can be recreated for any interior daylight scenes, where you don't need super complex setups. Sure, the gear might be out of reach of tiny budgets, but that can be addressed by limiting the scope of your shots (not doing enormous wide shots or long, moving master shots) and "cheating" a lot in your close-ups. Also, rental exists for a reason ;)
Yes! Cinematography Database used to do this kinda thing before he became an Unreal Engine addict and entered the matrix. Great to see this!
Well we just got 10x as much useful lighting info in this one video that 100 KZreadrs could give you in as many videos. Love your videos Lewis!
Keep on posting my friend. Very inspiring!
I love to see a lot more of this.It gives a great insight into the planning and the how to keep the changes from setup to setup minimum.
Honestly I really love your chill demeanour. It is a breath of fresh air, seeing as other filmmaking-youtubers are the embodiment of hype, while the actual content is drowning. Every video is an inspiration! Keep it up!

If you ever plan on doing a q&a, I’d love to know how you get hired for shoots, and what that process usually looks like.
Reminds me of the classic top lighting of white linen on tabletops that Robert Richardson uses.
those 7 minutes and 18 seconds went by so fast, loved your take on these!
Yes, these breakdowns are always helpful. I have gotten into the habit of studying available light everywhere I go, as if I had to shoot with it or recreate it. I have to get in the habit of analyzing film scenes as you have done in these videos. Finding BTS for reference helps, but it’s a good exercise even without BTS.
Yes! More lighting breakdowns please!
Thank you for taking the time to do it. Very cool to see the bts along with the shot
PLEASE, DO MORE OF THESE BREAKDOWNS! AMAZING!
These are amongst the most informative lighting vids I have seen. More please
Never stop making these videos please!
Yes Lewis, Yes! Love to see more of these videos!
Gives me hope for my no budget work. Yes, please, keep doing these.
Thanks for sharing these lighting setups Lewis! It's quite inspiring actually and I'd love to see more :)
I really loved to have this breakdown! It thought me a lot and got to me thinking of why planning is crusual 😍 More of these please 🙏
Yes, you should do more of this. Please.
More lighting breakdowns!!
Yesss! More like this!!!!
I’d happily watch more videos about this. Thanks!
I love these types of episodes. It’s always nice to see others’ work and compare them to your own, especially when they are established in their craft and in the industry. It’s a great measure for yourself.
Loved the break down man.... been getting into more lighting techniques and love seeing how these big projects control light in these larger spaced scenes.
Surprising to see how basic and minimal the lighting setups are.
Love to see this kind of content. I think seeing other people decomposing scenes from movies really helps you understand how to recreate or personalize a look and you’re not stuck with your own perspective ! Really educational! :))
Yes!!! More Please. I thank you for this.
Yes please keep them coming, I'm learning so much, thank you!
Great stuff! Watched every video in two sittings. MOARrr!
I would love a video from you about "good planning". Would be great to get your experience on best practices to plan light design for maximum flexibility.
i LOVED this video. Please make more like this, they make it look so simple !
I'm gonna try out the "light from below catchlight" strategy as soon as the opportunity presents itself. This stuff is so amazing man, can't thank you enough for putting it together.
Please do more of these! So helpful Lewis!
Really nice seeing someone do the things Cinematography Database used to do. Please keep on doing it.
I’d personally love to see more of these! Great work as always Lewis
I always watched movies and wondered how they worked with the lights. It's so interesting. Thank you for your videos.
Love it. This needs to become a series. Thanks Lewis!
YES, MORE PLEASE!
Super interesting! I loved the insights about how the planning and logistics of the shoot played into the decisions. Like splitting the two 4x4 frames to make it easier to transition to a different set up. This is something that I don't take into consideration nearly enough.
I loved this, the combo of the BTS plus your insights made it super informative! Would love to watch more of these :)
I've just found your channel recentlly and has already became one of my favorite! Great content, very straight to the point in every video and insanelly informative! Would love this series from your videos! Great work. Thank you. Behind the scenes helps for you to interpret but also everyone will pick out something for themselves also. So thanks for showering that as you find them. Mentioning dop and stuff like that.
Thanks for this. I love lighting breakdowns from feature films or episodics. There is so much to take away from these types of videos.
Really interested in these types of videos, please keep them coming and keep up the amazing work!
This information is so helpful, I learn so much from these behind the scenes, more of these please! 👌🏽
Lewis - God send. Down to earth, totally practical and complete explanations of dramatic lighting. Geez this is useful stuff!
Definitely do more videos like this! I'd like to see how you break down each scene and talk about the lighting concept behind those movies.
To answer your last question: this is absolutely definitely something I'm interesting in watching. Pretty sure I'm not on my own either. Keep them coming!

Very nice video Lewis, thanks for sharing these setups! would love to see more BTS and analysis of the setups! thank you
I'd love to see more of this, great info here. Thanks!
This is fantastic! Big fan of your lighting breakdowns
great breakdown Lewis, I also learned a lottttt by watching making ofs and bts. Since at the beginning when you don't have too much on set experience, that's the best way to get to know these lighting setups and obstacles that might happen on set quite early on.
Love this vid. Would definitely want another one
Awesome! Loved your thoughts on these shots and wouldn’t mind seeing more of these kinds of videos.
Such amazing insight! Pls keep doing these videos
This was great - really enjoyed seeing your commentary on the setups
That was so good. More of this, please!
Love these breakdowns!! Super interesting!
I just love how Lewis is this low energy sapient guy, it gives a nice guru atmosphere. It annoys me how other photography youtubers are always talking loud or shouting in their videos. really good breakdown btw, I would love to see more videos like this. It opens the mind to a lot of different ways to light a scene, more than just do the casual stuff.
Super helpful mate, thanks !!
Thank you so much lewis this video is really useful ❤️
This is definitely my favourite type of video from someone with your experience. Thank you so much for making these!
Subscribed! Definitely do more please. Thank you for the lighting breakdowns.
More, please!
I love this. Thank you!
Love this! Please more!
