Signs of a Complicit Relationship - PART III: Completing Each Others Missing Pieces [RE SPOILERS]

CLERITH: Signs of a Complicit Relationship
-This was originally going to be one video but there was too much different focus and it felt really disorganized. A single scene can have multiple things to say. So I decided to redo everything and organize them into parts.
PART I : What Aerith Means to Cloud
• Signs of a Complicit R...
PART II: What Cloud Means to Aerith
• Signs of a Complicit R...
Intermission: The Zacloud Fallacy
• Signs of A Complicit R...
PART III: Completing Each Others Missing Pieces
PART IV: Love Beyond the Surface of a Game
A Complicit Relationship
Sharing the same ideas doesn’t necessarily mean that there is complicity in your relationship. It’s not just about harmony between two people… Complicity goes much, much deeper; it’s a question of providing your partner with what they’re missing!

I just want to say that Part III is actually the main reason I created these vids. The next part is just more on the developers intent and is the last part of the series. This all started with a zerith/cloti fan who I thought I was having a fun and logical conversation with. Until it turned sideways and they started saying Clerith was a toxic relationship (please note this is not a view of the entire fandom but only to these select fans). Aerith they say was manipulative (that's how they interpret her trying to bring out Cloud's true character) and abusive (that's how they interpret her teasing him) and that Cloud is mean to her and could not care less if other people are mean to her as well stemming from his annoyance of her character. This baffled me really hard. For someone to interpret Cloud and Aerith's interactions this way shocked me to the core. I know there is no point trying to convince those people of the truth. They probably want to believe it. But to some people who might be starting and those who are confused and have not made up their minds yet, I thought I would do this video to showcase how beautiful Cloud and Aerith's relationship really is. Thanks a lot for your support guys!

Not sure if anyone noticed, but when Aerith joins Cloud in his battle against Sephiroth on Remake, she giggles when Cloud answers "not really" to her question "did you miss me?" She is so accustomed to his responses and knows how he is (the awkward and socially confused Cloud). However, the one time she teases him by saying "so you are worried about me too?" and he breaks character and says "of course I am" (dream sequence/resolution), I feel like it surprises her as she is not expecting Cloud to be so honest with his feelings. Her tone changes from the playful/light-hearted character to a somber/serious one. It would be incredible if Square Enix can build more on their relationship and show them being more open and honest about their true feelings in the Remake sequels.

Another thing I noticed is that in sector 7, Tifa is very much liked by everyone and everyone seems protective/flirtatious with her but those same people were pretty unwelcoming to Cloud (ie. Marle). Heck, I wouldn’t want to be nice if someone said those comments to me! In comparison to Sector 5, Aerith is also well liked but everyone trusts her and her judgement as well. So when she brings Cloud around, she not only introduces him/shows him off a little but everyone just automatically trusts him because they trust her. They were more respectful of him and we all know respect goes both ways... (and I think that’s why, when left to his own devices, Cloud was able to respond appropriately and help and his walls start breaking down. When he’s usually defensive). His side quests in sector 5 are also meaningful to the people he’s helping. Which is different from Sector 7 which were just odd jobs

Perfect observation. It is indeed different. I was actually roaming the area quite a lot to observe chapter 3 and there really was no meaningful interactions to the people. Cloud was just a merc. But in sector 5 slums, the children started idolizing him and the adults seem to respect him, although more on the fact that he's Aerith's companion. But the children seem to like him more than they like Aerith. lol

I think a good move from Tifa's part is to reassured to the people that Cloud is a great guy or something or maybe "he's a little stubborn but a great person" idk, I just don't like how she's reminded him over and over again to be nice. Clearly, the lady is being kinda hostile and rude towards Cloud and he is just reacting on how she's talking to him. I understand being nice can be a good thing and stuff like that but it's not your obligation to be nice all the time when someone else talks horrible against you. It does not work that way. And I feel sorry for Cloud, you can even see in his face how he doesn't like to be there with on how she is trash talking about him. Maybe it's me but is the way how I see it and Tifa isn't help much in this situation either. Yeah girl, take him out of his comfort zone but give the man a little push on his back. Just because she is a friend of avalanche it doesn't mean she can be rude to your friends! More importantly someone you call a "childhood friend" ( I know they didn't interacted very much in their younger years) Anyways, sorry for making this a little long. It just, it bothers me at some point.

I noticed this too; whenever he’s with Tifa, Cloud’s always depicted as this cold and distant person and it’s because he’s treated that way. Just to throw some examples 1. Bullied and outcasted by Tifa and her friends when he was a kid 2. Adults hate Cloud because they think he’s brought danger to Tifa (even though it’s Tifa’s own fault) 3. Sector 7 people didn’t welcome Cloud with open hands when he hangs around with Tifa I read people’s comment in some other video that says even Cloud is more cheerful when he’s out of Nibelheim (with Zack and his infantrymen) With Aerith, she seems like she’s able to introduce Cloud in a positive manner.. and people trust Aerith’s judgement that’s why she’s a perfect “door opener” for Cloud to show his true self. He’s just an introvert that needs some help to loosen up himself due to past trauma that happened to him.

@Okamix exactly! Why should Cloud be admonished to be nice when ppl are hostile and treating him with suspicion? Why doesn’t Tifa tell Marle to back off a little? She didn’t have Cloud’s back in that situation. It’s also interesting to note this difference in Tifa and Aerith too. Tifa herself is nice no matter what, but Aerith does get mad and shows it (with those Corneo men calling her homely and at the colosseum when the crowd said rude things).

Agreed. The tragedy of Cloud and Tifa is that they both were consumed by a fantasy world when Nibelheim was destroyed, (Cloud understandably more so) to cope with the trauma and Aerith didn't get to live to see the truth. If she had, I reckon she could have helped both heal the wounds to their psyche - Cloud especially - as he can relate to her Cetra heritage with his own unique connection to the planet, in a way that few, if anyone else, can. Traits wise, I do reckon that Aerith connected with Cloud so quickly and easily not just beacuse of their pseudo-spiritual link with the lifestream but also because both have similar experiences that shaped their personailities. Both suffered abandonment from their peers in childhood and developed their own defense mechanisms to cope in their personalities - defenses which they both intuiitvely see right through in each other: - Aerith is impulsive and flighty, hiding from commitment and a lack of motivation behind a smile and silliness, generally avoinding serious or heavy words (except with Cloud). - Cloud is aloof and puts up a front of superiority to justify his being separated from others, which in turn drives his motivation to live up to the standard he sets for himself (or the heroes he worshipped, e.g. Sephiroth). However when together Cloud can't bring himself to push Aerith's silly affectations away, and actually makes an effort to sincerely reciprocate it. Aerith in turn doesn't push for Cloud to do more, to be better (as Tifa does e.g. "Be nicer Cloud!") because she reads how hard he's pushing himself all the time. Aerith herself is caught in serious moments by Cloud where his sincerity and determination to: spend time with her, respect her connection to the lifestream, care for her, to push her to leave Midgar's walls, to have hope; which she cannot hide from and can't help but show gratitude for each unconditional commitment Cloud offers.

From the moment Cloud falls to Aerith’s Church, all the way to Wall Market, it is nothing but Cloud & Aerith one-on-one. Beauty, fun, flirting, & flowers. Magnetism, electricity, and excitement. Soulmates reunited (the automatic trophy for the “Budding Bodyguard” chapter is “Reunion" - “Reunion Flower” in Japanese). Aerith’s Church & flower bed is beautiful. Cloud & Aerith poetically run through the breathtaking rooftops. Cloud saves Aerith from falling (holding her like a Prince holds his Princess). They pick flowers together at her house. Give high-fives in the tunnel. Share a date in the park. Fight in the battle arena. Cloud even dresses up as a girl. Aerith watches Cloud dance. The red dress. Fireworks. Magic. Chemistry. Love. The perfectly constructed romantic progression. Then, after ALL that, Cloud is obsessed with rescuing Aerith from Shinra HQ. Cloud has to constantly remind Tifa & Barret that finding Aerith is the #1 priority. He is her bodyguard, after-all. At the very end, Aerith is the one who confronts Sephiroth and asks everyone to join her in stopping him. Unlike Tifa, Aerith is the main storyline. Aerith propels the story forward with her Cetra heritage. Cloud x Aerith is literally given a dream scene where Cloud states he wants his OWN SAY on loving Aerith. The dream scene is also found in the credits (unlike the Tifa hug). By the time Cloud goes from Aerith’s Church, to Wall Market, to Shinra HQ, Tifa’s lackluster moments are long forgotten. Tifa is given filler scenes during the first few chapters. Her promise scene is muddied within Jessie’s side-mission. In-fact, everything Tifa gets is overshadowed by Jessie, and eventually forgotten after Aerith comes into the picture. As a Clerith, the Remake is more than anything I could have ever DREAMED of. Remember: In the dream scene Cloud disagrees with Aerith’s proposition that his feelings aren’t real & states he wants HIS OWN SAY on loving Aerith. After Aerith says Cloud’s love for her isn’t “real,” he completely disagrees with her. Cloud wants his own say on the matter. This is SE’s way of telling us the REAL Cloud loves Aerith. This is SE’s way of making it crystal clear that these are Cloud’s feelings; *NOT* Zack’s. Again - Cloud wants his OWN SAY on the matter. - In regards to Zerith, in the Remake Aerith states she must move FORWARD with her life. In the OG, Aerith said Zack & her were "never serious,” that her relationship with him is “in the past now,” and that Zack probably moved on because he’s a “real lady’s man.” The Remake confirms this to be true. Aerith wants to move FORWARD with her life. Plus, we know from the CxA Gold Saucer date that although Aerith initially liked Cloud because of Zack, she grows to like Cloud for Cloud. - The great flower debate: Aerith gives the flower to Cloud. Whether or not Cloud gives it to Tifa, it still initially represents the reunion between “lovers” Cloud & Aerith. Tifa has to inquire about the flower. Cloud doesn’t automatically give it to her without prompting. Later, when Cloud interacts with the flower, he still associates it with Aerith. Cloud doesn’t want to admit to Aerith that he gave the flower away. After going to Aerith’s house, which is filled with flowers, Tifa confronts Cloud about the origin of the flower (ie: Aerith). As if she knows Cloud’s heart is with Aerith. The automatic trophy for “Budding Bodyguard” is “Reunion” - “Reunion Flower” in Japanese. - Aerith brings Cloud’s happiness to the surface - he slowly starts to high-five her on the reg. In addition, while sleeping at Aerith’s house, Cloud is triggered into a real memory of his Mother telling him to have an “older” girlfriend. Between Cloud’s memory of his mother, and his desire to be playful with Aerith, we are witnessing Aerith evoking the real Cloud back to the surface. I mean, hell - Cloud is now willing to sit around and pick flowers for a living. With Aerith, that is, of course. Cloud even vows to rescue Aerith from Shinra HQ at “all costs” and wants his “own say” on if he is allowed to fall in love with Aerith: “Gradually, Aerith’s warm cheer begins to melt Cloud’s frosty exterior. It is the heroine, Aerith, who opens Cloud’s eyes, and helps bring him closer to understanding the mystery that is his past.” ~Square Enix - “Hollow” - Official FF7R song: “Smile bright Once more This time I will never let you go” “Hollow” also plays during Sector 5 (Aerith’s Sector). This is when Cloud & Aerith spend tons of one-on-one time together. I was wondering why I thought her Sector had the best new song in the game. Now it all makes sense ^.^

About the flower debate, yes cloud gave the flower to tifa, but to me that was resolved in Tifa's resolution scene when she realized sadly that the flower he gave was from aerith and that she knew "something was going on", that she tried to keep it alive but is not lost, dead and buried in the rubble. That basically said it all, at least to me. Seemed like even Tifa knew something was going on or developing between Aerith and Cloud.

@@potatoking4227 Cloud obv cares for tifa, but the nature of it is not necessarily romantic. Tifa mentioning the flower seems like Tifa coming to a realization about Cloud & Aerith (The scene confirms the flower is symbolic of Aerith because Tifa herself connects the flower to Aerith). Then the flower that's dead and buried makes her think of everything she has lost or they (cloud & tifa) have lost so far. Makes sense since it's her resolution to save Aerith and how they don't want to lose her too.

I seriously think that this not happend on the initial FF7, for only at the Gondola she said that she want's to know the real Cloud, but on RE, she is figuring out pretty well, and this lead me to think about the fact that she has seen what happens, and wants to develop her relationship with him more, before the tragic moment (that I hope is not going to happend this time). Also because Aerith knows how things are going to go, and even Cloud, with his flashbacks, has figured something out. Not to mention that he also saw the danger for Barret and Tifa in being killed by Sephiroth. If one knows things, do you think he is not on his guard in this regard?

