  • @dunnadidit

    @dunnadidit

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks brother! I have the 50mm too(as I’m sure you saw from the comparisons in the video) I think the biggest thing for a lot of people is that the 56 doesn’t have oss and the 50 does. So if you shoot on the a6000 or a6300... it’s tough. If you shoot on the a6500, the upgrade is a lot easier to justify.

  • @GordLamb

    I just received my 56/1.4 for MFT (mounted on a g85). It's strongly competing against the 30/1.4 as my new favorite lens. The bokeh is absolutely gorgeous at any aperture, and it's so beautifully sharp wide open. Makes it feel like I'm shooting on a full frame camera at half the weight. Between the Sigma 16, 30 and 56, and (hopefully soon for me) the Samyang 135/2.0, there are so many breathtakingly good MFT options these days. Regarding the focal length, it's also *awesome* for nature stills photography and indoor sports.

  • @dunnadidit

    @dunnadidit

    Hey Jim! Thanks so much! 1. It might be a bit sketchy, I found that even with ibis, I had to be quite careful. But if you’re willing to take the extra time to steady yourself and try a few times to get the shot, it’s doable. 2. I don’t have any experience with the 55 but from what I’ve seen, I think this lens will outperform the 55mm

    I just ordered this for my A6400! I'd love some opinions on how this will perform considering there is no IS in the lens or body of the camera. I don't shoot much video if any and mostly plan to take portrait style photos with this while hunting and being outdoors. I have the 30mm sigma prime, and the kit lens (with OSS) which I use mostly for running and gunning. I've heard I will struggle with focused images in low light situations - however, I do use a tripod a lot. Especially for long exposure night shots etc. Should I be concerned?

    Great review! I just got this lens and it is tack sharp! Regarding auto focus, this is my second auto focus lens so not an auto focus expert. I have my A 6500 set on Continuos AF and center spot and the lens set to Apature is slow to focus! If I aim it at a picture frame 12 feet away and it grabs focus, then I put my hand up 3 feet in front of the camera, it won't focus on my hand unless I half press the shutter? I called B&H thinking I have a defective lens and the particular rep I got said that kind of auto focus where you just point the camera at something and it grabs focus when you move between near and far subjects only works in video! What say you? I thought modern auto focus cameras were supposed to quickly grab focus in photo mode as well? I see various lens reviews for Sigma and Tameron on 6000 Sony APSC and the focus is snappy between a near and far object - is that automatic or are they quickly half pressing the shutter? Thanks for your insights!

    Hey Dunna, I just watched all your trilogy review of the sigma lenses. I'm new to videography and I want to buy 2 lenses. What do you think would be a good combination for travel? I guess the 16mm is a must for landscapes, would you pick the 30 or 56mm as a secondary lens? I have the a6500 and mainly do video.

    Ooh that’s a tough question. If I had to pick two I guess I would go with the 16 and 56. Especially if you shoot mainly video. Because you can use clear image zoom to get the 16mm to a 32mm if you want.

    Haha well that’s good to hear! Yes, because this lens is designed for apsc cameras, when you put it on your a7iii it automatically goes into crop mode which means that you’re cropping your sensor by 1.5. So out of your 24 pixels, you’re only using 10 or so. Which is still good for posting online as long as you don’t have to crop in a lot.

    It's definitely more practical shooting portraits with a 56mm on APS-C, but of course it's the optical qualities portrait photographers are after using an 85mm (and you'll only get that with an 85mm regardless of the camera). Rather than standing a mile away, I'm still more inclined to shoot portraits with a 56mm on an APS-C, and that f1.4 makes up for what little you might lose not shooting a longer focal length with a 1.8 or 2.8. I've been pondering replacing my long since sold 85mm 1.8 with this 56 if I don't move everything to full frame

    Well, if you were using it on a crop body, 85mm would become 127.5mm so it would be quite zoomed in. Also, dxomark rated the Sigma 30mm higher than the Sony 85 f1.8 when mounted on the a6000. And I think this lens beats the 30mm, so I think in the end, this one will be better quality than the 85 and a more manageable focal length too.

    Thanks man! Waiting for good review of this one, this is enough for me :D I will buy this one! Now i can do incredible portraits :D By the way i want to buy second one sigma lens, but hard to pick one of 16 and 30mm :/ Probably i would pick 16mm, because it will do bigger difference than 30 :D Thanks again for review!

    Thanks for watching Dyra! If you’re going to pick up the 56, I’d say go with the 16 first to compliment it! Glad you liked the review! If you feel like using the links in the description to purchase too that would be super awesome!!

    @@dunnadidit thanks for reply :D I have one more question. What fullframe Sony will be good after A6300? Was thinking about A7II but its almost the same, A7R2?

    I would seriously consider the a7iii if you can. But if you need more megapixels for large prints and such, then the a7rii or a7riii

    Cool! Go with that then, but your original question was more than just that. Honestly, I’d probably bring a zoom lens, but your question was pretty specific lol

    Yeah people really love super wide lenses. I'm only just getting used to that field of view now but I dunno how I feel about it yet lol. I love my 16mm f1.4 though. It's great but for what you said, I still figure the 30mm but I don't do urbex... maybe you need an ultrawide for that.
