We are pleased to release a remastered 4K version of the video for Untitled #1 (Vaka) as part of our ( ) 20th anniversary season.
The video depicts a post-apocalyptic world, where children leave school, wearing gas masks in order to play “safely” outside. The sky is blood red and black ash falls like snow. It is not clear what catastrophic event was the cause, or where and when this is. For many the video foreshadows a bleak, not so distant future, but more importantly it represented the current reality for many children in the world when it was first released, and today, 20 years on.
Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the video went on to win best video at the MTV EMA awards in 2003.

Sigur Ros are not from this world. They sound like they come from a world far away, as desolate as the one in this video. And yet, it sounds like a world where joy can still be found. That's what it makes me feel, at least

This song is so important in the history of modern music.. really shows where the human mind can take sound. Always been one of my favs, and still makes me cry to this day.

Back then I was working as a teacher and one of my students talked me about this band. I’ll be eternally grateful for that. I love this music and I’ll always do. Thanks!

Floria Sigismondi directed this. Makes me proud that someone from my hometown is somehow connected with this band and song!

Floria Sigismond always makes weird and beautiful videos. I think this video and Tricky's “Makes me wanna die” are her best work.

Sigur Ros have a way of penetrating your soul in a sad and beautiful way. I've got a five year old boy and this makes me love him more.❤️

When I think of some way in which I could have behaved better in a relationship, it makes me tearful and a bit ashamed.
Still the finest music video ever made for me. Nothing comes close. And one of the most powerful and compelling music pieces man has ever crafted and likely ever will.

Все так же талантливо и прекрасно, но я любила и люблю Jonsi именно за возможность убежать от этих невыносимых навязчивых мыслей, за возможность почувствовать любовь к жизни, ее тепло, нежность, даже если тебе тяжело и одиноко. Будто все то кошмарное, отвратительное, что происходит с миром, с людьми, все сильнее давит на их творчество, что становятся все более мрачным с привкусом безвозвратности.

Ваши комментарии чудесны и проникновенны. Знаете, лет 10 назад один знакомый спросил, что я слушаю. Дал ему, это был альбом Sigur Ris, он спросил, как эта загробная музыка может нравится;) О вкусах не спорят. Знаете, хочу через 10 лет перебраться в Исландию, надеюсь встретить вас на их концерте

ikr? The only other competition for me are.......other Sigur Ros songs. Especially Svefn-g-Englar and The Nothing Song. To name just two out of maaaany. There are a ton of bands/artists that I love. But only _one_ I'd legit want played at my funeral. Sigur Ros.
