I will share my experience with you of how I prepared a simple breeding tank and prepared it for Nishikigoi to breed in it. This series will be continued with multiple video’s to explain all the steps we have taken in order to breed Nishikigoi.

no filtration? I feel like if i'd leave a tank like that out to warm up in the sun, it'd be green by the time it was warm enough

No filtration used indeed. Only fresh water/water changes and aeration. The Koi are only in it for a short period of time, and removed after spawning directly. As you have perhaps seen in the other parts of this series 🙂
how many time you feed baby koi a day when they are under 2 weeks old? Beside the egg jolk, what are the name of the food you feed them?

What is the minimum size should be the breeding tank?
So I’m getting ready do finally start building my own koi pond will they try to spawn on their own if I have both sexes in the pond?

Yes that can surely happen! But the chance is smaller. Plus you can not cross/combine specific varieties. It will always be a mix of all koi that are in the pond
what month of the year do they spawn in the uk outside?

É possível criar koi em casa, no quintal de minha casa? Quais as orientações que você recomenda para quem deseja criar em um espaço reduzido? Que tipo de instalações você recomenda? Medidas dos tanques? Altura x Largura x Comprimento

Yes that would be possible. I suggest at least 2 metres x 1 metres and 40-50 cm depth for max 60 cm Koi.

Really waste your time ! I did my self all fry come out very disappointed only couple dozen looking ok too much energy and effort . Go buy Japanese koi is much cheaper. And much nicer and quicker

That is true but you learn more about keeping koi fry and koi growth in general than you will with a normal koi pond. I have four ponds three indoors and one 5000 gallon main pond plus a spawning pool in summer. There is nothing like growing your own koi. Especially when they win at a koi show!