I also wanted to say that the high five development was some of the best I've ever seen. It says so much about them. It is a recurring image for a reason and done throughout the game. At first, we see tifa raise a high five at cloud instinctively after celebrating with Barret, knowing cloud she quickly realized he probably wouldn't go for that and let's off after that. Cloud knows him and tifa have this mutual understanding, so he doesn't feel bad. But with Aerith, he is afraid to show that side of himself. He even scoffs at her compliment about being a crane operator because at this point, I don't think he fully trusts her. But upon seeing her disappointment at him rejecting her, he makes a HUGE step outside of his comfort zone and goes for it. He realizes that maybe he can open up a bit, showing camaraderie is ok. They mess up, Aerith apologizes and understands that it did indeed take a lot for cloud to to do that, so she makes it her priority to make things right. They high five, and cloud trusts her. She won't make fun of him and accepts him. And as you said, all of this culminated after hell house. There's a reason they lingered on that shot. My favorite arc. The collapsed expressway music, the moments, so magical.

Cloud and Aerith suit each other so well, it’s as the though the developers created each character to compliment the other...oh wait. They were the first two characters created for the OG. Infact, I’ve read that the developers decided to create another female character (Tifa) much later to help the main character pick up the pieces after he lost his ‘love’. Before Advent Children, Cloud kept visiting the church where he first met Aerith again and again, without telling Tifa. It’s where he first encounters Denzel, and I’m guessing that is why Cloud has such a bond with the boy. I mean no disrespect to Tifa fans, but, as a couple, Cloud and Tifa have the chemistry of a couple on the verge of divorce. They are much better as friends. Cloud and Aerith compliment each other so well. Notice the way Cloud allows his hand to be held by her? I hope and prey that there is a way for them to have a happy ending this time.

I honestly think that both Cloud and Aerith will die this time around, but at the very end of the game series. The only way for Sephiroth and Jenova to be gone completely is if there are no living Jenova cells left on Gaia, meaning Cloud would have to die too. On the other hand, it would bring Aerith and Cloud together where they could be happy I suppose, so there is that.

@@MrFilmmakerphil it would and would keep the narrative relatively in line whilst keeping the game fresh as well as giving us players false hope. It's probably the writer in me that has me thinking this way, but I don't see how else they can freshen up the core elements of the game, and have the same sledgehammer of an impact to our emotions. The OG doesn't do the best job of depicting how cloud and Aerith truly feel towards one another and takes an immense amount of reading between the lines. Fortunately I picked up on it and really felt their connection. Tifa was massively important to Cloud as well, and I really do understand how people ship them so hard. For me though Tifa only truly tried to make her feelings known to Cloud when it was too late. Helping him piece his mind back together in the lifestream was her realisation imo that she actually liked Cloud for who he was rather than who he could be. As Barrett said in the sewers to Leslie you don't know what someone means to you until you lose them. The same can be said for Cloud in the OG, he truly felt the loss of Aerith and it's always why I prefer Cloud and Aerith's relationship over Cloud and Tifa's.

ItsaDirk Sumner perhaps as players we will have a choice. Cloud and Tifa together in the living world, or Cloud and Aerith together in the life stream? I personally hope they find a way to let her live this time through alternate endings etc (remember Red XIII believes the OG timeline is the bad ending). Ridding the world of Jenova cells makes sense though, and, although I’m going massively off topic here, that would probably mean Vincent having to kill Lucrecia, as she can’t kill herself as the Jenova inside her won’t let her die. (Vincent is going to be amazing in this remake I can’t wait). Back on topic though, Cloud and Aerith together to rebuild the Cetra is my dream ending, but I agree with you, it seems too good to be true. Ridding the world of Jenova and her cells once and for all seems more plausible.

@@MrFilmmakerphil thus we will have a good story arc for Vincent too right? I know this game will be agonisingly painful in places (chapter 12 and the start of 13 for example) I'm not sure what motivation we will get with Yuffie for this though. If I had to guess though, it might have something to do with avalanche. I agree that it may come down to the players choice of which ending we get, but will be handled subtly like the chapter 14 resolution scene (which I loved honestly)

Yes, the problem with my convos with clotis so far has been the fact that they just mainly quote Ultimania and completely disregard the game itself. They use the Ultimania passage like a bible and interpret it in a way that works for them. It's like a cult sometimes. What some people dont understand is that Ultimania is not the FF7 story, it is merely a guide so you can understand the game better. One is supposed to use Ultimania knowledge inside the game so as to realize facts. Cloud being casual/comfortable with Tifa can actually be seen in the game, Ultimania just gives it more emphasis. They like to use the translation that states that Cloud is more "himself" when he is with Tifa, not realizing that within the game, the "himself" pertains to the SOLDIER persona of Cloud. He is too comfortable with Tifa as the SOLDIER Cloud so he never tries to shed this skin away. While with Aerith, in his effort to act more cool around her he stumbles. Aerith also doesnt allow him to keep his tough exterior which makes him stumble some more. And the more the SOLDIER persona stumbles, the more the real Cloud appears. Aerith sees glimses of the real Cloud that Tifa does not see. Tifa never saw the real Cloud even when they were children because she didn't notice him. In the water tower Cloud was already acting all tough with his superiority complex. But the real Cloud who felt isolated and unaccepted, Tifa never saw him until the lifestream event. Aerith saw the real Cloud way before Tifa did. Only she never met him because he had not regained his real memories at the time. I hope this time, they can really meet each other.

@@PollenAinne absolutely. what bothers me most is that they told that tifa helps him better, with as a background the scene when tifa tells him "cloud you scare me" ....................... lol. also, they dont understand that tifa also needs her memory back , that's why she is in the lifestream recovering and remembering the truth about their childhood. oh by the way, watching the remake over and over, and as you mention his soldier persona, I noticed that aerith is also very helpful when cloud gets violent and in soldier mode only using the sword. in the ghost train station when he wants to kill a ghost, she grabs his arm and remained glued to him for a few second, he got calm easily, same when they cross the black robed guy in the slums. while at the same time, in different situation but in same violent crisis experienced by cloud, tifa is scared and tells him, which that could make him feel more awkward or excluded, to know that he scares others. aerith manages to extinguish cloud violent episodes when they are not needed. the remake until now clearly shows how the cetra is essential to cloud.

NAJ P. Jackson Actually, the first version of her name was spelled « Aeris ». It was modified for « Aerith » (don’t know why or when). Adding on to what you said about Tifa vs. Aerith's attempts to get Cloud to play nice, their attempts also appeal to different parts of Cloud. Tifa appeals to Cloud's pride and work as a SOLDIER/merc. The way she frames kindness to Cloud goes as follows: 'being nice' -> better network -> more/better jobs + better pay = better merc. In this way, she frames the Sector 7 side quests purely as mercenary work which she _thinks_ will appeal to Cloud. However, this mental framework for 'being nice' makes kindness a very detached (and almost clinical) matter. Considering how Cloud uses aloofness and his merc lifestyle as a mask for his social awkwardness and desire for companionship, this approach was always bound for failure; it appeals to the superficial appearance of indifference that Cloud puts off without taking his softer, less spoken side in account. Now that I'm actually thinking about it, I'm pretty sure that Tifa doesn't have a very good grasp on Cloud's character. When Tifa states that Cloud 'isn't exactly a people's person,' I interpret that as 'Cloud doesn't like people in general' rather than 'Cloud's not good at talking to people.' If you go under the context that Tifa thinks Cloud is aloof bc he genuinely doesn't care about strangers, the way Tifa frames these side-quests makes a lot more sense. She frames these tasks as 'just another job' or 'a way to benefit himself' bc while she's pretty sure Cloud cares for her, he hasn't formed an attachment to the people of Sector 7. Therefore, in Tifa's mind, Cloud wouldn't care that he's being rude to the people she knows. Because of her nature, this urks her and she wants to fix it, but she don't know how to get him to care about other people; thus, she tries to teach Cloud manners through pragmatism. Neither of them are really happy with the results tho. Cloud only decides to stay in Sector 7 longer to fufill his promise with Tifa, and despite Tifa's efforts, he and the locals only have a begrudging tolerance of each other. While Sector 7 warm up to Cloud by the end of Tifa's side-quests, it's only towards the idea of a competent merc in town (who happens to be friends with the town's darling) rather than the two parties actually getting along with each other (excluding Avalanche). It's more accurate to say that both Cloud and the locals put up with each other for Tifa and practicality's sake than actually liking each other (once again, excluding Avalanche). To contrast, by the end of Aerith's side quests, Sector 5 accepts Cloud into their fold. Cloud is still somewhat categorized as 'Aerith's helpful friend,' but the adults are genuinely grateful towards him, and the children look up to him as a hero (enough to give him the special privelege of entering their 'secret, no-adult-allowed hideout'). Even without Aerith by his side, Cloud is welcome within the community, which is more than can be said in Sector 7. Like you've covered (absolutely beautifully, might I say) in your video, the ways in which Aerith and Cloud complement each other are very numerous, and very, _very_ sweet. Unlike Tifa, Aerith _can_ see through Cloud's pricky exterior. She understands that Cloud being aloof does not come from a place of bad character or hate, and *especially* not from indifference. Her side-quests genuinely matter to the people of Sector 5 (unlike in sector 7) and have emotional significance. Although she loosely ties the work back to mercenary work to save his pride, each quest is ultimately about doing something from someone bc it would help them in some shape or form. At their very core, Aerith's side-quests teach Cloud true kindness: being altruistic even at the expense of your own gain (he delayed going back to sector 7 even tho he really wanted to and basically did the frog king job for free). Her approach appeals to the (poorly) hidden compassion that Cloud possesses, and bc of that, it is infinitely more effective. She is not trying to create something that was not there before (like Tifa believed she was), but rather, coaxing a hidden side into the light. Aerith sees Cloud for who he is, likes what she sees, and encourages Cloud to be the best version of himself at his own pace (she isn't as pushy as Tifa on being nice) and in his own way (he forces the old man to give Moogie the cemetary key himself to make him realize that he can still make the trip to his deceased wife). Honestly, the chemistry between Cloud and Aerith is just so, so good. TL;DR version: Clerith is absolutely _beautiful_ and I love your video for opening my eyes. Thank you for getting me to overanalyze this *way* too much :D

Oh you have a very good insight to Tifa's character here. I have to admit, I never looked to deeply into Tifa. I actually agree with your assessment. This is probably the reason why she never tried to fish out the real Cloud despite her concerns about his memories. She didn't really know the real Cloud at all as the Cloud she knew when they were kids was also aloof and had a superiority complex born out of his isolation. And I totally love your insight to Cloud and Aerith's dynamic. It pleases me to see so many people can relate to the purity of their relationship. It is very heartwarming.

