Super cute! In my family a coin was always cooked inside birthday cakes. Whoever got the piece with the coin in it was to have good luck for the coming year. You learned pretty quick to look for it before chewing, lol.

I’m spending the day mudlarking with you all the way from my living room in Florida. It’s now the one where you have on your lights for finding radio-active treats. You just found a pipe with a rather long stem. It reminded me of a guide I once had in a trip to England. Several of us had purchased “broken” clay pipes in an antique store. He explained how the stem was broken off by the smoker over the course until the stem was so short the pipe was no longer smokable. The reason being the smoker’s saliva and tobacco smoke collected in the end as pipe was smoked and tongued/enjoyed. This tended to clog the small end sticking together and to the clay while pipe lay waiting to be lit for next smoke. More tobacco pushed into the bowl, lighted and the process begun again. This is also the reason early pipe stems were long. The pipe lasted longer. My great-grandmother crossed the continent of America in 1848 traveling The Oregon Trail. She was 8 years old. I’m her later life she smoked a corncob pipe. I’ve 2 purchased over the years in memory of her. None of hers remained. Probably thrown away. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!!
