Sigur Rós - Popplagið (Live in Reykjavík) [Remastered Heima extra]
July 30th, 2006. "Klambratún looks very impressive. A large, sloping, grassy site, a few hundred metres away from the centre of town, it has never staged a large-scale music event before and the hope is Sigur Rós could set some sort of precedent. Finni, our film producer from the immaculate True North production company, tells me he has managed to blag a helicopter to take some aerial shots of the event. Also in the air is the PA, which is hanging from two enormous cranes on either side of a stage specially imported from the Roskilde Festival in Denmark.
Jónsi turns up on his shopper bike from his apartment downtown, while Georg parks his caravan round the back of the art museum that will today serve as our dressing room and place where we will later shake hands with the great and the good of Reykjavík who have contributed funding to make this unique event financially feasible. I meet the folks from Reykjavík city council who put their money where their mouths were, while Craig, the Word journalist, tells me he’s been introduced to no fewer than half the current cabinet. Later, the President himself will turn up, but, despite urging from the band, his First Lady will refuse to parade across the stage with the brass band at the climax of ‘Se Lest’." - John Best

Quite simply one of the greatest songs ever recorded. The catharsis it evokes has no equal.

I will never forget the first time I saw/heard this performance. I was hypnotised. Imho by far the best piece of Sigur Rós. Popplagið is beyond what normal music can achieve.

Yes, there is nothing like it in music. Saw it for the first time this year and it was like watching popcorn pop.
One of the best, longest and moving crescendo in a song.
First time I saw this song performed in 2006 the usher had to come wake me from a stupor and lead me out of the venue. To this day I have absolutely no recollection of how long I sat there with my jaw on the floor. It was the single most incredible concert experience of my lifetime and this version from that same year is the best representation ever captured on film. Simply sublime.

Goosebumps. Every single time.
Watched this gem with my Biology teacher in class today. After that we spent the entire period talking about music. Definitely the most memorable part was listening to this. I would tune in and out from it and every time I did it sounded like it just got better and better each minute.
The song that started my love of the band. Absolute masterpiece.
I saw them at Werchter ‘23 yesterday. They played this song. Mesmerizing.
Holy crap. With the screens and the shadows... what a great show. I've never seen Sigur Ros ! I've been to well over 600 concerts since I was teen (I'm 63)... but I gotta see them !

I still haven’t heard anything like them. There are other, great post rock bands (Godspeed in particular, check out lift your skinny fists) but none of them had a pop sensibility like sigur ros does. As subtle as it can be, all of their songs have incredibly memorable hooks and I love it.

My best all time song. This performance is amazing. Don't forget Amiina band...🖤🖤🖤
Huge credit went to Amiina. I still remember seeing them together played. The particular version of Popplagio was just gradually intensed with their strings and Orri's percussion.. the live experience was just way out of this world. Can't remember how long we clapped our hands after this song ended.
This audience, on this night, witnessed something truly magical.
The best performance of their best song hands down.

Look for the version done in Cleveland about 7 or 8 years ago.
This is whats music all about. Emotion, feelings, tension, excitement, skills, passion and more....
Just here for my daily dose of goosebumps and silent tears. Obsessed.

This is on another level of everything
I saw them in Cleveland, Ohio a few years ago playing with the string quartet and a brass quartet. Popplagio was beyond anything I had ever experienced before. I should add that I saw Pink Floyd in 1971, 73, 75, and 77.
Still the most incredible sound I've heard, and I've seen Sigur Ros 4 times now, mind blowing 🤯
They performed this last week at The Beacon Theater, it was epic!
One of my all time favorites, can’t sait to watch!
Greatest song ever conceived and recorded
That was absolute perfection! As someone else said, the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard!
Holy Moly !
Gorgeous
Incredible song, top performance

This song is immense. Imho their most powerful piece. I have always thought it pairs up with track #5 (Alafoss) of the album (). Sigur Ros made a lot of beautiful records I love, but to me these two tracks are of another level.
Timeless singularity. That is what this song was like when we saw them last November in Brussels.
