Haha yeah, that was a perfect cast , with the shade from the tree’s and placing his spinner bait so close to the edge it would have to look like something just ran into the river off the bank from the fishes point of view. He worked it real nice , even a little pull right at the very end to reassure the fish it was a bait running for its life.

They did that with lamprey but not with wels. Wels avoid fully grown living humans. They prey on small dogs and maybe toddlers and munch dead bodies, but adults are way out of their food range. We're the only predators that hunt them so they learned to avoid us. The wels where just an other food source in case of a siege.

В нулевых, дятька, любитель рыбалки, ну вы поняли, поехал с своими друзьями, те вообще любители, правда выпить, на волгу, днем на удочку ловили, а вечером на острогу попробовать решили. Волга разливается, поля затапливает, и сомы, могут даже выползать немного. Дядька говорит, ни че себе сомяра, его приятель- так бей че стоишь?. Дятька спокойно так- так он к тебе пошел. Тот короче увидел, что сом с человеческий рост, с испугу от него аш задом побежал. Это надо было видеть😂

& just think, they get 3x times bigger(much heavier& a lil longer) than this big, "little" siluro... The rivers near my home (italy) are full of these monster fish...& if you release one after you land it, you can get in big trouble, with court & fines, & possible confiscation of fishing gear, 🎣 and probably also take away your licence.. the siluro here is classed as an invasive species, so you have to unalive it....I unalive all 10kg & under..but the big boys, I release..(its method in madness, guys, I kno but it works) The small one's , up to 5/6kg we use for bait, ..just hook those up, set your tackle up, & start fishing...(yes, they will eat eachother) Our "fishing & wildlife" experts, in the 1950s, decided to release 500 "wels catfish" the siluro into the river system. The idea was, if they lived, it will be a good sport for the fisherman, & if the fish died? Well no problem..?so they let go 500, just 4" long, siluri.. Only the siluri, they thrived, & took over the river systems, then they made it into all the lakes in the North italy, & have arrived at the "gates to Switzerland" (flood gates, of course💧🐋💧)..Switzerland is probably the only country in Europe that has no siluro. Bigger than a reef. And this isn't as big as this type of cat fish gets. They get a bit bigger like around 10-12 feet long and fat. All muscle kind of thick. Very dangerous. Сомик килограм на 150 - 200 Ленивая рыба но сопротивлятся может и быстро устаёт. Поэтому вытягиваем голову бьём по губам увесистой дубинкой и отпускаем чтобы успокоился. Потом можно вытащить в лодку если лодка очень устойчива! А лучше взять веревку и продеть насквозь через жабры. Руками не лезть! Палкой или проволкой. Завизать как ошейник над головой и длиной 3-5 метров и можно спокойно тащить на буксире.

He is my Russian fellow, and fishing is pretty common shit for Russia, and catfish (Сом, на русском) is pretty much everywhere. We have karps and shuka too, but catfishes are commonly and grow really big. In Sochi, Rostov mostly, there are really f-cking big catfish. From 3 to 5 metres in length.
