No, he meant that the world is a stage (He wrote this poem in the play "As You Like It") which he meant that the world is LIKE a stage as on a stage people do plays etc and when he contrasts and compares the stage to life, he means that people(Characters of the Play) come and play their part in the bivouc of life (Stage) and when their part is done, they go away (die) and then more people enter and they simply go away too. Btw nice guess.

'It's raining cats and dogs' is a saying from an old wives tale from when thatched houses were prominant, where dogs and especially cats would sleep on the beams and in rafters untill it rained, leaked through and startled them from thier slumber causing them to fall from the roof. 🤣

Idioms, anyone? Raining cats and dogs isn't a metaphor. Neither is elephant in the room. Music to my ears. Broke my heart. Chewed my ear off. Stabbed in the back. Costs an arm and a leg. Under the weather. ... Idioms. Different thing. Shame, too - the first half of the video was excellent! The clearest I've found on the topic...

Mr H you’re right; it’s indeed an idiom, not a metaphor. This was made a few years ago now, so much like my other videos, it could use some tweaks. Thanks for spotting it.

By saying that Shakespeare meant that on a stage different plays are played and characters come and play their part and go away. The play ends but stage is still there for another play to be played. Now the world is also a stage and every being has a role to play temporarily. Just like a play's character a human goes through different stages of life and when their part is done they die. But world is still there for others to continue. You can attach the theory of reincarnation too. You come back as a different character. Play your role and go away. You are just a part of the world and the world will continue to function whether you are in it or not. You can make some changes but when you're gone the world doesn't cease to exist. Play your role honestly while you are still here. P.S. I came here without anyone recommending this. So kids calm down as it is a good video.

please help me to highlight the line which represent metaphor in this poem......... The roads are empty, the crowds too small, And no trace of life outside, none at all. Every human is locked up in their house, And the sunny play ground, now looks bleak. Why does our wide world look so desolate now? What a silly question, even a toddler would have the answer. Cause, there’s a monster out there, That can make even breathing like hell. It is tinier than our cells, but it is causing a huge pandemic, If it enters your body, it may wreak havoc. Coughs or sneezes are like its private jet, And to your lungs, it’s a threat. We, who always chat and dine in groups, Now prefer to stay away, And with a mask on our mouths, St at home straight away. Nobody’s going to school anymore, No child playing in the park, Nobody’s even opening the door, Except for grocery or stock. We used to giggle and play On our swings and slide, Now, we’re caged in our homes, As Corona gambols outside. I used to pity my dolls, trapped on the shelves, Now, I really don’t know why, As to me, it’s a privilege To even bask in sunlight these days. We, who are social animals, Now dread the door bell. Sadly, we are told to see, Every visitor as an unwelcome virus. When can we really be free? When can we stick our heads out? When will the dawn arrive? Come on, let us await that day.

  • @AimeeShattock

What a great poem! The 'monster' is definitely metaphorical. There isn't literally a giant monster/creature; it's a metaphor for the virus which has wreaked havoc on our lives as if it was a monster.
