There's definitely a difference between the microphone internal and the external one. You can't hear the autofocus with the external mic.

Honestly, Sigma saved CANON APSC as well as SONY APSC!! I have the sony e mount version and they're the SHARPEST, fastest auto focusing lens (except for the new G master) for SONY APSC!!

30mm pricing is excellent! When it was first released, it was $330ish, but I am glad that it came down to the $280 price point like the other mounts!

overall, I think the 16mm would make this a perfect walk around lens when I am in Europe and in the small villages.

I've really enjoyed the Canon 22mm/F2. I think this lens was used for 95% of the pictures I took for my Japan trip. Full disclosure: I am hardly a pro or even semi-pro photographer. I am a little more travel focused and snapping pictures of friends/places/experiences. Anyways... I ran around Japan with an M100 and 22mm prime. For the most part, it did everything I needed. There's certainly limitations. Very low-light... it really struggled. The two place that I encountered this combo struggling was Omoide Yokocho (famous restaurant/bar alley in Tokyo) and the Osaka Aquarium in some of their darker exhibits. The pros of the set-up is that it was perfect to travel with. Small... compact... fits into your jacket pocket. I think the Canon 22mm is a good price-point also. It retails for $250, but I've seen it on sale between $200-$220, and refurbished from Canon for less than $200. If you need the extra performance from the extra half-stop and wider angle of the Sigma, understandable. If it isn't something you need, maybe the Canon might be the better bang for the dollar route.

That footage is 100% stable enough for my style. This trip looks like the perfect bang for your buck group of lenses for vlogging, videography, and photography for a beginner like me. Media tech is expensive!! But I think it's a good investment and these products are definitely more inexpensive than alternatives. Thank you!!

Yes, the 56 will give you the most separation (assuming you have enough room). The 30 would also work. You can see in the Captain America photos the difference in terms of the size of the light orbs.

I can't speak for videos, but I didn't really care for the 15-35mm kit lens for stills. I find myself using the Canon 22mm prime a lot and really enjoy that. The 55-200mm kit lens is kind of a sleeper in my opinion. It isn't something I grab often, but surprisingly, I've gotten a lot of great pictures with it.

I always love your content very informative and helpful in choosing the right lenses and accessories for any type of cameras. Keep it up bro! 🙂

@maneesh Saxena - Thank you for the kind words. I have an a7iii and the AF on it is great. As far as stabilization, it depends on what you expectations are. There is no dslr/mirrorless camera that I've ever used that gives me "very" smooth footage. I will always use a gimbal if I want the most stable results. I hope this makes sense.

Sagiee i have a quick questions about efm mount? what about using a tokina 11-16 with viltrox speedbooster on a m6 mark ii or canon m50 ? Does it vignette or not work ?

Hi there. It will not work with the speedbooster because it's an aps-c lens. It should work with the regular adapter though. I hope this helps

Have had an M5 and M6 for a long time but hadn't bought a lens in a long time. Just ordered the 30mm for $275 as I have the 56mm on my A6000 and really like it. Good overview of these

Thank you for creating such great content. I'm a sales professional looking to level up my zoom game and your content helped me make incredibly informed decisions. I landed on an SL3 (my first DSLR ever) for a variety of reasons. After really digging in with your videos (and some others) I narrowly avoided the mistake of buying the nifty fifty and opted instead for the Sigma 30mm F1.4 Art DC HSM Lens for Canon. I only received my gear yesterday yet in my initial tests, the combination of the sl3+sigma+elgato 4K capture card creates an incredible presence on zoom at a reasonable price point - exactly what I envisioned - Thank you!

Thank you for the video, well done! I just received my 16mm one and I love it. It has a fast accurate autofocus, pleasing bokeh, wide enough, good balance with my M6, and very sharp! I have many other kind of cameras and lenses, but this lens is one of my favourites.

