    I ordered a radio and harness from Quadratec that was on backorder for three months. Finally gave up and cancelled and sourced parts myself. I thought I was ordering the complete plug and play harness from Crutchfield so you can imagine my little moment of panic when I saw what came out of the bag. Thank you for your video, you brought me back down to earth. I am an engineer and very familiar with assembly, but was not looking to cut into the vehicle harness, nor did I want to spend 3 hours in the freezing cold working on my daughters jeep.. I feel much better now. Thank you again.

    Great video. It confirmed what I thought. I'm a bit concerned that the constant, switched, and ground wires on my alpine HU and Power pack wires are much thicker than the flimsy wires on this harness. I'm going to wire my HU to the harness and wire the Power pack separately since it'll be switched via the blue HU wire. Now to find the handbrake bypass video!

And unfortunately no easy diagram like yours.

    No sir, there are so many darn applications it's crazy. Took me probably a week just to research and then about 5 hours to do the install with subs and amp. It was tiiiiiiime consuming with those stupid bus controllers and no doubt a little frustrating. The main thing is getting all the accessories to work and wired up. Wiring up the factory speakers and subs is easy as long as u follow ur manual diagram u have with ur units. Wish I could be more of help other than this video my man.

    @@adidas4275 I just bought a Pioneer receiver and have the premier Infinity system in my Wrangler. I'm assuming the aftermarket stereo has a better amp so I plan to completely bypass the factory amp which is located under the steering column. I'm still using the PAC harness to keep the chimes and radio dimming. Future upgrade would then be to use the preamp outputs to a separate amp connected to the factory speaker wires which was connected to the Inifinity amp.

    I recently replaced the radio in my wife's JK with a SONY w/back up camera, I purchased the installation kit with the U-Connect module - everything worked great for about 2 weeks and then it started randomly shutting off and coming right back on - then it started effecting the Jeep i.e. while driving the gauges would go to -0- the wipers would come on for one pass, a/c would cycle off and back on... the radio died so I assumed it was a defective unit so I painfully purchased the newer version (because, like a dumbass I tossed out the box and receipt AND the original stock radio). So now its 2-3 weeks later and the new radio is starting to do the same thing... I would surmise it has to be a power issue? I did not alter or change the wiring, I HAVE checked all the connections and I DID NOT add any speakers of sub. Thanks for any advice!

  • @JRMSweeps

    @JRMSweeps

    Have you checked the negative terminal on the battery for a good ground? Outside of that, I can tell you that is about 5 levels above my paygrade. I am not great at all with wiring issues like that and unfortunately I have not heard of this issue as well. I would give your local dealership a call and see if anyone in the service dept. who isn't a punk will talk to you about it and see what they say. When you say U-connect module, I assume that is the pac-bus to operate the stereo from the steering wheel? Could the u-connect module be causing the problem? If the stock head unit gave you no problems, I would say it has something to do with the module or the way the new system was wired up. I gathered this from a website which stated certain functions and features of the audio system rely upon resources shared with other electronic modules in the vehicle over the Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus network. Worst case situation, take it to a reputable stereo shop and have them check the problem. Sorry if I am of no help. Maybe someone will jump on this thread and give you some better advice. Please let us know your fix when you find it. You have me curious about it now.