People who don’t agree about cloud and aerith closeness and strong bond are being subjective, bc they prefer Tifa according to their own tastes instead of being in cloud’s steps. Their relationship in the game (OG, remake, even in AC) is way more deepened than with tifa who is no more than a close and dear friend. Cloud did not know Aerith for too long (1 day please, if you do understand Cloud, sure it’s quite impressive) and yet she became such an important person, for example when he had to rescue Tifa vs when it was Aerith, it was completely the opposite, his concern was so different, at the Wall Market even though Tifa was with a disgusting pervert, he sure took his time with Aerith, if I do remember well, never had he said “hurry up we have to save Tifa” but all the time was him being overprotective over Aerith, and when Aerith was kidnapped all his concern was about saving her, always saying “don’t forget why we are here” and when they rescued her his mission was only to have her protected nothing more, he did not even have time to smoothly talk to Tifa, nothing special happened between them. Moreover, there is this point that cloti fandom seems to blindly avoid : the resolution scenes, the one with Aerith is Cloud’s resolution, not Aerith, there’s so much to say about it, plus he’s being quite talkative for someone as quiet as him when it does involve her, he’s expressing shamelessly his true self, admitting his worries, and as we mainly play Cloud in the game this scene is what should really happen in the storyline, and it does follow what’s happening in the morning where he says she’s calling for him, plus when the resolution is with Tifa there is this wall between them, he speaks only a little as if they were not on the same wavelength and somehow it felt awkward

@Pollen_Ainne @So_What I want to introduce a different perspective for the point of discussion: Cloud and Tifa's relationship (and let's be fair, throughout the series there's definite subtext to them developing one around the end of the OG game, once Aerith was gone) is still the sad story of two people who fall back on each other for everyone else's sakes, but never look forward, move forward; for they are bound most by the debt and suffering of their past. . Cloud and Tifa would make a loving family for the orphans they raised together in Edge (e.g. Denzel), they could experience passion (there is certainly enough physically desireable about each for them to be attracted to one another) but I don't think they ever did heal, as we saw in AC, nor that they ever could heal, and be _truly_ happy, together. There's too much baggage there: too much guilt and regret that Tifa tries to atone for in caring for Cloud; too little forgiveness and redemption for Cloud's restless soul to find in the wake of his failures; too many rejections in their history with each other to be at peace together, mentally and emotionally. . Tifa would be much better served as a character and hypothetical person to build a new realtionship post-Shinra and the OG, free of the burdens she places on herself - burdens that Cloud cannot absolve. I truly believe that if remake plays out the same way that the OG did, that Tifa should have a chance at a healthy romance with someone new, in the same way that Cloud got that chance when he met Aerith. As a fan of Tifa's character, I hope she gets that justice and resolution, if Cloud and Aerith must relive their tragic fates. . Of course, I would truly love to see a different outcome for Cloud and Aerith play out as well where they can all get their happy ending should Remake give us that opportunity, but I do wish that more fans of the OG (shippers especially) would think more kindly about what would be best for Tifa, as a character, *after* the events of the game. Tragically, much as I love him, I do not think Cloud is best for Tifa, let alone anyone, after losing Aerith - and so much of himself - to Sephiroth by the series' end, as it stood. . The OG's story is a beautiful tragedy and I think all fans should view it thus before simply trying to pair the surviving characters for their own satisfaction, or winning a pointless 'shipping war'. We should always remember Aerith then for everything that she could have been, to Zack, then to Cloud and all of her (and our) friends in the game, so as to remember the story how it was meant to be: Loss and unrealized potential in life; a return to all those gone in the after. . Sephiroth got it all wrong, yet he was right. _Do not fear reunion._

@@BenignViewer No, actually, I totally agree on a lot of your points (the physical attraction I'm kinda not convinced) and I know Cloud does care a lot about Tifa. . I have admitted multiple times that I am completely biased towards Cloud feelings hence my vids are about him. Which is also why I keep on caring about the outcome of his happiness and that I sometimes get frustrated at Tifa when she is unable to say the right thing or see through Cloud. But I know Tifa herself has her own guilt and problems that Cloud cannot help her with and it is really not her fault. Cloud isn't the easiest guy to be with. He doesn't express himself easily and closes himself up too often. . I really place it down to compatibility. Even before Aerith's death, even before when they were kids when Cloud had a crush on Tifa it was already established how their personalities doesn't complement each other. Cloud was socially awkward and Tifa wasn't too observant of others to actually invite him into her group. Even in RE we see something similar happen at the bar. Although she did nothing wrong, her treatment of Cloud is not something that makes him open up to her. . The end result of this type of relationship is apparent in the OG and the entire compilation. Not once does Cloud seek comfort in Tifa's arms and not once was she able to provide him solace. Unlike Aerith who Cloud clings to for support when he lost the black materia. Cloud was able to cry into her arms as he breaks down and doubts himself. Hence, in AC, Cloud's place of comfort is Aerith's church and not the home that they have built. Even in RE, with Aerith captured, she goes into Cloud's dreams and try to assure him she is fine, protect his feelings for the future outcome of events and even seek to comfort him. In all Cloud and Tifa scenes, it is Cloud giving Tifa comfort, like in the RE Resolution Scene with Tifa where Tifa cries in his arms or even under the Highwind where it is Tifa that is seen leaning into Cloud and it is Cloud that encourages her after. . But I do want Tifa to be happy too. I just think that Cloud isn't making her happy as well. When a person cannot completely open themselves to you it is hard to be happy together. However, one thing Tifa does know is that Cloud values connection that even tho he doesnt answer his phone he keeps on bringing it with him. As long as Tifa knows that Cloud still needs her, she can never move on. As Cloud carries guilt over Aerith, Tifa also carries guilt over Cloud. She will always want to be available for him. But this is a burden to her that she should not be carrying. Tifa deserves to be free and be completely loved by someone who sees only her. . But I think RE is going a different direction. I think that as long as Aerith is alive Tifa can be happy that someone is taking care of Cloud which will free her to seek her own happiness.

Looking through the Cloti shippers opinions on youtube I realise most of them ship Cloti for Tifa- her devotion to Cloud, and her willingness to put aside everything for him. They ship Cloti because they want Tifa to have her happy ending, and to get the boy she cares for. As a Clerith shipper- I ship them for Cloud. Because I want Cloud to have his happy ending, and to get the girl he cares for. Both relationships are so wonderful in their own way (and tbh I really like them as a poly trio) but I think therein lies the main difference, if the person wants Cloud's happiness or Tifa's happiness (Aerith is happy either way, because she's that sort of true gem of a girl haha).

It takes a loner, to know another loner... Aerith had a rough childhood. It could just be her powers, her intuitions, that made her realised the real Cloud behind those layers. Tifa felt the same loneliness too, but only after the "friends" that she thought she had when she lost her mother, then later abandoned her. That event might have triggered her to realise what Cloud been through, so without her realising it, she too developed feelings for Cloud from the well incident that night. Tifa said so herself in her lifestream event recollection, that she had begun to think about Cloud, missing Cloud etc. But the way she found her way into Cloud (or rather, the way Cloud found his into hers) was accidental and sadder still... Consequential. She knew Cloud or thought she knew, entirely because of the string of events that happened. And that would likely stay hidden to her if that event never happened. Cloud might not say it aloud, but I am pretty sure he felt it, which is why in his heart he feels it is complicated between him and Tifa. He liked her, and she liked him. But not in the most direct way but due to how it unfolds. To put it bluntly, Cloud might even say Tifa made him her choice out of lack of option (but he won't, because he is a genuinely a nice guy). Again, Tifa said so herself, admitting she never knew Cloud "that close" prior to the Mt Nibel incident. So going back to Aerith, she had none of that drama with Cloud. Everything that happened between them happened naturally, and they responded to each other just as naturally as well. There is no "because of, therefore so". And certainly "No I wished, therefore you'll do it". I guess between the two, it is easy to tell apart which one is true love, while the other one is a consequential love at best. In our real life, if someone ever comes back to us and says, I never knew you were such a nice person then. I wish I had picked you,... That'd be Tifa-like. Aerith never once took advantage of Cloud's insecurity and dorkiness to make him like her. She just likes him the way he is and she has no issue showing it. Cloud HAD to fall in love with Aerith because she is the girl who sees him for him while actually wanting to keep him. Whereas, Tifa only started to see him as him only after she knew what it feels to be him. No hate to Tifa, honestly. Her mother passed away, she was lost and wanted companions. She was occupied in her own problem and could not have possibly been able to see through Cloud's. But really, that's her burden and not Cloud's. It's just sad that the unknowing Cloud who bore that burden until he grew up thinking that "he" was the problem. So poor Cloud, and poor Tifa. But such is fate, and they just don't have the right strings on each other. That's my thought on the two.

In fact, one can discern how Tifa is nice to Cloud, according to her way of being, but being charismatic, she also has others and attracts the attention, of others. She also wants the company of others, but they do not want Cloud's company. She has friends and likes to be with them as well. While Cloud has Aerith and Aerith has Cloud. There are no others. They are just one fit between them, whereas with Tifa, it's a fit -- forced. Because it "has to be that way" to have a supposed happy ending, but it's not according to the natural flow of things. It's a cliché.

Not to mention, for example, when Cloud talks to Tifa, after he sees her in the wagon on the way to Don Corneo, however, Tifa reassures him by saying, "I'm all right. You've seen what I can do.", ergo: I don't need you around all the time. Yes okay, there is the promise thing, but it is not essential. While it is Aerith who wants to have Cloud with her, it is seen precisely after he has slept at her house. She wants a relationship with him and tries to keep him close and spend as much time as possible, with him. Which is strange, for someone who knows that she "will have to die" and would have done better instead, to push him away and maybe push him in all ways, into Tifa's arms, so as to reduce the pain of her loss. Because surely Aerith also saw what happened in the Advent Children and how Cloud was devastated with grief and wanted to succumb to the Geostigma, because he was totally depressed and had lost all reason for him to live.

22:20 - I'd just like to point out, that when Aerith asks Cloud about Tifa he straight up rejects the notion there is anything to their relationship other than them being friends, but here when Tifa asks Cloud if there is anything more to it, he just makes an awkward noise, as if he is unsure himself or that he believes there is something more to it, but he's uncomfortable discussing it. In all honesty the dream sequence with Aerith puts all the cards on the table, Cloud is willing to do whatever it takes to help her, and like he said "I saved her, she saved me, round and round it goes." There are layers to this, they aren't just saving each other literally from outside threats, they're saving each other by filling in the gaps the other has. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this opinion of mine!

I think Tifa was acting a little pushy there, even if that's not what she intended. I still care about their relationship together, but if I didn't, and if I didn't even like Tifa - I'd say she overstepped her bounds and that Cloud should've told her to mind her fucking business. She's friends (or friendly) with almost everyone in sector 7 and Cloud never put her on the spot about it, Cloud makes one friend who treats him right and she acts like he needs to run it by her.

FYI: the moment Tifa asked Cloud about Aerith(if u choose Tifa in sewer) in Japanese Cloud said... “I saved her, she saved me, and I saved her again. That’s about how it is” and Tifa commented “You got saved? That sounds unrealistic” then Cloud couldn’t say anymore word. If talking about acceptance, while Cloud always take whatever others feel or decide, Aerith is the one who give opportunity for him to be true to himself. It showed in every conversations including resolution scenes.

I think your opinion is spot on. In the sewers Tifa can sense Cloud and Aerith's connection. When she asks him if there is anything more to their relationship it implies that she already KNOWS there is. She SEES it, and it makes her ask the question. The fact that Cloud gets all tongue tied speaks volumes. He's actually relieved when Aerith stirs and he has an excuse not to answer, partly because he's still grappling with how fast he's come to care for Aerith, and part because in a way he really knows how Tifa feels about him and he doesn't want to hurt her. He cares for Tifa, he will always be there for her, but it's really obvious where his heart truly lies. It really reminds me of the relationship between Ranma and Ukyo in Ranma 1/2. There is a deep friendship there and she is not shy about her feelings for him, but like Cloud, Ranma's heart lies with someone else. Thing is Cloud wouldn't have even gone after Tifa if Aerith hadn't insisted. At the Honeybee Inn he wouldn't dance until he saw Aerith's face. He just can't let her down. It's downright adorable! Aerith is the one who breaks through his tough facade, and she knows just how to handle him in a way that brings him out of his shell. ^_^

@@user-ew6yu5yh6z Interesting translation difference between English and the original Japanese. Assuming your translation is accurate (I've seen other translations, and can't tell which is better), Perhaps it speaks to Tifa's lack of imagination towards Cloud and what he needs to be 'saved' from. She might be thinking that Aerith saved Cloud from a 'physical danger' (ie an enemy/villain), when Cloud is being more vague about what Aerith meant for him (ie Cloud thinks she 'saved' him by giving him more space to explore his many selves). Or it could be that Tifa puts Cloud on such a pedestal (this I find likely) that she couldn't really see Cloud being in any real danger (physical or emotional/mental) that requires someone else's intervention (ie. "you're a SOLDIER, you don't need anyone and could do anything by yourself. Surely you didn't need her [Aerith's] help, right?"

According to Aerith's profile, because of her centra heritage, she can read hearts and she knows Cloud has feelings for her since the start. Aerith also likes Cloud but she knows she has a task to do with the planet. She loves Cloud and she doesn't want her task on the planet to burden him. She told Cloud not to fall in love with him because she doesn't want Cloud to be involved in the burden she already carries. But Cloud realizes this after his mind is back but it's too late because Aerith already died. According to Cloud, if he realizes this sooner Aerith would have been saved by him.