You are sooooo incredibly good at your explanations I love it. I have truly enjoyed all your videos. I am in my 50's considering a hobby and photography has been one. The M50 is a camera I have had my eye on for a long time. But like anything else especially during the extraordinary times we are all in at this moment, budget is a big deal. The lenses cost a fortune however the sigma is certainly a game-changer. Thank you for all the work you put into your work.. What's up! Great camera you have - congrats! If it were me, I'd probably get the 30mm because it's smaller, lighter, sharper and less gear to take with you. The only reason I may get the 50, is if I was ALSO going to buy other EF lenses to use with the speedbooster. Does that help? Thank you for supporting the channel. 🙏

Amazing review. I like your work, it’s always clear, concise (yet with just the right detail), and you have a terrific model. I haven’t read any of the others comments on motor noise so this is straight out of my own thoughts, I could not at any time hear any of the motor noise in any of the samples. As you stated, I heard floor noise in the one part, and at one point I heard what I thought was some family noise to include may a child, but otherwise . . I heard nothing in the way of ratcheting or whir while the lens(es) were focusing. I love this kit (all 3) and if only the M50m2 had a headphone jack, I’d see it as the most amazing camera ever built in the M line, much like the 90D in the EF-S crop line. Thanks again for your review and for the wonderful presentation. Assuming I buy the M50m2 I’ll definitely get the Sigma set. Now a question . . Which ZOOM lens to buy for the M50 and which TELEPHOTO lens to buy for the M50?

How are you stopping down the aperture off camera? I appreciate you're explicit about what a FoV crop does instead of just saying "The focal length changes".

Great review. I have great things about the 16mm. The lack of stabilisation always worried me, but footage looks great in the video. I will wait for the m5/m50 specs to be released before I purchase. Just incase they change the mount to some rf hybrid or release some native glass. Hopefully head news soon?🤔 But some awesome glass for a system that does lack in the lens department. First off I love all of your videos. I have had an M50 for a year now and recently lost my job so I am finally getting time to explore it. I really want to get into portrait and headshot photography so I am wondering if I should get them 30 or 56.. When I went to b&H the other day the guy wasn't very helpful and pretty intimidating... The 56mm seemed very close to subjects when I was playing with it. is the 30mm a good way to start if im feeling this way?

I bought all three of these today, and I'm just blown away. Paired with my new M50 they're amazing! Extremely sharp at f/1.4. Especially the 56mm is extremely beautiful for portraits. I could not be happier! The Canon 22mm f/2 I bought yesterday is a real lackluster. Regret it very much. Sigma saved the day

Another great review.. I've always appreciated the number of sample photos/clips in your reviews/tutorials. The 16mm is looking great, when I watched the last video I was like "what lens is that, probably a higher quality canon with a booster", now I see it was the 16mm. Super nice look. I kind of gave up on my 11-22mm a little because of the f stop and the post-work hassle with shadow "artifacts".. All of the lenses look amazing. I'm so glad I discovered your channel! I think the M50 has great niche of new, aspiring photographers and videographers. Until I came across your videos there was a huge void of KZreadrs who discuss (1) fundamental camera concepts in a way that's easy to understand and, and (2) information that is specific to the fantastic entry-level Canon M50. There are many KZreadrs who have videos on the M50, but it's readily apparent that they've only used it 1-2 times. I trust your opinion more because it's easy to see that you use it quite frequently! Now for my question if I may. My primary purpose is to shoot cinematic travel videos, and then some indoor product reviews. I was initially going to go for the Canon EF-M 22m, Canon EF 50mm plus Viltrox Speedbooster, and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 with adapter (there's some really good M50 cinematic videos taken by a KZreadr named Callum Cookson and that's his go-to lens). But after reading the comments it seems like I might be better off just getting the Sigma 18-35mm with adapter because it would give me the same focal lengths as the Canon 22 and 50mm in one package. What do you think? Can the Sigma 18-35mm be used for both talking head and outdoor cinematic videos? Thanks!

Hi. A few things. First, the 18-35mm is my favorite lens. period. There is no other single lens I would trade it for. Other than the fact that it's heavy, it's amazing. I'd skip the 22 unless you want something super small and light to be able to vlog with (holding the M50 with the adapter and the 18-35 gets heavy). Hope that helps.

I recently bought the Sigma 30mm lens for my Canon EOS M6 Mark II and I was pleasantly impressed with the quality / price.

Thanks for this video, very well explained. I am looking to get a lens for my bee m50. I’m just wondering which ones to get. I film inside of a room and close to the camera, mostly at night with some key lights. Which one is good for inside filming?

