This is all well and good for making silage, but the viewers must realise this is just a very small part of Dairy Farming, just a few weeks of the whole year. The main part of Dairy Farming is the ability to get up at 4-5am nearly everyday of the year and get the milk out of the cows whilst maintaining quality and being observant with animal health and then repeating the process 9-10hrs later. Feeding out is the easy part, basically just sitting down and been clean, dry and warm. A NZ farmer.

We do not cover our bales. There is some weathering, but round bales maintain quality fairly well, especially if they have net wrap to help shed the rain.

GREAT VIDEO. The only thing is that CANADA HAS QUOTAS ON MILK, which means that you can only milk so many cows. Canada has a lot of land and resources but not many kids to drink the milk. The average marriage has 1.6 kids , so the quotas are needed to do not oversupply. Best regards from dairy country, Durango, mexico

In Philippines, I had trained dairy for 6 months just because I love dairy farming. Our goal is to go abroad just like new Zealand. Other Filipinos had got there but then they fake their documents that is why they black list the Philippines to get dairy workers. For our side who really gave our time to train hard just to pursue our dreams as dairy farmers, it really hurts. But then i always have my hope that someday, i got there and if God bless me more, i reach canada to work as dairy farmer for the future of my family....

Great work...where in Sask are you, I worked for a guy in Estavan in the '90's. How many cows does 2500 acres support? We run 3 coes/ha he in NZ but I am sure our cows are about half yours! You must get frustrated with the rocketing grain prices due to biofuels?

I just wanna ask that how many times do you feed your cows in a day(24 hours). This is a relly good mix for the cows in the mixer and actually when the tractor pass, it leaves too much food for the cows. Is that enough for one time in a day?
