Here is something that I pack to help hang my hammock in different and strange places . is 4 steel tent pegs the heavy kind from cheap tents. I use them for jamming in rocks ,cliffs ,wood , bricks, and concrete. It is hard to get me to sleep on the ground during my trips.

    It's worth mentioning that airlines have widely differing bicycle policies. One might just charge you $15 for a box, but on another, going to find that box might be so complicated that you miss check in. another might charge you enough for transport that it might have been easier to just buy a bike at your destination. What's ingenious about this system is that it's a known factor. It just becomes standard luggage, that every airline will treat the same, no worries.

  • @hobocyclist

    @hobocyclist

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, the best way is never admit what is in the package, since some airlines will treat a "bike" or "sports gear" differently to the same size & weight package containing something else. Stay within the airlines size and weight dimensions and you should be fine. For more information regarding luggage size search "IATA airline luggage standard dimensions" using your favourite search engine

    What about theft? Where do you sleep? How do you know which open places your actually allowed to sleep? When your asleep how do you know you are going to be safe yourself and all your gear? You say you use a bike lock but how do you keep other items safe? I love the idea of what your doing but I’m from an unsafe country. What does one do in cold countries like England? Do you find yourself sleeping at backpackers? I would hate having to wear all that warm gear or to carry it on the bike as some of it can be heavy unless you use lightweight stuff maybe like an ultra light weight bomber jacket. Thanks for your channel Andy!!

    This bike is a "Sonar" which is yes rebranded generic chinese alu model sold under many other brand names. Some of the parts got swapped out before I went on the long ride you can see in the videos start from this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/o3Zl2bOxlKffZco.html you can see I buy them from a bloke who had them on a sailboat for years, they cost me $40 nzd (approx 30 $USD) for both, proves you dont need to spend a fortune!

    @@hobocyclist Wow Thats such a detailed answer thank you my friend. I live in the UK I just got a trek bike new and it was so scary when it wasnt working properly to see how the people at the trek shop that I had to ride 20 miles to and from to get home to that each time they gave the bike back it was worse than before. I got so tired of it that I called their trek help line and the manager came in a rental van and collected it yesterday. it actually seemed like a feather in his hat he had managed to repossess the new bike off me. The whole time I felt they were sabotaging my new bike and it was breaking my heart to keep handing it back to them and getting it back with the gears all out of synch and having to test it behind their shop and keep taking it back. Its not just thieves in the street but the very staff of the corporations that sell these big bikes we have to be aware of. Since I got back to the Uk after trying to walk to India for 3 years to get an operation I have also had my diagnosis deleted by the NHS and am trapped in the UK my new GP here in this town refuses to refer me to see another ENT specialist after the first three all followed each other deleting my diagnosis and pretending there is nothing there so I am now looking seriously at hobo cycling as an escape route from having my illness stolen from me and left to die from it without any help or referral to see any more ENT specialists I am going to need to hit the road to search for safety and medical treatment in another location possibly over seas. I figure in stead of walking (i got as far as Croatia befoe being deported to heathrow without a new passport to live homeless for a year as no one woild believe who i was before getting this apartment to find they have decided my medical diagnosis is wrong and deleted it at the doctors and hospital) that next i will try biking to safety and medical help. Now I think its better to have a bike thats more off the radar of value/envy to others and I can see you are onto a good thing here. A good lock sounds key. Much love big hugs.