I purchased the Sigma 30/1.4 two months ago and really like it. Solid price point at $280ish. $140 savings on the EF-M 32mm/1.4. I would love to be able to play with the 16mm and 56mm. I think the Canon EF-M 22mm is hard to beat. I think retail is $250. Time to time, you can see it on sale for $200-220. Refurbished from Canon and it is sub-$200. Only F2 though, but it's compact. When I was traveling through Japan last year, I had the 22mm on my M100. Easy to store in my jacket pocket. I think that would be hard to achieve with any of these Sigma lenses.

​@@TechGearTalk I think this is typically true with most things... but getting that little extra performance usually dictates the huge price premiums. Diminishing returns for the value (price versus performance). I think you pay modest money money for the first 80% of performance... then you pay noticeably more money for the next 10%... then astronomical for the next 5%. I think for me... as an enthusiast/novice, I think it'd be hard for me to justify the $300+ price point. Mainly just snapping memories for myself and to share on FB/IG/etc. I seriously had trouble pulling the trigger for the 22mm at $250. I think during my 2 weeks in Japan, I think there were maybe 2 or 3 times I wish I had something with a wider aperture, both of those times were due to low-light. Just thinking out-loud from the value stand-point. Just some comparisons: Sigma 30/1.4 vs Canon 32/1.4: I think the Sigma 30/1.4 would be a better choice than the Canon 32/1.4 mainly due to the gap in price. I think the Sigma is almost $200 cheaper. You can almost buy another Sigma 30mm! Sigma 30/1.4 or Sigma 16/1.4 vs Canon 22/2: This gets a little tricky because these comparisons are not apples to apples. Sigma 30 over Canon 22. 22mm is super compact, but the 30 has half a stop more than the Canon, but at a $30 premium. I think if you can find the Canon new or refurbished at a great price (sub-$200), I think I would be pretty even. I think Canon 22 over Sigma 16. $150 price difference for a little wider angle and aperture at the current retail price. Opportunity cost, right? $150-$200 difference. Do I go with an exceptional lens or do I go with a great lens that performs a little less than the exceptional one, and treat myself to an omakase sushi dinner? Not saying that I am right or wrong. Just sharing my thought process.

First of all, now I'm hungry for Sushi. I would get the 30 over the 32, and the 16 over the 22 (assuming I needed the extra width). If I wanted a super compact setup, I'm getting the 22 and calling it a day!

While Gerald Undone is the best at technical reviews of technology in my opinion, Sagi and Tech Gear Talk is the best hands down at explaining things in an understandable way. The application of knowledge, and practical real world usage is phenomenal. I have learned so much from your videos in the last year, its truly inspiring your approach and cadence when it comes to this material. Absolutely a tech gear rock star in the making. Thank you

This video is fantastic. Just recently getting into photography and it's difficult to weed through some of the videos. I was looking at these lenses and it's great to see such a thorough review with examples. thanks for putting this together....I was looking at the 16mm, now I'm also looking at the 56MM

just ordered the 16mm for my m50 and i'm super excited to finally have one of these. ever since i got into youtube i've wanted that lens but i'd gone canon when i started. Once they released these lenses i immediately upgraded from the sl2 to the m50 for this reason.

Tech Gear Talk would one of those speed boosters work on aps-c lenses? Or do they pretty much only work on full frame lenses? I’m guessing there would be heavy vignetting but I’m curious what your thoughts are

They are only designed to work with full frame lenses. They definitely won't work with they aps-c lenses (because of the mount) and I never tried EF-S mount lenses. Not sure they would actually mount.

The mic that I'm now looking at is the RODE GO. I just love that one. As for the lens, they all look wonderful. Dream package. Thank you for the sound test. never had a problem with the previous lenses, it was always a second camera and the 11 to 22 and the sankor fish eye did super work

First - your videos are amazing! So informative without pushing any given solution but really encouraging us to make choices based on our specific situation. Which brings me to my question - I currently have a Canon 750D and use it as a my webcam for my coaching sessions. I am considering switching to the M50 but was wondering about lens. I keep the camera on a tripod at a little shy of 3 ft from me. I don't want to show too much background and also love the rich depth of field that comes from a 50mm but I don't want to appear too close up either (so just a talking head). From about 3 ft from me, how wide a view would the 16mm and 30mm give me? And would the 30mm be too close for that distance? Look forward to your suggestions! THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks for explaining what “fast” means. More light equals ability to shoot at faster shutter speeds. I’m learning. 🙌🏾