As much as I like Tifa, I gotta be honest, I don’t really see her falling in love with Cloud at all. And what some CloTi fans fail to understand is of course the Zack Memories thing (ngl this has confused the hell out of me like a lot. XD), and the Claudia flashback, where she says a Older, and more mature girl. -Cloud - 21 -Tifa - 20 -Aerith - 22 (Also I was actually shocked when I found out Aerith is older then Cloud. I always thought she was younger. XD) Imo, they should just stay as friends. Yes Tifa is very important to Cloud, and a really good Friend to him, but they don’t fit as a couple to me. Although there is a bit of me that does ship CloTi, but not that much. They honestly feel more like Brother and Sister. Clerith is just adorable to me. I ship this so much. And the Remake made me love Aerith even more then I did before. And the Remake literally has a huge ton of hints that it’s canon. Which I do hope it is (even tho it’s pretty much confirmed that it is.). Since Cloud and Aerith deserve a life together in my opinion. And I pray that she does live in the next part of the remake. If she does, I’ll lose my shit. Cuz she is so adorable and she deserves to live a happy life after what she’s been through. (Same with Cloud and Tifa since they both also went through tough shit.) So yeah I really hope that Aerith lives, and she and Cloud possibly get married, and maybe have Cetra children. Like that would honestly be one of the best things I’d probably ever see in my life. XD

Also notice how it's only Aerith's visions that are emotionally painful for him. Even the sight of Tifa being killed by Seph in the VR Sim didn't faze him, but seeing the image at the Forbidden Forest draws tears from him. The only time a vision/memory with Tifa was painful for him was associated with Sephiroth being there and the memory of Nibelheim at Chapter 17.

Aerith held Cloud hand to calm him down was soooo cute, I keep smiling every time I see it. SE just made sure no one could miss this, the camera spin every angle possible just to show it 😂😂😂 Cloud immediately overcame his confusion just by her touch and seeing her face. You see, the camera created that impression that only Aerith was in Cloud’s view, just like she was his anchor, brought him back to reality, calmed the storm in his mind ❤️ Cloud felt lost the moment Aerith let go of his hand, you heard his “eh!” and his body quickly turned to follow her. Even though we couldn’t see his expression but I bet he looked like a lost puppy when she did that. Oh come on Cloud, how long did you intend to stay like that? 🤣🤣🤣 Aerith didn’t have to ask but Cloud told her about his problem right away “You don’t know Sephiroth, do you....” thing he hides from everybody but her 🥰🥰🥰 I watch the alternative scene if Tifa showed up first at the final battle with Sephiroth, Cloud asked “Ready to go?”, it was a casual way to ready your friend. With Aerith, he said “He’s tough”, another way of saying be careful or a warning, and for Aerith to replied “so what? Screw him” in a cheery voice is so sweet, again, she reassured and being supportive to Cloud in her own unique way 🌟🌟🌟

I honestly dont mind... what i am scared of is the fact that the game developers just go with Cloti because the fans wanted it. But deep down the fact that they made Clerith somewhat adorable and sweet to each other give me the hope that they do want to give justice to Clerith fans. I hope whatever they have in mind to not change just because of the popularity polls

  • @PollenAinne

They wont. clerith is popular in JP after all. This is the reason why in their marketing you only really see clerith. Clerith is the representative of FF7 at all times. And when Cloud is introduced to other games his story is always about either finding Aerith, or revenge for Aerith, or finding the promised land... or something similar. Also, the devs have gotten old and this is their last dance, I feel like they are looking for closure. At worse, this will end as another LT where clerith is the story canon, but we have the player's choice. At best, they will end the LT and give Cloud and Aerith the happiness they deserve.

I’m 100% sure they won’t. Heck they already didn’t. The remake is 100% Clerith and SE already knows how popular Tifa is as a character. They just gave a few “Cloti moments” to keep the fan base occupied but apart from that the entire story is Clerith based. I think even more than the original and with a more natural flow. I’m 95% sure that by the end of the remake the LTD will still remain up to interpretation(with Clerith being an obvious canon and Cloti being an optional alternative) or they will end it in Clerith’s favor.

Developers caving into fans is a much bigger danger when a project is being written on the fly. A good example of this was Final Fantasy XV: the cancelled second wave of DLC (which got turned into the Dawn of the Future novel) that would have been focused on fighting Bahamut was pretty much made because of fan demand. FFXV was pretty much "writing on the edge of your seat" insanity from beginning to end, and you can practically see throughout the game entire dropped plot arcs and shifts in tone when things just "need" to happen (like why were Noct and the bros collecting swords at the beginning lol?). Other big examples come from TV shows that run for a long time and eventually the writers lose track of what they're going for or the network keeps renewing a show long after its ended, stuff like this can easily turn into fan-pandering exercises when they're out of ideas (like Supernatural, haha). Or the recent Disney Star Wars trilogy, it becomes pretty clear there was no plan for how the story was supposed to end, hence why The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker clash so hard with each other in tone, plot, and characterization. I have little fear this will happen with FFVII R since this project has been in focused development for so long (not stop-and-start haphazard trainwreck like FFXV) and Nojima/Nomura/Kitase are pretty sure where they want this story to go. Heck, Nomura's been sitting on this plot since 2005/2006/2007!

In the remake there is a lot of extra Cloud and Tifa moments that wasn't in the OG, I think it was a fanservice thing too. I've always felt like Aerith was able to crack Cloud open like an egg and she did that kindly and subconsciously (which the remake and your video prove once again to be true), while Tifa seemed like an angry mom, way too harsh and forceful with him, that's probably why her methods weren't working and she got the opposite result (especially if we think about AC), in Tifa's defense though I gotta say they made her a lot better in the remake even if she still has most of the same core problems she had in the OG.

    @ALostExplorer4 жыл бұрын

I've been watching your Clerith videos ad nauseam for the past couple of days, so allow me to dump a wall of text on the subject. I thought the relationship building between Cloud and Aerith, between their introduction at the church and their defeating the Hell House in Chapter 9, is the best stretch of relationship writing in the game. You just see them grow from indifference to acceptance and then to fondness and (perhaps - ok, definitely) love. By the time Cloud and Aerith hi-five in the Coliseum, you can tell that their relationship is at a different place from where it started. I was so deeply moved watching the two of them. Tifa gets no such luck, for faults that are both her own and those beyond her control. Her interactions with Cloud alone are way more diffuse. Home Sweet Slum is the main relationship-building period, but it ends when Tifa has to go off and celebrate with her Avalanche colleagues. The only other point they get alone time off the top of my head, pre-Chapter 15, is right after Cloud helped Jessie and her secret mission; rescuing Barret in the train system; when they have to go up to stop the plate from dropping on Sector 7; and briefly when Tifa pulled up Cloud atop Shinra HQ. Otherwise, she has to share time with third wheels. BUT even if the story structured Tifa's interactions with Cloud in the same way that they did with Aerith's, she still has to take some of the blame for her relationship with Cloud not going as smoothly. The reason why her time with Cloud was cut short in Sector 7 was because she caved in when Barret told Cloud to leave him and his colleagues be as they celebrate. You could see Tifa's face wince when she heard that, because she was ready to whip up another drink as a means to get him to stay a little longer. But she doesn't fight the decision and just went with the flow of her Avalanche colleagues. She didn't even ask Cloud to come see her once her business is concluded, to show that she really does care for him - only Jessie did that! That's how you split the difference in this scenario. Not helping matters is just how tightlipped she is with how she presents herself, of how she talks about herself and what she feels, and how she gives Cloud so little time to listen to her even when he is willing/eager to. I'm not asking her to confess her romantic feelings; that's hard to do even in the best of circumstances. But she could tell Cloud about that vision she had of Marlene in the train graveyard, about how she worries for Marlene's mental wellbeing given the time she spent away from Barret. But she says it's nothing. She makes an off-handed comment in Chapter 14 about how much she wanted to thank Jessie and Biggs for their work for Avalanche. Cloud tries to say something to comfort her, but she shuts him down just as fast (I'll expand on this point later). The only thing Tifa is really open about are her reservations about Avalanche's methods to effect major change, and her reluctance/squeamishness in going through these plans herself. And if you get her resolution scene like I did, she opens up about how she is deeply shaken by losing her friends and the life she led. The only time she (kind of) was able to get Cloud to open up was when she asked him about his life after leaving the village, but even then he hesitates to divulge some details on the subject. Otherwise, Tifa is vague/evasive about herself and her feelings, especially when it comes to her story of moving into Sector 7 and making a living for herself there. And therefore, more often than not, Cloud can emulate that closed-off behaviour right back at Tifa. Not ratting out Jessie and her raid on a Shinra storehouse is understandable. But otherwise, he has a memory of Sephiroth in front of Tifa after the plate fall; he does not go on about it (contrast this with how he opens up a little bit more on the matter to Aerith in Sector 5). He has a painful memory of seeing Cowgirl Tifa losing it over Shinra. It might not be his memory, but he does remember it as a major failure on his part. He says it's nothing, and Tifa does not push him on it, despite his calling out HER name. If you're Tifa, aren't you even a LITTLE curious? (And if the game wants to keep these details a secret until a later release, which is fine, have Tifa insist that Cloud tell her what was on his mind before Heidigger comes into to interrupt them. There, a little show of concern/ship tease while conserving some key plot points!) This is why, when I put Cloud's and Tifa's moments together, I just don't get the sense that their relationship at the end of the Remake is all THAT different from when they first reunited in Sector 7 - EVEN IF you get her resolution scene. Collectively, they don't tell as coherent a story. Even after Tifa cried into Cloud's chest, I'm still VERY worried that they will run into the same communication problems that plagued them earlier in the game. So far, even as friends (and maybe something more), they can't seem to learn from their struggles to talk to one another more honestly. (By contrast, notice how the dialogue between Cloud and Aerith grows much more vulnerable and sincere over the course of their time together). And because they don't seem to learn, Cloud and Tifa will sadly repeat many of those "oh, it's nothing" moments that could have deepened their relationship had they spoke their minds more. And every time I hear something to the effect of "oh it's nothing" from Tifa to Cloud and vice versa, I respond with a "I thought you two were going to be closer than that..." And it's harder for me to find a point where I think "Oh, now THERE'S the moment where their relationship is in a better, different place". Though if I had to pick, it'd be Tifa's resolution scene. In the relationship writing between Cloud and Aerith, by contrast, I can easily think of 2 or 3 such turning points. The talk near the Sector 7 Gate, 'talking' to the flowers, the first hi-five, Aerith was waiting for Cloud so she can take him through the Collapsed Expressway, Cloud's resolution scene (when I get to it). And like I've said, the way the story strings these moments one after another gives the feeling of genuine, forward progress between Cloud and Aerith. (Another PS: The times that Cloud rescues Tifa from certain danger and vice versa in FF7R is dripping with ship tease, obviously, so I gobble them up like the person next to me. But do you ever wonder what happens to them when those moments don't come around as often? When they are forced to bond with one another by just sitting around and talking to each other about themselves, their feelings or each other? If Case of Tifa and Advent Children are any indication, it seems that those banal, everyday conversations can be struggles at best...and nightmares at worst. It's like Cloud and Tifa NEED to constantly save one another in combat/life-or-death situations to show just how much they care for each other. And if that sounds like an unhealthy way to keep a romance/relationship going, that's because it is. Consider this your deconstruction of the Rescue Romance trope.) Think of all the little (yet important) bits of their lives that Cloud and Aerith spilled to each other during their time together. "Is Tifa your girlfriend?" "the first guy I ever loved", picking flowers for the orphanage (and talking to them later), "Ever heard of Sephiroth?" "I had no war buddies" "Life was about training and battlefields" etc etc. Even just seeing Aerith interact with Turks, and her just knowing who they are, is such a major window into her life. And her less-than-impressed reaction to that life experience is similarly eye-opening. Tifa obviously shows Cloud a part of her everyday life in Sector 7 in Home Sweet Slums, but you never get the sense that it was an important part of what made her the person she was today. By contrast, you can somewhat understand how a life of loneliness and constant surveillance from the Turks shaped Aerith's outlook: Troubled, a little shaken and fatigued, but also resourceful, impish, compassionate and free-spirited in certain spots. Therefore, by the time Cloud is ready to get back to Sector 7, one wonders if he actually knows more about Aerith than he does Tifa - despite being around the former for only a day or so and the latter for years. (I joked to an internet friend that Tifa is the REAL mystery girl in FF7R, and I stand by that joke. Even after 30+ hours with her, I still have a very tentative grasp on her life, her upbringing, her underlying motivations, and so on. I don't know when/how/why she learned martial arts. I don't know how she became the primary mother figure to Marlene. Her relationship with Barret is obviously in a good place, but their past is only implied. What of her relationship with Wedge? Or Biggs? Or Jessie? When/where/how did she get those bartending skills? How did she make her way to Sector 7? Her reason to dislike Shinra is unclear, as someone who has no prior experience with FF7. Crisis Core something something?) The little details of life that Cloud and Aerith freely offered to one another are like trinkets, like tribute. They are indicators to the recipient that the giver believes in them, values them. Cloud and Aerith obviously don't give away EVERYTHING about their lives, but ceding those lesser details about themselves was one major way they built genuine trust and comfort between each other. They partially explains why Cloud emotionally opens up to Aerith at a level that Tifa can only fantasise. And they serve as the foundations, the staging ground, for further explorations of their true selves, for who they really are. For becoming soulmates in every sense of the word. I am already entranced with the Clerith sprouts, and I am soooo excited to see how they blossom in the future. YEH YEAH LONG TEXT WALL IM OBSESSED, OK?! LISTEN NO ONE IS HAPPY ABOUT IT

I clicked like and heart after reading the first paragraph... not counting the introductory line, lol. But I did read it all and I can say I love reading walls of text. But having played the OG and the rest of the compilation, I guess, it is hard for me to see Tifa as a mystery. I just know too much about her, more than I want to. lol. But I do agree, Cloud and Aerith have learned more about each other than Cloud and Tifa had in 2 weeks... and yes they only had about that long... cuz... they never really communicated before then except for that one time at the water tower. Not that they never had the opportunity, but Tifa just never noticed Cloud when they were kids.

