SIM900A GSM Module-Send SMS & Make a Call using AT Commands
Let's explore how to use SIM900A GSM Module to send SMS and Phone Call using AT Commands. We'll use USB-to-RS232 adapter/cable to connect SIM900A GSM Module with Computer. We can also use USB-UART Bridge instead along with PuTTY Terminal Software. In this lesson, we'll start with AT commands to test first if module works? and later we'll use advance AT Command to perform following tasks:
1. GSM Module Testing
2. Send & Read SMS thorugh GSM Module
3. Make a phone call and receive incoming call
4. Find out Network operator
5. Hangs up the Call
List of AT Commands for SIM900A GSM Module:
The SIM Module comes with Auto baud settings most often comes with 9600 baud

I am using airtel 4G SIM for this. I am getting the call when we use the command. But I couldn't send a message to any number. wat would be the issue? maybe it's because of my 4G SIM?

Hi Devesh, this maybe because your last byte means termination will be wrong when you send commands to GPS Module through Serial COM Port
Bro, u need to disconnect usb and reconnect
continuous straght lines,not able to write AT commands...help me.!

Maybe check baud rate or connection between Tx and Rx Pins. I hope this may help you get your GSM Module working.....Good luck!

Hi Mr. Manish, with this module you can make arduino to connect to internet and then do whatever you wish to do. Alone this module will not help you much as its just a GSM Module for providing connectivity. I never used Windows FAX especially on Won7. I hope this may help you. Have a good day. Thanks

No, you cant use it. It only supports 2G

You can buy SIM card for your GSM Module from any nearby Mobile phone shop
It 's a beautyfull lesson , but i'm in Africa .how may i do for get this module , in my country . Someone know a website where they sale and delivery . thanks

Thank's Genie, unfortunately I don't know any site which can guarantee the delivery of GSM Module for Arduino. Maybe you can try once eBay or something similar.

There are several version on GSM Modules out there. If your module doesn't have one then use RESET Pins on SIM900A module and connect to Ground pin to reset otherwise best way is to contact support from the brand you've purchased. I hope this may help you somehow. Good luck and best wishes!

Hi Sandie, It depends on you mobile data network operator. It has nothing to do with GSM Module. It's a job of Mobile card which will be used in SIM900A GSM Module. I hope this can help. Have a beautiful day
