I just write what I understood. 1. each year I have to pay 2000. 2. the total amount paid by me after 4 yrs is 8000, i.e 1yr-2000 2ys-2000 3yr-2000 4yr-2000. 3. but the bank has different methods of analyzing. 4. they estimate that every year installment has some future value. like in the question 1st year installment will have 900 as future value, therefore the bank looks at this amount as 2900 though ur only paying 2000. ps: 1. the total debt is installment + future value. 2. you won't have to pay the future value. 3. future value is directly proportional to the interest on the loan and the difference between that yr and the final year of the installment.

From what I have understood, Answer is installment of ₹2000 each year i.e by the end of 4 years we pay only 8000 to the bank. But for the Bank this value of 8000 is equal to 9800 because of Future Value since we are paying the installments on time and the money kept in the bank will grow

  • @purvifying

@@vilegend9339 yes that's because of future value, say my total debt is ₹9800 to be paid in 4 years...but I pay u ₹2000 at the end of 1st year, so this ₹2000 with u will increase with time right? U will get interest on it if u save it in bank ..so the same way 8000 will be equal to 9800 for the bank

@@purvifying interest is given by the bank to us if we deposit money it does not simply grow on it's own , instead it will depreciate with time due to inflation so if you give 2000 to the bank it will become lesser and lesser each year that is why they charge an interest on it to beat inflation and make some profit

@@Saurabhpandit253 No he pays only 2000 for 4 years. But the value he paid to the bank is not 8000 it is 9800. Let me explain the reason. Let's say I took 1 Lakh from you, is it okay for you if I pay back that same 1 lakh after 20 years. You won't agree right because if you have given the same amount to another person or if you invest that amount in any business then you would get back the amount with some interest and profit. This applies same in the above question. The person took 6125 loan from a bank with 4 years term which means he needs to pay back the loan amount with interest after 4 years. Instead, he chose the installment method, which means he is paying 2000 in the 1st year instead of paying that amount after 4 years. So if he had given that 2000 to some other person then after 3 years he would have received that 2000 with some interest which he would have paid more amount to bank after 4 years. So he paid 2000 in 1st year to bank but its actual value after his term is 2900 and it goes on to all his installments except the last one because his term is 4 years and the last installment he paying is on 4th year. So he paid 2000 for 4 years which looks like 8000 but the value which he paid is 9800

So I took a loan of 6125 and bank charged an interest of 3675 and that is 9800 which I will have to repay. I choose to repay via Installments of Rs P every yr for 4yrs with an equal installments i.e., of 2000 which earns interest of 15% in the bank till maturity. So I payed 8000 but the future value of the money is 9800. Understood perfectly!!

Is it because we'll be paying 2000 each in the 4 years or is it because the installment at the end of the 4th year is 2000/-. I would be glad if someone solves my query.

Here also we are paying an equal amount per year(i.e 2000), it is just that the FUTURE VALUE of the amount changes as per the number of years left. and the equal amount we pay is already calculated using the rate at which money grows(here 15% per year) as the instructor did above. Also, That is why it is advised to pay your installments on time.

@@samkissu4011 The answer is only 2000(4installments) so in total you would have only paid 8000 to the bank. But what Mr. Raviprakash tried to explain is you paid only 8000 but the value of 8000 is equal to the value of 9800 because of future value(i.e.,if you deposited that amount the would have grown right!) so all 4 installments value is 8000 =2000*4

@@monishshankaranarayanan5915 no. Listen at 22:55. It's not deposit, it's loan. Incase of loan we usually pay an higher amount than what we recieved. So, at first year, difference between the money(inflation) at 1st year and 4th year is high, so we are paying 2900(future value of 2000, when present year is year 1). Similarly we pay subsequent amounts of each year, and at the 4th year, future value of 2000 is 2000 only, because 4th year is the last year. Hope you got it.
