Sika Deer Hunting New Zealand (The Rut continues) EP 3

Спорт

The quest continues hunting for Sika Stags during the rut. Peter and Allan again get close to the action with the result being a couple of nice eight-point Stags taken.

Awesome footage guys. Yes Pete, I think you are a fussy bugger, I'd be stoked with any of those eights. Looks like great bush.

Reuben, most hunters would be happy with either Stag. Getting a Stag 170DS plus for Pete has been a challenge.

Great video and information. I wanted to ask what stag call do you recommend? I just recently started hunting sika in Japan and it's hard to find a good call. Elk calls just don't cut it.

Tell us about the green tape on the rifle muzzle - this to keep water out? You just shoot thru it?

Awesome vid guys 👍 Have owned a model 94 30/30 for probs 25yrs an I found fairly quickly the standard open sights r vague at best unless ur within 50 meters for a snap shot. I fitted very soon after buying the gun a set of Williams peep sights an that was a game changer. For close scrub or spot light shooting pigs out of the ute bouncing across the cultivation I unscrew the inner sight oriface insert which widens ur sight picture. So if u can see the animal inside the rear sight ring an the ring an pin of the front sight it’s dead. But now with this sight fitted I will no problem take confident accurate shots to 200m on pigs. Hit me up on Facebook or insta an I’ll send u some pics of my gun as once u fit one u will wonder how u ever used the gun without it👍

Big D, the majority of our Sika deer bush hunting during the Rut is normally well under the 50 metre mark but on the next Episode that distance gets extended!!

@@AJProductions-films cool looking forward to it as ur close up footage is amazing as where I’m from there is no deer so I thoroughly enjoyed seeing an new game animal doing its thing 👍 I mentioned the peep sights as was pretty happy with my 30/30 before but since fitting them it’s the 1st gun I will pick up out of all my 8 rifles unless I’m shooting further than 300m, ha I’ve even shot rabbits with it 😁 I like it because I can c the whole target as the rear sight doesn’t obscure most of the animal particularly at longer distances. As the dot on the tip of the front sight can be easily held high in the sight oriface for the longer shots an the target is still clearly visible. So instead of manually adjusting ur rear sight for a longer shot u hold high and if it’s a running shot u hold the dot to the leading side of the sight picture all while having full vision of the animal. Once u get used to it it makes snap shooting over any distance so much easier 👍👍