I like reading long walls of text especially if they were given thought and voice out your actual opinions [every opinion is respectable] on the subject. Yours was a good read so I don't mind it at all. Liked it actually. Tifa being tight-lipped is really what keeps her relationship with Cloud literally at an arm's length. The way she just dismisses every opportunity for conversation after Cloud or her shakes it off and says they're OK, it just goes to show that they still really don't feel comfortable talking to each other. Like, even the Nibelheim Accident. When Tifa asked Cloud in their room about it, you would think both would be easily sparking a conversation, as they were both victims and lost their loved ones, but Cloud didn't want to talk about it, being a touchy subject [even though it should've been touchy to Tifa as well as they both lost their parents]. Even when Cloud said "has been five years", she already knew something was off, yet she just kept quiet...but hey, at least we got the plot rolling. Still, we gotta love how Aerith and Cloud's relationship has changed in the span of one day. I only wonder what would've happened if the Sector 7 plate wasn't dropped...I think Cloud, after returning to the Sector 7 slums, would probably continue hanging around in Sector 5 as the "i'm not cut out for this crap" local florist / bodyguard as he lives his mercenary life, wanting to spend a little more time with Aerith. I just wished we got to see them spend more time together...but we can only wait for the future games I guess. [P.S. On a side note, so far, Aerith has been precisely accurate in her intuition. I'm kinda inclined to believe that she doesn't have the full memory of the future, but only fragments of it. Like, with her intuition , she knew Cloud doesn't know how to get back to sector 7, that he was being sent away by Elmyra, hence why she set up those obstacles for Cloud to bump into, how she told Cloud in the Honeybee inn that he is a man of many talents, but talking wasn't one of them, etc. So, the part where she told him "You can't fall in love with me" [Was it "We can't fall in love" in Japanese? I'm not sure], does this mean they already did before? > Also I wish Cloud got to introduce Aerith to his Mom. Would've really loved that. Sorry for the long reply. I just like stuffs like this. Thanks!

Since KZread is making it hard to keep editing my text wall, I guess I have no choice but to continue on my observations in future comments like here. I don't mean to suggest that there are no successfully intimate moments between Cloud and Tifa outside of combat situations, because they obviously do (Tifa’s Resolution scene, her asking Cloud what she should wear in an upcoming jaunt around town, her admitting her reservations about Avalanche’s methods while Cloud tells her that she doesn’t have to follow them, their talk after Cloud returned from a mission with Jessie, Cloud giving away the flower from Aerith. They are all good). But it just feels like every time they make a genuine connection, they undo some of that good work by keeping to themselves in other key moments (most infamous: Tifa quietly agreeing with Barret to kick Cloud out of the bar for a private celebration… AFTER they had a moment where Cloud compliments Tifa/her drink AND AFTER Tifa opens up to Cloud over her fears of Avalanche’s methods that Cloud acknowledges. Or Cloud steering the conversation over to the money he’s owed after giving Tifa the flower back at the bar. I mean, way to ruin the mood there.) (Even Tifa's resolution scene gets partially undermined in the sewer section in Chapter 14, when she cuts off Cloud after she takes a little time to mourn for Jessie and Biggs. I know everyone was in the middle of a mission with Leslie, so can't get too emotional. But she could have said something that acknowledged that Cloud was trying to help her and not sound as brusque. When I first heard her response to his saying "Tifa...", I thought she was doing the verbal equivalent of slapping away Cloud's hand as it was reaching out to comfort her, even though I now believe that she didn't mean to give that impression [she was trying to keep her head in the mission, but Cloud might not know that!] If Tifa asked me how she should have approached that scenario, I would have advised her to say something like "Let's talk about those two after we bag Corneo, alright?" I do wish Aerith will live in this Remake. Although we all know the relationship between Cloud and Aerith is a spiritual connection that transcends physical attraction, it still would be nice to see them get the happy ending that they deserves. For too long the Cloti fans has judged that their ship is the true pairing because Aerith's death removed her from the competition. Now I see that this Remake has made them worried because they see that an alive Aerith is a threat to their couple. I think it's time for Square Enix to shake things up in the fandom!

I didn't believe it at first but playing the game multiple times and reviewing the scenes so many more times makes me believe that Aerith surviving is one of the largest points of this remake. I think the devs want closure and even maybe an end to this debate. I really hope so.

@Pollen Ainne I’m concerned that they will give in to fan outrage over changing what happens. Also, there’s a YTer who thinks they are giving players hope precisely to rip it away when Aerith dies again. His reasoning is that everyone already knows what happens in the OG, so her death would be less impactful when we expect it. So the only way to counteract that is to make ppl think she can survive this time.

  • @PollenAinne

@@IsThisThePrizeIveWaitedFor Yeah, I also considered that. But was it worth it to change the entire FF7 theme just to subvert expectations? And then what will they do now? Since the FF7 theme has changed, her death is no longer even in line to the message they are giving. To be honest, at this point Aerith's death would not have much impact except for looking like a dumb failure in Cloud's part. After all the hints he is getting and the chances... he still fails. Unless they want to change their theme into that... then sure. But really, they backed themselves into a corner by the changes that they have made. The only other thing they can do is Cloud saves her in the Forbidden City but she still dies afterwards in a different way. It's still a failure but at least it's more unexpected. And maybe Cloud will die in the end too and join Aerith. I really do believe they will give these two people closure, whether in death or in life.

Now that I remember, in the OG there's a scene where Aerith confesses to Cloud that she's alone since is the last cetra alive (this happens in Cosmo canyon), Aerith shows her sadness and is something that you don't see very often. Then Cloud tried to tell her that she's not alone because he's with her (at the beginning he says "But I'm.." but he changed to "We're here with you, right?", Cloud is not that good expressing his feelings, that's why I think he changed his words) I remember this because you mentioned that Aerith is trying to hide her loneliness from everyone but that change when she met Cloud and I now realize how deep is that scene from the og thanks to your videos.

Yes I totally remember that scene. And I hope Cloud becomes more forward with his feelings as well as push Aerith to share more of her thoughts. Because the downfall of this couple is Cloud really being too preoccupied with Sephiroth and the Reunion that he wasn't able to see through Aerith's smiles. Which is in my video I stated that Cloud seems to be observing her more and to understand her more than he ever did in the OG. He even admitted to being worried about her without a second thought. This Cloud seem to be stronger. Maybe it might be because of Sephiroth's taunts in his mind. Or the visions he is getting of the future which he still does not understand fully. But definitely this Cloud is way more assertive than the OG Cloud. Which gives me hope that he understands Aerith's mission and will manage to save her.

@@PollenAinne First of all possible (Spoiler Alert for Part 2) I believe Aerith's Spirit from OG (Future Aerith) has found a way to project herself into her body in the past (Aerith Remake) points in the game: Aerith seems to know things about the group and future events. She is more forward with Cloud as if she really wants live in the moment just as she tells him. She seems to have more ability with the lifestream than she did in OG. Scene where she does something to Red XIII's mind and if you noticed how she comforted Marlene and then told her to keep it secret. Did she share a vision of the future to Marlene to show her that her dad would be alright. Then there is the Whispers. From the very beginning of the game the whispers seem to be following her. Remember the Whispers only show up when events in the timeline are being threatened. they help when someone's fate is about to be changed and shouldn't be, (Barrett for example) and they block you or hinder you from changing the timeline or even ensure that you meet your fate (Wedge). They also are keeping tabs on Aerith as if to make sure she doesn't disrupt the timeline, even blocking her at times. This suggests that the Whispers know she is from the future. Also Sephiroth's appearance so early in the game suggests he may also be Sephiroth's spirit from the future trying to change events so that this time he wins. Aerith almost seems to know this. This would even explain why Clouds visions and black outs are more of flashes from the future instead of memories of the past. Finally, and hope this helps. but if you read the novel "The Maiden Who Travels the Planet"; Aerith Discovers soon after she is killed that unlike others who die and their consciousness joins the lifestream, hers is in the lifestream but she has retained her individual consciousness. She is even able to maintain her individual form in the lifestream even though her body has been killed. After Aerith summons Holy and the lifestream destroys Meteor, her consciousness still doesn't pass on and return to the planet. She also discovers that in the lifestream itself time is linked to the lifestream and past and present and even future are like memories flowing in the lifestream. She also learns that Sephiroth's consciousness is still present in the lifestream as has not merged with the planet. could this be what prompts her to go back and relive the events in the hope to change the future? In conclusion, the book also reveals her love for Cloud; "Aerith was in even greater pain when she thought about Cloud. She also had good feelings towards him. At first, she thought he somehow had some similarities to her first love. Even so, his looks, voice and personality weren't similar and he also made her think of him as a mysterious person... But it soon didn't matter. She loved him much more than her first love. Cloud was her hero and he couldn’t get away from danger. She saw him as someone full of confidence, cool and had the impression that he would disappear in an instant if she took her eyes off him. She wanted to stay by his side forever if she could. She really wanted to. " (The Maiden who travels The Planet) This would explain the deep connection she has with him in the Remake. Why she wants to be near him all the time, why she tells him in the dream sequence he has made her happier than he could ever know because even in the lifestream her consciousness longed to be with him and this love kept her consciousness from joining the planet. It also explains why she tells him he can't fall in love with her; (Excerpt from the book) "She accepted the death that she had felt long ago as the sword pierced through her. She looked at peace. But a cry came through to her. It wasn't the sound of her cry. If it was then she would have felt the blood gushing up through her throat and the fury that forced its way out from the depths of her soul - It was the sound of Cloud's heart cracking. It was the cry of his heart that could never be healed of the grief he had towards Aerith's death, the blame towards himself and the hatred he had for Sephiroth. She was surprised at the great sorrow he had for her. She was a little happy that he thought so much of her but she also felt the pain that was many times greater. There was nothing she could do about Cloud's suffering and the pain ached in her heart. The pain continued even though she was in the Lifestream" Even though she has come back through time to be with him, she still is not sure of her own fate and doesn't want him to suffer her loss again. However when Cloud says that it's for him to decide whether to love her, and that he is coming for her; she is happy because ultimately she longs to be with him. I think it is elements from this book that the writers have drawn off of to do this remake. and I can't wait for part 2. Clerith is a Love that Transcends Space and Time... Wow!

When he asks "What's so special about it?" the look she gives him, like she wants to say "Because I spent it with you" but she laughs it off to hide her sadness. But what really drives home the scene is when Cloud says "Learn to talk to her", it's such a huge contrast to his conversation with Barret at the beginning about hearing the planet and really shows how much he already cares about her. Like with Barret he still may not believe it but it feels like he wants to, for her. Looking forward to part IV if you decide to continue it!

