Prepare to be blown away by the heavenly flavours of garlic naan cooked in a cast iron skillet.
Garlic naan is a classic Indian bread that is loved by millions around the world. It is made from a soft and fluffy dough and cooked to perfection in a cast iron skillet. The process of making this delicious bread may seem daunting, but it is actually quite simple. After my trip to India, I became addicted to naan bread and had to learn how to make it myself with the same flavour.
To start, you'll need to prepare the dough by mixing flour, yeast, salt, sugar, milk and yogurt. Then knead the dough until it becomes soft and pliable. Once the dough is ready, place it in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let the dough rest and rise for at least an hour. For best results, let it prove overnight in the fridge. That is the secret for better flavour, fluffier texture and it will be more digestible.
Once the dough has been rested, divide it into equal portions and roll each one out into an oval disc. You can also add herbs at this stage if you wish.
Now it's time to cook the naan. Heat up a cast iron skillet on high medium heat. Place one of the naan discs onto the skillet and let it cook until the bubbles have all risen. Check underneath when it’s a nice brown colour and flip. To get that smoky char flavour, use a pair of tongs to hold the naan over an open flame for a few seconds. This will give it that authentic tandoori flavour that we all love.
Once the naan is cooked, brush it with a mixture of melted butter and chopped garlic. Serve it up hot with your favourite Indian curry or dip it in some raita or chutney.

This is actually a really nice recipe and I love the added tip for a more fluffy Naan that is easier to digest , thank you , I will make this before the weekend or even week , is out , enjoy everyone! I am going to do spinach vs the coriander , simply have it on hand is all , love coriander , Indian cuisine is one of my favourites even as a Canadian , so much flavour .

Joel my Aussie friend, very nice recipe on a delicious bread, I'm 60 now, but cooking, grilling, etc... since I was 9, & using cast iron, & the secret to cast iron, it is a poor conductor of heat( can have cool places) but a great retainer of heat & is to place it it dry in the oven for 20-25 minutes & then remove to a burner, double oven mitt to take out as will be screaming hot, then add your ingredients, & make per your recipe, works like a charm, cheers mate
I can't wait to watch this later! I've been wanting to try to make naan for a while, but haven't got around to it. This'll be the perfect motivation I'm sure

Nice job.. thank you 👏👏😋Gonna give that a try. Cast iron skillet a nice way to cook it too, sort of does what a tandoor does I guess, "transfering" the heat ! What a lovely dog. Glad he got a treat. He pepped up the video like the garlic butter did the naan 🤗If he was a lab thouigh, there'd be NO hesitation taking the food, you'd have heard the "steel trap" jaws clamping down on it in miliiseconds 😆🤗

No, the depth of flavour and fluffiness comes from overnight proving.
I have tried it without the yeast, just by increasing the amount of yogurt. The rest of the procedure is the same. But it takes a little more time to rise.
