I find him very biased. Hearing him champion Southgate is pretty nauseating (world class manager apparantly). Keown never says anything controversial about anything as a pundit. Plays it safe. Just very boring to listen to. He'd make another good candidate for the FA, if they were looking to give jobs away to former players. Another 'yes" man.

    - Potter didn't get the preseason or summer window with Chelsea - improved them a bit initially - got slammed with injuries .. Kante, James, Chilwell, Kovacic, Pulisic just to name a few - World cup interruption - January window and the club bombard him with new players A lot went against Potter and the entire time he was questioned with the enormity of the job. Chelsea fans and the pundits kept an expectation level as high as when the club were packed with legends and surfed through fully-established managers. Did little to understand the enormity of the change at the club and offered no patience. What really killed Potter though in my opinion was obvs the poor results but due to his constant rotation partly forced by the injuries, to keep the massive squad happy and give him a look-in. Also, he really gave Mount and Havertz lots of games where they continuously let him and fans down with poor finishing. Couple that with the formation changes and that was a wrap. He's a good coach but Chelsea were just too volatile at that stage and the owners cracked. I would've given him until Xmas this year to see what he could've done.

Our expectation levels weren't as high as you're making out, the issue is he was so far below even the bare minimum that might have been acceptable. All we wanted was some sign that he was a) competent and b) that he might grow into the role if given time. he didn't show any signs of either.

Yet another Brighton person who doesn’t readily adjust to a new team. Graham was a very good manager at Brighton but if he had a fault it was the constant changes to formation. Managers like Graham need a stable environment and a squad they can ready work with. At Brighton Hughton managed to keep the them up for a couple of years with great skill and they were a better team when he left then Potter improved the team with more money . Potter changed Brighton from a bottom 6 PL club to a Top 10 PL side quite an achievement. De Zerbi then took Brighton up another level again . But what works at Brighton doesn’t always translate, you can buy a fast car but can you drive it. What you have seen at Brighton is a gradual but constant improvement year in year, many reasons but primarily The success is because of Bloom and Barber . When ever a player or management person leaves they always seem to know where to find a replacement that’s real skill and a lot of PL clubs for all their money are still in the Stone Age just jumping at any manager or player with no thought.

Considering where he was before Chelsea and having never won anything major I’m a little surprised why they ever went for him. Add to that the fact that the players are infamous for dropping tools if they’re unhappy with the manager it probably wasn’t his best decision to go there. You can see why he did, but it was very unlikely to work unless they bought in immediately.

Why does he have to? Big clubs in England value the achievements of managers in lesser leagues than for example keeping a small club in the Premier League with no money. E.g. Ten Hag was seen as a genius for just winning with Ajax, the biggest club in the country. Whilst Dyche and Howe were never given chances at Top 6 clubs for keeping small teams in the Premier League. Which, is arguably the greater achievement!

Well like Simon said, he’s in a very similar situation to moyes in 2014. He needs to get back on the horse, and doing so in a foreign country, with the cultural and language barrier possibly isn’t the best platform to recover his career. I agree the PL is stressful, but there are plenty of stable clubs like palace, Fulham etc which could be a great job for him.

I reckon Potter will be the next England manager. I expect Southgate will go after the Euros whatever the result for England and Potter will be selected as the best English manager who is available. Unless of course Eddie Howe has a mare of a season and Newcastle sack him!

I was about scoff at that that, but on reflection he might be better suited to a national job than a high pressure Premier League club, a bit like Southgate.

I am an Arsenal and Sheffield United fan, so this might be a shot in the dark of a suggestion. Why not Sheffield United in the event they sack the current manager? It would make sense and we do have great young player for him to mold. Just a thought.

Yes let’s bring the coach who plays beautiful football but can’t figure out how to score and had a fragile ego at Chelsea that led to him being poked fun of by the players because he wasn’t good enough. No. Go figure out he hasn’t figured out yet in the Championship. Then come back up.

I imagine several jobs will soon be available in the Premier League soon that Potter may want to step back on the ladder for. Newcastle is a possibility if Howe's fortunes dipped further in the next five or six weeks, let's be honest patience in the modern era is unheard of. Whether Potter sees himself that far North however I've got doubts. I'd have said after Carlo Ancelotti left Everton back in 2021 that job was tailormade for someone like Graham Potter but they went with Benitez instead and since then it's been all downhill. No way West Ham should even consider sacking Moyes, he's working wonders that most Hammers fans under 50 years old haven't seen the like of with a combative team and obviously a Cup last year finally.

Graham potter should be nowhere near the premier league. Have the man go manage Portsmouth. That’s more befitting of his ability and class. Hope to never see this clown again.

If you look at Potter's Brighton they played good football but it fell apart when it came to scoring goals. At times he got Chelsea to play some nice football but again it fell apart when it came to scoring goals. I think he is an average midtable manager.