I thought the same as you when I first played the game. To me, since Tifa is the first girl you are introduced to (named. yes I am aware he technically encounters Aerith first) It seemed somewhat obvious that the couple would be Cloud and Tifa. The whole notion of childhood sweethearts, destined to be together nonsense. I bought this concept for a long time when I first played the game. Even shipping CxT for a very long time. I'm the kind of person who trys to see different prespectives, so one playthrough I decided to date Aerith and take her favored options and the game felt completely different. Cloud and Aerith's interactions are so much more genuine than Cloud and Tifa's. Cloud seemed so much more open with himself than with Tifa, who I see as him being very closed off from. Even in the remake he can barely look her in the eye. Maybe that's why I prefer Cloud with Aerith. Their compatibility is just off the charts. Everything with Tifa to me just seems so awkward. And when you do start playing the game, you inevitably carry those same biases with you. I hate that i think this is exactly why some of these shippers/fans spread these one-sided narratives so aggressively .. i.e. to get people invested in a particular ship long before they’ve had the chance to find out for themselves/play the game/appreciate the story. It’s fine.. but it annoys me bcos these things ruin the whole story, the depth of each character and the intricacies of their relationships. They just want their ships popular enough yo hopefully pressure devs to cater to them.. but at the expense of the story

When I was 14 I really liked Tifa, and clearly I wasn't the only one who liked her. I even found forums dedicated to her as if she were a perfect woman. Tifa's character has no value in itself but is defined from Cloud's (I dare say that her original concept is still "the friend of childhood of the protagonist "). She is a submissive and obedient character who chases the protagonist everywhere. The role of the protagonist is to make the player project in Cloud's character. That way you (player) know that no matter what you do, you will always have a girl with little clothing and a model body who chases you everywhere and says yes to everything. A very effective formula with teens but it is painfully obvious. I mean, in the OG what is Tifa's character arc? What is the difference between her character at the beginning and end of the story? And I mean her as an individual. Because Cloud, Barret, Cid, Aerith, Nanaki and even Reeve have an evolution in their characters (I'm not going to talk about Yuffie and Vincent). You see them at the beginning, you see them at the end and you can tell they went through an experience that changed their lives and made them grow. Tifa goes through mystical and traumatic experiences but SHE DOESN'T CHANGE IN THE WHOLE GAME. And don't tell me "at first she is somewhat shy with Cloud and in the end she takes the initiative to sleep with him" because that is not character development. I'm praying that in the next parts of Remake they will give her more value as an individual because a character from such an iconic game deserves so much more than just being a fetish bag to attract insecure teens

Actually Tifa shows a lot of promise in the remake. I especially love her scene with Cloud when she tells him "You have to do better if you are going to play the hero." The fact that Tifa had always wanted Cloud to be her hero, but she rescues him and gives him advice about him being a hero for someone else actually touched my heart. It's the only time Tifa elicited any emotion from me. Maybe she will be able to free herself from being subservient to Cloud because as a separate person, she actually is waaaaay better.

I do agree partially with what you said, mainly about the "Tifa barely having any value and goal as a character if you take Cloud away". But I do think she has a character arc and evolution, though that's mainly because I seem to have interpreted her character much differently in the OG than most people seem to do. For example, I see many people take the promise between Cloud and Tifa as "romantic" or something in general positive. When I saw that scene for the first time in the OG, I had more of a "wtf, Tifa?!" reaction. Tifa never showed much interest in Cloud before he announced that he was going to become a SOLDIER like Sephiroth. Only when he tells her about his ambitions of becoming famous and a hero does she start to show interest. I always thought that was utterly... I don't know, naive, pretentious and unhealthy? Tifa clearly wanted a hero when she made Cloud promise. Then in the OG, pretty much the first thing Tifa does when you meet her is rub the promise in your face. She's actually much nicer in the remake and Cloud remembers the promise himself. So I always felt like Tifa's character arc was going from the naive girl who only showed interest in Cloud for the prospect of him becoming/being a hero to her actually genuinely caring for Cloud and staying with him even after she finds out he's no hero/SOLDIER at all. Always thought her story was rather tragic as well since I saw her as realising/developing true feelings for Cloud too late when he already liked Aerith. Then she stays with him through all the bad stuff that happens to him, genuinely caring, but his heart is not with her anymore but with Aerith. She's the one alive, yet the one he doesn't want. Case of Tifa, despite so many people also taking that as proof of Cloud/Tifa, is honestly just shattering when you look at how broken Tifa herself is after the OG. But yeah, it honestly doesn't look like that's going to be her character arc in the remake, so I really hope they came up with something good for her for part 2!

@@fiprosha Well that's my point. Tifa's character does not pass the Bechdel test (that is, "the presence of the female character is only due to her link with a male character"). She doesn't have an individual character arc because she revolves around Cloud. She defines herself through him. Even in AC. Two years pass and it is magnificent to see her running a bar practically alone, taking care of 2 children, even fighting to defend them. I thought "now that Cloud is NOT we'll finally going to see the strong woman that she is supposed to be", but no... two years passed practically every day she leaves messages for Cloud EVEN THOUGH HE NEVER ANSWER HER CALLS. Two years passed and she is still waiting for him like Hachiko. It breaks my heart what they do with Tifa. She is supposed to "have been a weak girl in the past and the tragedy of Nibelheim motivated her to become stronger". Strong enough to protect herself and those who care about her, so strong that she is the only character who fights only using her hands. It is an excellent and motivating premise ... destroyed by her role in the plot. Even Jessie has more individuality than she does.

Your Faithless Friend I love her but Tifa doesn’t have an arc on her own. Her entire arc revolves around Cloud. When they were children she always ignored Cloud because he wasn’t cool enough to join her group, until he told her he’s going to join SOLDIER and Tifa was attracted by Cloud’s hero potential. Throughout the events of the game Tifa knew something is wrong with Cloud but didn’t say anything due to her introverted nature. Finally her arc was completed after the lifestream event. Helping Cloud repair his mind and recover his memories is her nemesis for all the years that she ignored him. That’s pretty much it and that’s the reason so many people believe in Cloti. Because Tifa’s entire story is Cloud but that cannot be said for Cloud himself. This relationship is one-side and that’s what most people miss. Unfortunately Tifa is the only character whose arc doesn’t have any real character development. Even after FFVII in other projects like Case of Tifa, ACC and Kingdom Hearts 2 Tifa is still portrayed like a character with no will on her own blatantly following Cloud and completely ruining her character. Especially KH2. They made her look like a fool in this game.

@@yourfaithlessfriend9399 I honestly don't like the Bechdel test much. I think it's perfectly fine to have a female's character arc be connected to a love interest if it fits the story. Happens in many love stories and it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. Cloud and Aerith are the main characters of the game and the story, and there is only as much development you can give to the other characters. That being said, my point was that Tifa indeed does have her own arc with character development, even if it's linked to Cloud. I think she does evolve and grow throughout the story and that's honestly more important to me than the reason why. Obviously, it would have been a better ending for her if she'd moved on after the OG, but FF7 kinda doesn't have a good ending. It's tragic. All the characters seem traumatised and guilt-driven in the novel that follows the events of the OG. But don't get me wrong, I do agree she doesn't have the best of arcs and I would like to see more of her (apart from her connection to Cloud) in the remake. I think they did a good job with that so far though, since in the remake, Avalanche and her relationship to them seems to play a bigger role. That being said, I guess AC really didn't do her character any good though. I honestly don't even remember what her role was in that movie apart from telling Cloud to move on, so yeah, I agree on that part. I think the problem here is that AC was all about Cloud finally moving on and finding his smile, when honestly, Tifa would have needed her own story like AC to show that she is able to do the same. I think her arc in FF7 OG was perfectly fine, it's AC that ruins it by not showing how she struggles, actively works to change her life and eventually move on.

To be honest, I think the people who ship Cloud with Tifa mostly ship them because of her looks. I know it sounds really shallow, but its the truth. For example, an old buddy of mine wouldn't even bother looking at Cloud and Aerith's relationship. He only liked Tifa because of her looks, so naturally he shipped Cloud and Tifa. Thing is, Tifa is the ultimate fan service character. She is the classic example of the American girl next door which is why a lot of teenage guys like her. They have always wanted to get with the girl next door. But not only that. A lot of girls find Tifa easily relatable. Shes shy and has trouble talking out her own feelings, which is common especially with young girls in the western world. Also I think, it seems that Crisis Core really did a number on the original game. It seems a lot of people want to ship Aerith with Zack. Which means that Cloud ends up with Tifa by default, which baffles me. Personally, I despise Crisis Core and what it has done to Cloud and Aerith. Those traits make her extremely relatable and that's the main reason she's such a huge fan-favorite. Perhaps they had some insecurities about the legitimate points you brought up to them in your discussion with them (as you would have since this is important!). Once someone starts to realize that they may not be entirely certain of what they think they know, they will have a tendency to lash out. Whatever they said to you isn't important, I have watched your videos and I truly believe you do not make any false or misleading claims. All of your evidence and work are well-researched and sensitive to the characters in discussion. Cloud definitely feels affection for Aerith. Just wanted to say that. Secondly, I love how you noticed that Aerith is persistent and constantly tries again and again to restart dialogue and interaction with Cloud. I identify with Cloud, and a lot of the time while I'm trying to talk with someone I like I think to myself "man, I'm a screw up," or something that makes me doubt myself, and I stop trying to talk with them any further. So for someone like Aerith, who doesn't mind that Cloud doesn't always have the right thing to say or know what to do, her repeated attempts to be friendly and talk with Cloud do not go unappreciated. In fact, they matter very much to Cloud (or at least to me when someone is like that with me :) ). Great video, great job!

Hey, just wanted to expound upon a point I made in a thread below that I don't think has been made clearly before: Aerith connected with Cloud so quickly and easily not just beacuse of their pseudo-spiritual link (in the lifestream and all the inworld magic) surrounding each's journey, but also because both have had their personalities shaped by very similar experiences. . Both suffered abandonment from their peers in childhood, as well as being raised in a single parent environment and developed their own defense mechanisms to cope in their personalities - defenses which they both intuiitvely see right through in each other: * Aerith is impulsive and acts flighty, hiding from commitment and motivation behind a smile and silliness, generally avoinding serious or heavy words (except with Cloud). Aerith got along well with people until they got a glimpse of her Cetra side, so she suppressed that side of her. She is actually quite fatalistic in outlook but runs from that and her heritage by acting exceptionally ordinary, minimising what anyone would consider special about her. * Cloud is aloof and puts up a front of superiority to justify his being separated from others, which in turn drives his motivation to live up to the standard he sets for himself (or the heroes he worshipped, e.g. Sephiroth) even though he battles with internally with overwhelming shame for all his failures. He doesn't try to make friendships so that he can't be hurt, but will cling to any relationship he has with the few people who earned his respect/trust. * Both are reckless beyond bravery and willingly throw themselves into danger to the point of sacrifice; this is part an internal lack of self worth, and part attempt to avoid abandonment by others by initiating it first. . We see how, when together, these two completely circumvent these emotional defenses, which I think is a big part of their character design (and thus why the remake explored Cloud and Aerith's loneliness from childhood to where they are now even more than the OG). For example: * Cloud can't bring himself to push Aerith's silly affectations away, and actually makes an effort to sincerely reciprocate it. Aerith doesn't mock him for his awkwardness in doing so. * Aerith in turn doesn't push for Cloud to do more, to be better (as opposed to what Tifa does e.g. "Be nicer Cloud!") because she reads how hard he's pushing himself all the time. * Cloud engages in her banter willingly and doesn't treat Aerith's abilities or heritage as any different or special. He picks good naturedly on her inconsequential quirks instead. * Aerith can tell he is genuinely caring but can't express it eloquently, focusing instead on his intentions instead of his delivery even in her teasing (e.g. their journey to the high-5). * Cloud is able to push Aerith to move forward and actually try and leave Midgar - and the shadow of Shinra and captivity. * Aerith is able to snap Cloud out of his brooding/silence and engage him in conversation. * Both are unwilling to let the other go off alone, recognizing each other's stubborness and lack of self preservation, but respect each other enough to not be hypocritical in acknowledgment of the same trait in themselves and work - fight - together. . All in all there's a lot going on beneath the surface of their interactions at a far more human level which makes for the foundation of Cloud and Aerith's chemistry, a factor which I think gets forgotten too often in discussing some of the headier themes and more dramatic events surrounding these two characters (and the others of FFVII) and their relationship(s) throughout the series. . P.S. * Cloud is irritated by (and jealous of) the attention Aerith gets from other men - especially the more lewd comments. 😘 [Edited: grammar]

Just wanted to say really great comment, there's something very appealing about their connection but I couldn't express it in words or thoughts until I saw you talk about these points. Especially on how they both have developed emotional safeguards which they short-circuit with each other. It makes me wonder though about Cloud, how much of his childhood does he remember at this point in the Remake? Or is that all a vague and smoky history to him that he tries not to dwell on?

  • @BenignViewer

    @BenignViewer

    4 жыл бұрын

@@kierenxiang7 It's an interesting question and not one that Remake has touched on (yet) and the original did so only in light detail. . My perspective on this is mainly influenced by the original: Cloud has an inner dialogue with his true self throughout the game which comes in the form of him as a child. I think this is because not only does it represent a more innocent Cloud before he went through all the suffering of his life, but also because it's the only facet of himself he actually recognizes. . So I think it's the case that Cloud actually remembers his childhood up to the point where Tifa's fall at Mt. Nibel, from then on he mixes his memory up more and more with the fantasy version of himself that he concocted based on his two idols - Zack and Sephiroth. Which is why the memory of each have such power over him (until he learns to accept himself). . He definitely doesn't like thinking about it though, probably beacuse the one thing he isn't courageous enough to do is face his shame in himself... until he meets Aerith.

