I'm Steve, and joining me today is Fran, as we delve into the intriguing world of kitchen appliances. In this video, we're putting two heavyweights head-to-head: SKS and Thermador.
In a rapidly evolving market, it's essential to grasp the nuances of each brand, especially in the premium appliance segment. SKS, a division of LG, brings cutting-edge innovation and top-notch quality, while Thermador has long been synonymous with luxury and dependability.
Let's kick things off by exploring the ranges offered by both brands. SKS impresses with its brass burners, high BTU outputs, and innovative features like induction cooking and Sous Vide capabilities. Meanwhile, Thermador offers a wide range of configurations, providing unmatched versatility for passionate cooks.
Shifting our focus to refrigeration, both brands offer integrated options with sleek designs and premium features. While SKS boasts larger interior space and unique ice options, Thermador stands out with its variety of configurations, including French doors and customizable compartments.
When it comes to dishwashers, SKS takes the spotlight as a high-end LG dishwasher known for its reliability and advanced features. However, Thermador, although a rebranded Bosch model, offers competitive pricing and enticing package deals, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers.
Throughout our discussion, Fran and I weigh the pros and cons of each brand, providing valuable insights into performance, features, and overall value proposition. Whether you're drawn to cutting-edge technology or traditional craftsmanship, this video equips you with the knowledge to make an informed decision for your kitchen.

I'd be completely sold on SKS if they had more induction burners than gas on the cooktop - and I can do without the sous vide given there are a lot of options for that already (including similar results using a combi steam oven). Ideally, I'd want a gas wok burner and the rest induction; could be sold on a infrared grill though for air quality probably better to grill outside. Their 48" French door refrigerator is super nice - I love the attention to detail. Looking forward to seeing how their line up evolves.

I'm in the market for a 36" all gas range and I've narrowed down my choices to SKS, Thermador and Wolf. This video is very helpful but I still cannot decide! SKS has a better griddle and oven but Thermador seems like a safer choice from a service/reliability standpoint. Wolf BTU output isn't as strong and only has a single convection oven but the service is hard to beat. Help! I'm going crazy reading reviews trying to decide.

What do you like to do? SKS is an amazing unit for features, while the other two have better name recognition, etc

I love that SKS has the steam oven. I'm not interested in the sous vide. I'd like all induction or 4-6 induction 2 gas, etc. If they sold it with "modules," you could pick, it would be a winner. Sous Vide is a nice novelty thing to try, but I'd never pay for it in a range. Also, we want color choices, not just stainless. I did call SKS, and they acted like the Sous Vide was the most requested option out there. They are wrong.

Sub Z and Miele promote 20+ year longevity on their appliances. Fran recently commented that we should expect most appliances to break down within 7-10 years. Do you guys believe that brands like SKS and Thermador are closer to Sub Z and Miele in quality or closer to the 7-10 year lifespan? I know appliances are fickle but I’m asking big picture. Thanks!

They're both no doubt great appliance ranges. BUT: you'll have ONLY the boring, ubiquitous STAINLESS STEEL to choose from. No thanks.
