Silver Eagle Tac Pro 12GA Shotgun

This is a over view and disassembly of the Silver Eagle Tac Pro. I filmed this video a few weeks ago. However in light of the mass shooting in Colorado I waited to upload it.

The barrel shroud is not for looks. It's for when you let off 20 rounds and the barrel gets hot. That shroud will protect your hands if you ever accidentally grab it. It does give it a good look tho.

This was very informative, thanks for the video. I wasn't able to get that barrel nut unscrewed, I doubt they cross threaded it at the build but maybe. I am going to take it to the dealer I bought it from tomorrow and have him look at it. I noted what Tanker Slapnack said about having been told that stage of the breakdown is better handled by a gunsmith but you just unscrewed it with ease and kept moving through the breakdown so I am looking forward to getting that resolved so that I can do the same. I haven't had an opportunity to try the shotgun out but definitely looking forward to it. This video and the following comments are full of info. so thanks again for posting it.

@@chill62751 Thanks. I'm going to try a pair of channel locks with a cloth wrapped around the barrel nut to see if I can unscrew it. I think that will work out. Great video. ************************************************************************* Ok, that didn't work. I took it to the store I purchased it from and the gunsmith put it on the bench and couldn't get it off, he said they over torqued it or it seized up somehow so we are sending it back and he said they will probably just send back a new shotgun ..? I'm extremely grateful for your video and am so glad that something inspired me to learn how to disassemble the gun before I ever used it. :-)

@@slowwalkprepping dang man. I’m having the same issue. I just received mine yesterday and I can’t get the piston retaining ring off either. Tried two strap wrenches. One on the ring the other on the base with the gas release holes, no luck. Going to run it over to my gun smith tomorrow. How was the return process? How long did it take to get back? I spoke to TR Imports several times on the phone and they have been great. Seems like it will be easy.

@@Dredreaper The firearms store I purchased it from returned it to the factory..I'm an OTR truck driver and was heading out the following day for 5 weeks on the road. Seems that week number 4, I got an email from the store saying they had it back and I could come pick it up which I did the following week. After yet one more time out on the road I finally had a chance to test it out, just a few weeks ago at the store's indoor range. I used OO shot in a 9 round mag. I was VERY pleased with its performance HOWEVER I admit I'm a newbie at owning a shotgun so naturally I was thrilled.. I did a basic cleaning to it later that evening but didn't break it down so when I get home mid Sept. I'm gonna see if the barrel nut actually comes off now. I can see it's the same one as I put a few knicks on it while trying t remove it. Anyhow, to me the inconvenience and wait was worth it, just made the suspense of trying it out that much more gratifying when I finally got to give it a test run. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for posting this video on the Silver Eagle Tac Pro teardown. I just got mine a few weeks ago and like it a lot. I have just bought 3 extra choke tubes for it. (this has been a pain as it has a funky thread pattern) if it helps you, or anyone else, that wants to get extra chokes for their shotgun, it uses Stevens 555 thread pattern ( Beretta mobile style chokes). I plan on trying them out today to see how far I can extend the range. The one that it comes with is an improved cylinder. I bought modified, full and extra full chokes. I want to be able to use it for plinking and home defense and hope the different constructions help me do this. We'll see here shortly.

Great hope you enjoy it. Get some blue LOCTITE for the mag release button. It loosens up after firing. Another comment I got from an owner is keep it clean. The one I have shoots well but it will have certain amount of feed issues. Shotgun shells weren't meant for box magazines.

@@chill62751 Thanks for the heads up on the mag release button. I haven't had any problems with the mag release button or feeding and cycling. I am reloading my own shotgun shells. I bought a reloader when I got the shotgun. As long as the rounds are not superlight like 7/8 or 1 oz loads. It feeds and cycles great. I load a 1 1/8 oz. load at around 1,250 fps. it seems to like them really well. Now, if we can just find primers, without having to spend an arm or leg to buy them all be be good. Mark thanks for taking the time to do a tear down on this. What are your thoughts on maybe ordering another of the rubber gasket/ donuts above the barrel nut to keep as spare? It is not shown or listed in the parts breakdown! The manual has a lot to be desired. Took mine out the other day after doing a tear down, cleaning, lube and reassemble. It cycled everything I put through it, mostly low brass. The only problem I had was a Typhoon F12 5rd mag would not feed properly. I have several other Turkish AR12 mags( VR80, Panzer. Nobile1) that worked great but it was the only one that caused a problem. It was at the end of the day so didn't have time to trouble-shoot it, but next time I will. All in all I was very happy with my first outing with this shotgun. UPDATE 4/20/21 talked to the TR Imports service guy and they have had no reports of "Ring Failure" and at this time they do not stock a spare in the US. He also suggested using "Gun Scrubber" as the cleaner for these. Also that they consider the removing of the barrel nut as a Gun Smith level maintenance not owner level and don't use WD 40 on them.

I think having a spare rubber gasket would be great. Especially if you use any type of spray cleaner for the carbon. Here is the issue I had with the magazines. I bought a 10 round and another 5 round. The first 5 round wouldn't seat in the weapon. Called TR Imports and they sent me a new one. This one worked but was a little tight. The ones that came with the shotgun go in perfectly. The 10 round also seats with no issue.