These simple and sincere moments for me are much more sweeter and meaningful than the usual hugs and touches that people use as points to count as romantic toward the other girls. that you usually see Cloud feeling awkward . Aerith's intuition and how she approaches Cloud is preferably better, as she doesn't just leave things as they are. She makes an effort to address them. This is the main concern I have with Tifa, because in their interactions, she only seems to be scratching the surface of Cloud, and when Cloud shakes it off and acts tough and ok, she just leaves it be. She keeps these thoughts to herself which leads to miscommunications evident in Case Tifa. Meanwhile, Aerith actually goes deep inside to resolve, even a simple resolution to a failed high five implies this level of understanding from Aerith, and showing character development of Cloud [from being closed off, edgy and "not interested" to slowly opening up.] On a personal note, Tifa's trying too hard to be nice to everyone, almost to a fault, that she didn't see Cloud was feeling kinda awkward while getting talked down by Marle. Even if she tried to relieve Cloud later on inside the inn [ "Marle isn't always right you know~" ], it was kinda sad that she didn't refute Marle's insults to Cloud. "The customer is always right" is the business standard, but, oh well. Really loved your videos and looking forward to the next one~ [P.S. I love Aerith more than Cloud, so no killing's gonna happen to you for liking Cloud more. The feeling will always be mutually exclusive anyway. Haha.]

haha thank you. Most people who love Cloud also loves Aerith. And I agree with all your statements. Tifa lacks intuition that is needed to deal with someone like Cloud. She's not really a bad character, but like Cloud, she needs someone who sees through her and not the other way around. Both Cloud and Tifa cannot provide each other with what they need.

@@teshikaatniyu15love4 Same here. I relate to Cloud a lot (like him I didn’t really have friends growing up and I’m not exactly the best with social skills like determining if a person like me or not romantically, probably explains why I still don’t have a boyfriend). I’m really hopeful I can find a guy who knows what’s it like to have anxiety and yet is like Aerith so I can feel more comfortable in my skin. Because that’s the sense I get with Cloud and Aerith’s relationship. They both know what it’s like to be outsiders growing up (Cloud with his disappeared dad and Aerith being half-Cetra) and thus they can find similarities between one another yet at the same time there’s enough of a difference to balance them out. Cloud and Tifa’s relationship feels a bit toxic. They didn’t really interact in childhood and Tifa doesn’t seem to know what it’s like to grow up feeling like an outsider in your own community because she was the popular girl in the community. It’s probably why I like Clerith a lot: they have shared experiences.

Instead of just saying something like "Nah, I can go alone" and leaving (as he usually does with people he doesn't know well), or demanding payment in money, he asks "What if the Turks show up again?". That's coming from Cloud "Not Interested" Strife. He's only been with this girl for about an hour, but he's already worried about her safety after he leaves - even if he thinks he won't be seeing her again.

I was initially upset that they changed the story. But since they did, it would be bad storytelling to introduce the plot element of defeating fate... only to have the rest of the story stay exactly the same, as that would make this huge plot development pointless. So, at this point, something significant does need to change in the next parts to justify what they did. I hope whatever it is, that Cloud and Aerith get some semblance of a happy ending together.

@@IsThisThePrizeIveWaitedFor Well I will say this, they didn't give us an 'actual' remake so I think we shouldn't have to worry about them caving to fans. They already did the unimaginable with what we got. Who would've thought they would bring back the OG setting of FF7 AND introduce new elements and make it an actual sequel. I definitely never did. With that in mind, they have put Cloud and Aerith's relationship at the forefront as well. The new game's theme song is specifically about Cloud's feelings and thoughts about Aerith. Cloud mainly seems to only have visions of her and her death throughout the whole game. Top it off with the ending being about their Destiny now being a blank page and it seems obvious to me what they are doing. I know others say it's simply a means to crush players again. Realistically, why make a sequel and do all this work for that? They are gearing up to give this universe the 'good' ending it deserves and that the characters deserve. It was always unsatisfying how it ended with OG and AC. Cloud is absolutely miserable without Aerith, just waiting to die so he can be with her in 'The Promised Land' and we know that humanity is doomed despite everything they did. We need a continuation to fix one or (hopefully) both of these outcomes.

Looking back at the interactions in the love triangle, I now realise that their dynamics are different in terms of who is leading around whom. Between Cloud and Aerith, it's Aerith who takes charge to slowly change Cloud, to lead him out of his shell by gently teasing him and his tough guy persona. You would think that it'll be the same between Cloud and Tifa, with the motherly Tifa trying to get Cloud to be nicer. But I honestly got more of the sense that it's CLOUD who is the one who is trying to lead Tifa into overcoming her reservations towards her actions as a member of Avalanche. Remember, they had that brief bar conversation, then there's him trying to calm her nerves right before the second bombing mission, and then Cloud had to comfort Tifa in her resolution scene before breaking into Shinra HQ (on top of keeping her focused during that final mission to rescue Aerith). For the latter part of the triangle, it's an inversion of what we would consider normal team dynamics in cartoons/anime/video games, where the Team Mom member is supposed to be the one who keeps The Loner in line and stopping him/her from acting out or disrupting the party. In FF7R, it's the supposedly Loner character who has to comfort The Heart and prevent her from sliding into further depression after she lost her livelihood. It's an interesting twist. But there is one more important difference. When Aerith enters into Cloud's life and tries encouraging him to be his best self, you can see Cloud earnestly trying to rise up to her expectations. He doesn't make fun of her for 'talking' to the flowers, and actually tells her subtly that he thinks it's endearing. When she tries to hi-five him, he slowly gets around to do the same for her - even when she didn't expect it! He dances for her when she eggs him on in the Honeybee inn. And you just don't get that same feeling of change when Cloud tries to do the same for Tifa. She obviously feels better after these moments, but I never got the sense that she changed or tried to become HER best self. To be fair, I don't mind her still feeling torn about her actions with Avalanche; being reluctant about bombing a mako reactor that many people rely on for their everyday lives is totally understandable. I just kind of wished that she became a little more talkative and open about herself after she has her comfortable moments with Cloud (and I proposed some scenarios to show just that in other comments for Pollen's videos). Or have her reveal a different side of herself that the audience would not have expected from her - once given the space to do so around close companions. (PS: This was a comment I actually wrote before in response to someone else's comment about how Aerith is a better fit for Cloud than Tifa was. It got removed when that original comment got deleted for some unknown reason.)

Thank you so much for these videos! I’m so glad that there are people who view Cloud and Aerith’s relationship the same way I do. I feel like there are too many people who downplay their bond for the sake of raising up Zack and Tifa, which does a major disservice to not just Cloud and Aerith as characters but to the whole story of FF7 (No hate, I absolutely adore Zack and Tifa, but to me FF7 has always been and always will be Cloud and Aerith’s story). But, as a person who can relate a lot to Cloud and his insecurities, I’ve always felt that Aerith balanced out and completed Cloud in ways that he had never experienced before, but had always so desperately needed. Cloud is physically strong, but mentally quite sensitive. Aerith’s emotional and mental strength enables her to help him sort through his own mental health issues and allows him to open up and be vulnerable with her, and she always knows just what to say to comfort him. I mean, just look at that scene at 7:58, he instantly calms down as soon as she touches him. That’s exactly the kind of support he needs in his most emotionally vulnerable moments. On top of that, whilst Aerith is a great mage, physically she isn’t so strong. This is also great for Cloud, as deep down he needs to feel validated and like he is worth something, and being able to physically protect Aerith - and have her praise him for it - would be exactly the kind of self esteem boost that he needs. And that’s the thing about Tifa, she is physically strong, so she doesn’t really need Cloud as much in that department. And she is also quite mentally sensitive, which isn’t a good balance for Cloud when he’s already struggling to work through his own thoughts and feelings. This is why I think, no matter how much they care for each other, Cloud and Tifa tend to butt heads more than actually support one another - they are far too similar to be compatible, at least in my opinion. Anyway, rant over 😂 Looking forward to part 4!

THIS! this is what makes this game unique and different among the others. These characters LIVE, you can "read" their feelings and sometimes their thoughts too. It's a bit unconfortable and chaotic to put all together during your first playthrough but eventually you get the truth, with the help of a psychologist like you it's even easier! Analyzing the analysis (this is going to be a bit long and mostly redundant but your video are one of a kind, there's no place like this where you can discuss about these HUGE details): - 0:33 "sharing the same ideas doesn't mean that there's complicity in a relationship". Of course not, that's mostly the base of a good friendship. Then you're free to love somebody who is totally on your same wavelength but...isn't it a bit boring? I might be wrong on this, though! - 5:54 "every moment matters" she says...and every gesture too, I will add. This is very subtle, thanks to point it out to the folks. - 7:07 Genuinely one of my favourite aspect: it's not a case we are talking about their last side-mission to be unlocked; Cloud learned Aerith's lesson and that's just his final exam. Summa cum laude, I'd say. Aerith knows best, she is the REAL puppetmaster of Cloud (every reference is purely casual...) - 9:40 S**t! ok, you caught me. Let's mosey. - 10:23 It's not just Cloud being absent-minded, they are just talking a different language. Tifa doesn't help neither with her non-reaction. They just cancel each other out...yes, Cloud & Tifa are basically an oximoron ( YOU!!!, holds up the misconception, this is totally different from being complementary). What's on Aerith's menu instead? mmmh, let's see: - 10:52 2 delicious dishes: the starter, Perseverance. But IMO it's far more important the main course: Reaction, she REACTS!! You can't adress a problem without pointing it out, in first place. - 12:50 If you didn't yet, just read "The investigation Unit Within the Painting", it can help on that matter but if you love Aerith, it will hurts too. - 18:20 Here I just don't get Cloud's gesture, it seems futile and out of context, unless he is blinded by her cuteness (I would be tho :D ) - 20:40 Her reference...I just can't imagine her without Cloud. Is Aerith implying that she is doing all this just for him? - 20:49 OT1: That laugh...This is subtle, trivial, confusing and disturbing at the same time, you need to read the above mentioned book to get it. When Aerith laugths she is doing nothing but hiding a HUGE pain. She will not be able to enjoy that "today's special" forever, and she knows it. Which finally leads us to the conclusion, rolling back to: - 19:28 OT2:...let's step on the dark side of the moon: I will not hide it, I'm not optimistic, although I'm trying my best latelly. IMO they are just ULTRA-MEGA-IPER sugarcoating the pill. They can't throw in the bin 23 years of businness - compilation included - just to change what we think is a flaw in the plot. Furthermore, in every spin-off, sequels, commercials, crossovers, Cloud is depicted as "the guy who lost his love, forever" (for the sake of the analphabetic Cloti). How do you think they could retcon that if they keep her alive? They just can't do that. On a second thought, with this last 2 points I just realized a stupid (and selfish) thing: today, just like 23 years ago, they taught me how to love Aerith, they really did it...but...they just forgot to teach me how to fill the void for her loss, it's already happened once. What I mean is, you can't lose someone twice, right?

I love your reflections. It is such an enjoyable read. I also read the novel about Aerith. It was such a painful thing. LOL about Cloud's gesture at 18:20. I myself repeated that scene like 10 times. Even watched it in Japanese but he says the exact same thing. I think it was just a subconscious gesture that had nothing to do with the conversation. He probably would have gestured the same way no matter what they were talking about. And as for 20:40 it definitely tells us that she has been doing her best because she was with Cloud and he inspires her. Now if this has anything about her knowledge of the future or not... I didn't want to complicate things with that idea... As for your last point... they are not going to retcon anything. The OG will remain in tact, the remake is a sequel. If Aerith lives, it will not erase the fact that she once died and they changed the future. So basically we will have the best of both worlds.

about 20:40. The common theory now is that Aerith starts the Remake having full knowledge, memory and possibly feelings towards Cloud from her "past" self, the one from OG, AC and novellas. I think this scene is entirely about how Aerith realised that Cloud is not aware of this being their "reunion". She is giving up on trying to reunite with him romantically (she spent this whole day with him, because she wants to be with him and possibly catch up on their never fulfilled love), but at this point in the game she knows she is supposed to die. Thus she "gives up" on them because she doesn't want to burden Cloud with her pain and just accepts her fate like it is suposed to go 23 years ago. Only in the end of part1 she realizes that everything can change now. But most of her memories have been taken away by the ghosts at that point.

