Hi Chef Evi , I've never seen hens sit like this before, plus they are both so fluffy in plumage that they can't help but be super cute. I love how the one hen comes up now and again like a periscope and then descends to the depths of the pot! All the very best, Sue xx

Hi Charles - a great description! They are so wedged in there, I'm surprised they can both breathe but they seem to be so content and I have a sneaking suspicion as they are right at the back door, they are happy to be in pole position for any impromptu snacks! Pollyanna, I so agree! They have allowed just one hen to lay an egg in there but when I took it away they decided to stick with the wooden one! All the very best from Normandie, Sue xx

They're friends. My hens would double up in a nest if they were buddies but if not, the newcomer got the boot. Thank You! I miss your videos. A happy spot in my day.

Hi there and thank you for your lovely words, they are appreciated! I agree, these friendships are very logical and sitting can be a lonely occupation and I guess pretty boring too! I've had up to three hens sit together in the past and two sitting together (in a tree stump) once hatched twenty chicks but I've never had a hen totally sitting on top of the hen, who is sitting the egg. I was really worried at first that the one below would suffocate but I should have known by now that hens know best. I'm going to try and get another film out in the next few days, again it's a first, 'Petunia the anti-social Wyandotte'. Normally if I get a hen or cockerel that doesn't like other birds, then they will like being around humans but this hen, that we've re-homed, hates us all, so the challenge will be to try and get her out into the garden proper, at the moment she is in a greenhouse but I'm in desperate need of planting that up.. So as we say it's 'muck or nettles' and we'll see how it goes, hopefully without loss of feathers! All the very best from Normandie, Sue xx

Hi Gina, Greetings from Normandie! We've been concentrating on food production, so have been mostly outside or in the greenhouse. This sort of occurrence just blows the craziness away and makes me think of all the great wonders of the world and how really funny and fascinating things can be found right outside the garden door. I have more videos coming soon, it's going a little rainy over here for the next week, so the garden can just grow and get on with it and I'll get time to edit. Much love, Sue xx
