I just changed the bulbs on my GFs mazda 2. This vid was helpful. Thanks for posting. I had no luck getting the plug off the back initially. What I ended up doing, was just pulling the rubber boot back enough to reach in, undo the spring clip and pull the entire connected plug/boot/bulb assembly out. Then I had plenty of leverage on the plug and disconnect.

Thanks done this on Mazda 2 before ,but it's nice to know before doing it again (the left side is harder with the fuse box in the way (2012 NA left side steering) if you look at Mazda manual they want you to take half the car apart .

Yea right 😅😅 make a video doing the left side bulb . The right side is easy and fast like in video . You have to loosen part of the bumper and pull the light unit out and , only then do you have access to the left side bulb . Ive just replaced my standard H4 with high performance 5000k blue white . I had the same problem when I owned a 2004 Mazda Axela . I high intensity bulbs in the Axela . Had to remove part of the bumper to change the right side bulb . I owned a S14 Silvia for 11 years . That took the H1 bulb and didnt require loosening part of bumper

Thank you for taking the time to upload this. I am in the process of upgrading to LEDs in my '01 Protege, and found the headlight assembly to be very similar to this vehicle. FWIW, I rebuilt the front end after an unfortunate incident, and have aftermarket lamp housings. The type of bulbs I purchased have a heat sink and cooling fan, and that rubber boot on the aftermarket assemblies completely restrict the airflow needed to make the fans do their job. I am going to have to modify the length of the factory boots (which fit on the aftermarket lenses) to accommodate the 1/8" of difference between the halogens and the LEDs. Despite that setback, your video was very helpful in showing just how these things come apart. Thanks again. P.S. - it was that clip that I've never encountered before that was giving me the most trouble, as I was working pretty much blind and had not encountered that sort of retaining mechanism in a headlight before.

I saw this video and it looked very easy but I was struggling, so I went to the garage and they couldn't do it either. I believe it's the original factory bulb and it really feels stuck. It's going back tomorrow so they can have another go.

I have way to big hands for this job, so i went to my mechanic, and he did it under 2 min, i ask how much it would cost me, and he said nothing :) (had the bulb with me). but i said i though he should have something for his trouble, so i ended up paying he 50 Dkr or around 8 Us dollars

You should probably mention that if you let go of the lamp whilst attempting to position it, it can fall inside the enclosure - which presents you with a whole new problem ;-)

Try it on a Demio 2000 model! It took me half hour to place the lamp in and I'm still not done (That's why I'm looking on KZread for tips). How the F can u put the clip back on? TheTunzy the clip or the rubber? the clip is the easy, it's like a door, you push, while pushing , push it down and it should lock

I got it on with the rubber, but it's just the clip that I can't get back on. I tried it again and now the clip fall off. I watched some other video's and the clip is behind a screw. Maybe it's better to just get the whole lamp out now?

The most important, and hardest to figure out, is the removing the spring clip.The video does not show this at all, basically worthless instruction video.

Hahaha. You're a fraud. You chose the easy side. Other side has much less room and needs the bumper removed if you don't have tiny hands.