She also didn't know about the plate fall until Don Corneo told them about it. Proof Clotis claims are weak - Cloud is not the real Cloud that loves Aerith, he thinks he is Zack so are we talking about the same Cloud in remake that is with Tifa? Remember all those scenes with Cloud and Tifa, according to Clotis it is not the real Cloud. - Cloud gave Tifa the flower. It looks like a yellow lilly. Yellow lily means reunion and friendship. Square Enix tweeted a happy friendship day of Cloud giving Tifa the flower. - Cloud looks at the flower at the bar, he thinks of Aerith. - Cloud calls Tifa beautiful, now did he or did he called Cosmo Canyon beautiful or but he did say it but Tifa was also fishing for compliments "you know Cloud people usually say something sweet" 🎣 she was fishing. - Cloud dreams of his mom in Aerith house they claim older means mature, Aerith can be silly but it was to make Cloud feel comfortable to break down his walls and she does have her mature moments in the game especially towards the end. The skies at the end of the dream, its the same skies of Tifa promise or the music is the same, duh. Where is Cloud and Tifa from? Nibelheim, the same location the same skies the same music, it has nothing to do with Tifa. - in a recent interview, the said part of the reasons why being Zack back was to answer fans questions regarding Cloud character. I see where they are going with this, if Cloud is not the real Cloud why doesn't he have Zack outgoing personality. I won't spoil it but pay close to the characters with Sephiroth in the demo, only true fans will know why Square Enix added this to rebirth, who is Cloud in the demo with Sephiroth. Cloud loves Aerith.

Another great video and a very nice analysis. I don't hate Tifa or anything (as well with Clo/Ti) but it's just (to me personally) the relationship between Cloud/Tifa is pretty damn hard to be a romantic one. Surely that Tifa is a great character, she's kind, she's smart, she cares, she's sweet. But I think Cloud really doesn't give a fvck about it IMO. He needs someone who can truly understand him, who can show him how wonderful this life will be, who can really show him that he deserves all the loves and cares, who accepts him as the persona he is. And it's just only Aerith to me. Tifa? Meh, she's great but not whom Cloud needed. I did fall in love with Aerith and Cloud more than a decade ago. And still, keep them as my ideal relationship until now, an incomplete man with lots of weakness and traumas, always show off his does-not-give-a-fvck attitude to anyone. With a girl who also had a lot of dramas during her childhood, she also suffers from depressions but keeps her eyes and heart to look for hope and happiness during the dark age, always has an I-love-you-motherfvcer-no-matter-how attitude. They're completing each other. It's hard to see that kind of relationship in the real world, but who cares, it's just a game happens in a fantasy world. As always, I love your works. Thank you for keeping us hope(s). I do have a high hope that this time, Square Enix will finally let them Reunite as their (and ours) wishes. Let them have a happy ending Square ffs -_-

I was going to comment on how rude Cloud was to the old man in sector 5 (it shocked me that Aerith didn't say anything about it), but then I read a forum where people speculated that Cloud played the 'bad guy' on purpose so that the old man wouldn't give up on his late wife :')

...social awkwardness being explicitly called not negative and that people with it are "intense which makes them excel in a lot of other things" gave me such joy, like i was a little embarrassed by how much that touched me personally (i'm constantly self aware and comparing myself to people, like today) but putting the focus back on Cloud i happily accepted it as a statement possibly applicable to myself; i have so much respect for you for putting that forward. thank you for making these videos. i finished the game a little while ago and i'm still dazzled by their love story. with Aerith being such a nurturer she must feel so ...hmm "satisfied" doesn't seem like the right word, maybe "rewarded" or "invested in," seeing Cloud heal and grow and open up, a diamond in the rough, a good, sincere person that she sees clearly before and more than anyone else. i'm quite a bit in love with her too, and her voice actress on top of that. and Cloud has my heart, ever since i saw an interview in which oh i can't remember who it was who said Cloud isn't like other heroes, he's hard on himself. the self discovery character story and him possibly being an introvert make him my boy. his "that's where you are" line gave me the shivers. they give their best, fullest selves to each other. hoo boy, Clerith forever.

Aerith's greatest character flaw is that she's a coward. Her "maybe I should just give up. After all, it's what I do best." Literally says it all. She gives up before the fight even starts because she's afraid. Throughout Remake we're led to believe Aerith has an inkling of the future but she doesn't try to change any of the events because she's a coward. She's afraid of changing the future because even if she is dead, at least Sephiroth loses. Why hope for something better when what you have is already good enough? It's the same concept with Midgar/vs. the world outside. She tells all of this to Zack who promises to take her outside of Midgar which he never does. The one who gives her courage is Cloud. He gives her hope that they can change Destiny. He's the one who pushes her to try harder and it culminates with their fight against the Whispers. That's her resolution. Thanks for this video. You put a lot of work into this series and it really shows. You've done a fantastic job so far.

Very nice observation, and yes you're right, i think Aerith is afraid of the future that she knew ( although maybe incomplete or fragmenting ) and she's weary with her responsibility as a Cetra .By the bye, not everyone have courage to stare Death in the eye and punch His nose again and again.Fortunately, she has Cloud beside her.

I wouldn't say she's a coward, but yes she is fearful. But cowardice is a decision, and ultimately Aerith decides to face her fears a lot of times, although I really can't say she's brave either. lol. But yes, Cloud does give her courage and strength. And without him she is prone to giving up. This is not true in all aspects of her life though. She seems really optimistic about other things, but her burden as a cetra is pretty heavy and I guess she has a hard time carrying it on her own. Cloud just comes out as really dependable. I just really hope he doesn't fall into despair and let's Aerith get killed again. The problem with this couple is they are too reckless when it comes to saving each other. Tbh, Cloud could have easily gotten himself, Barret and Tifa killed by going to Shinra HQ, the odds were totally against them. And Aerith rushed to cast Holy just to alleviate Cloud's guilt about the Black Materia. They are crazy. Contrary to what a lot of people think about Aerith casting Holy to save the planet, the truth is she could have waited. Meteor takes a long time to cast, Holy is a lot faster. She didn't need to do it right away by herself when Cloud was still feeling down. But she wanted to alleviate his guilt. Had she casted Holy successfully without dying, it would have eliminated his actions of giving the Black Materia to Sephiroth. They are morons.

  • @StakeMammon

    @StakeMammon

I wouldn't say that she faces her fears a lot. My best example is before the plate attack. Tifa asks Aerith if there's something she's not telling them and she lies because she's afraid how Cloud and Tifa would react. I don't think it's mutually exclusive. She's both a coward and optimistic. Which is why it works so well with Cloud's self-doubt and dependability. I agree. They ARE absolute morons. When I played the OG I kept thinking, a lot of Cloud's pain could have been avoided if Tifa wasn't lying about their past the whole time. But looking back, the pain the whole damn cast goes through is mostly self-inflicted. It's really frustrating.

Mammon If Aerith is a coward then Cloud must be the biggest one and Tifa second. The only thing she's afraid is s.o would take her unlucky fate. To be cleared, she senses that she would die young, and to change destiny might lead to the death of another. She loves her life but she doesn't want anyone to die because of her choice.

  • @StakeMammon

@@minh-thunguyen8677 She's afraid of a lot of things. She doesn't leave Midgar because she's afraid of Meteor. She's afraid Zack might be dead so she would rather believe he ran off with someone else. She's afraid Cloud might feel guilty over the Black Materia so she does something stupid and literally dies for it. Her cowardice is a central driving force of her character and it's important to note. On the other hand Cloud's greatest character is his low self-esteem/self-worth. Tifa's problem is her abandonment issues and jealousy. Their flaws are what drives their actions. To ignore them is just a waste

I tried to watch all cloti fan vid. And their reason is so simple not like your vid. Your vid show the fact about clerith is so true and clear. I’m really sick with SOME of cloti theory about cloud is not loved aerith, tifa is canon and real heroin and Cloud is belong to her by default. Such as - Tifa and cloud are childhood friends. They’re so closed relationship. - Tifa and cloud spent time together in the highwind scene (That is the point of cloti fandom) some of cloti confirmed that scene they had sex already! - Tifa and cloud had a depth connection more than aerith. - Cloud is being as zack’s memories and feeling while he together with aerith - Tifa fixed cloud’s memories and get him back his trueself and cloud have strong feeling with tifa after he remember everything. - After aerith death, cloud felt guilt with her death and its not love but guilt for friend - Tifa and cloud are understand each other even without saying. Honestly, Almost all cloti fan never accepted or listened to clerith evidence at all. Almost of them just want to break down clerith fan even clerith fan have so many evidence or referenced. They liked to blind their eyes and keep going to give a simple reason. You know, I never feel anything romance between of them. I felt tifa is cloud first crush when he was a boy but After he regained memories. his dialogue when talked with her is like talked with his old friend. Even in Remake, i felf tifa is friendzone more than love interest by dialogue, bodylanguage, eyes contact. I’m so disaapoint almost of them that they never understand the true story telling about cloud feeling. There are so many hint in the OG and ACC about his feeling. I know that if cloud end up with aerith. That will made tifa look very pitiful. Because she loves cloud And some of aggressive fandom will be blamed that aerith take him away from her. I’m really angry when some toxic cloti fan say that aerith is garbage, too annoying, flirty bitch They’re never respect to other opinion or ship even charactor in game. What a shame.

Given all the novellas, AC, and everything that Cloud still thinks of Aerith all the time as evidence, there is still no convincing them. Hollow is so obviously about Aerith (lyrics and timing it plays in the game) but there are still deniers. But unless Cloud says "I CLOUD DO NOT HAVE ZACK's MEMORIES AND I LOVE YOU AERITH", there will be deniers.

I'm so glad I found your videos of Clerith because I finally find people who are at the same page as me. I mean like most people ship Cloti just because they are "supposed" to, but from the beginning I've always shipped Clerith. From the first moment I saw Aerith and cloud together, I know I want to ship them. I don't personally hate on Tifa but tbh I just cant find what I like about her and her being the perfect "waifu". I know and can't deny that, she is still important to Cloud, but Aerith brings out Cloud's value even more I would say. And I think she kinda brought some trauma to young Cloud to some certain extent after watching all the explanations. Anyways I would only ship Cloti on the other parallel world where Zack remains alive, if not, Clerith for life.

I actually support Zifa... I think they are almost another version of clerith. Zack is exuberant and charming, while Tifa is shy and grounded. Sounds familiar? In CC, Aerith's character is almost similar to Tifa's. She's basically sweet and shy. Totally not Aerith. I would love an ending where Cloud and Zack start an official mercenary service together, like with an office and all. Tifa runs a bar and Aerith a flower shop. Cloud and Tifa have become real close friends and he would drink at her bar and Zack would tease him to not flirt with his wife where Cloud would scowl at him and Aerith decks Zack and tells him not to project himself into Cloud. I think all four of them would look so good given the right partners. I think it's fanfic time. lol

It is more than just his connection to her, he also sees visions of her death and also fought destiny to change the future. If he still looses her, he would be inconsolable. How powerless and useless would that make one person feel. AC would be a joke. I don't think SE will torture Cloud this way.

There may be a chance for us to save Aerith in this one. Putting into credit all the premonitions Cloud has been getting, even messages from Sephiroth, he would do better than to fail again this time around. Besides, I think, in Sephiroth's mind, letting Aerith live is a good thing for him. Although she holds Cloud together, keeping him from breaking completely, Sephiroth thinks he will remain uncontested in the Lifestream. If we refer to the Shinra presentation about the Cetra, there lies the clue that Aerith doesn't necessarily have to die. That is my opinion.

Pollen Ainne I think for the Remake we will see things reversed. Jenova/Sephiroth is going to hold Aerith hostage in exchange for Cloud’s “services”, which Cloud would be willingly do so given how important Aerith is to him. This would take place in the Forgotten City and the party will have to travel to North Crater without Cloud in the party. We would then see Aerith be the devastated one as we know that she can revert back to negative thoughts without Cloud. This will be until she sees the video recordings of her parents in Icicle Inn, which will help give her the resolve to set things right.

You know, I love being a part of the Clerith community. We don’t just take everything at face value. We dissect every single thing; every gesture; every memory or moment every line and then we pick a part evidence that is provided in every game or in every installment and what developers say about the game. There’s so much intelligence and analysis that goes through the storyline and the characters ‘ personalities themselves and we just don’t go off by how we feel or how we like about them. I also noticed that we’re a relatively peaceful group. I noticed that we generally just watch would be like you know we hang out and then comment on videos that support our ship, but when it comes to some-and I’m not generalizing that all of them act like this- Some cloti shippers like to go to our videos explaining how or why we think this is a canon pairing and then they just say toxic stuff or say we’re delusional. There’s far more of them trying to mess with the things we like then a fellow clerith shipper going off to their videos and saying their thoughts and what they like is messed up.
