One of the best real world reviews on this lense I’ve seen. I’m so tired of content creators just repeating the spec sheet. Your photos and videos were incredibly good and your color grading was superb. Thank you for a great video.

Not to mention some great looking footages. Subscribing! I own Tamron 28-75mm G2 lens and contemplating on replacing it with this Sigma lens. I just find that 28mm is a bit limiting.

I am currently using my kit lens 28-60mm F4-5.6. I am eyeing for this lens. Do you think it is worthwhile upgrading to sigma since I have overlapping focal lengths? I am a beginner and I have no experience with other lens apart from the kit lens that I am using currently. What would be your opinion? Should I upgrade to sigma 24-70 F2.8 or should I get a Sony 35mm F1.8 for low-light photography along with the kit lens? I usually find myself shooting the skies, family, portraits and landscape. I tried capturing the moon but yeah I guess telephoto is the way to go and I don't want to get there just yet. Also, I won't be able to rent out the sigma lens because it is not available for rent in my country. I can rent the Sony 35 1.8 thought to see if it is to my liking.

Really helpful video I’ve been looking at this lens for a few months now. I have the Sigma 50mm and 24mm. I need something versatile that ‘does it all’. I’ve never owned a zoom lens and I love Sigma glass so I’m thinking this is great option, the Sony GM is way out of my price range! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • @BryceKoebel

Yesss I've used the 24-70mm and I can confirm that there is no noticeable difference to me in performance or quality, Maybe a slight advantage in auto-focus for the GM but not worth the extra $1000 :)

Hi just watched i guess the best review if this lens. And now i feel good that i really bought it. Let me know if i did wrong choice of lens. My body is sonya7iv. I was using sony50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. Those lenses are good but i feel like the 50mm focus is slow and annoying sound of it. And the 85mm is just ok. Anyway i still have the 30days before to return it. So i return those lenses and bought the sigma 85mm 1.4 (the new version) and that sigma24-70mm 2.8. So far i love both lenses specially the 85mm. Im not a pro i did some parties some weddings just a secondary photographer. Now my question is u think i overspent buying? Also i was wondering hows the dust issues with the 24-70m. Again thank you if u respond.

Great content! Imagine you've just bought a Sony FX30 and want a zoom lens. Also think that it is in the future plans to buy a full frame camera that delivers photos, to form the kit, since the FX30 doesn't deliver photos so well and has a cropped sensor... it could be a Sony A7IV or even an A7SIII (if my inbox full of jobs and I make a lot of money). So, in lens research for the FX30 you narrow down to two options: 1. the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 apsc lens (the Tamron 28-75mm and the Sigma 18-50mm were left out because they do not offer the range of this one, 17-70mm); 2. The Sigma Art 24-70mm f2.8 full frame lens, even with the FX30 sensor crop. So you reflect (here you are, man, get into character): should I go with the Tamron apsc ($699) or the Sigma full frame ($1,099)?? I think about now (an apsc camera) and save $400 for other equipment (for starting as an audiovisual production company is always necessary!) or I think about the future, when I have a full frame camera, and start with a fucking Sigma Art, which can be used on the A7IV? Not satisfied, you still wonder: does the Sigma Art look (which is beautiful!!!) make up for a difference of $400 for the Tamron lens, which does not have an incredible look, but will deliver a few mm more and is stabilized (the lens from Sigma is not)? These are my (our! hehe) questions. If you have any indications beyond these, let me know. I did a lot of research, but some may have gone unnoticed. Lenses like the Sony 18-105mm and 24-105mm were left out, as they are f4; and Sony GM line lenses for being a simple fortune. Thank you and success with the images!

Hi Brice ! Love your review, i'd would like to know how you're using the aperture in filmakking with this lens ? For example in your video (8:20, 8:21) which aperture are you using when you dont have a subject close to the frame for the depth of field for example ? Imagine you are in a bright, cloudy day in the city and you record just the city without a subject, will u using 2.8 on this lens or 5.6 or 8? i'm from photo so i'm using a lot 8 to 11 for everything in 'focus' but in filmmaking mostly people using 2.8 to film with this lens even in the day , Thanks for your help

  • @BryceKoebel

    @BryceKoebel

    Жыл бұрын

That’s a great question! I feel like it translates to video the same way. Most people just like the look of 2.8 and below, but for me I usually Shoot everything at 2.8-4.0 on this lens. But if I want everything in focus I’ll go between 4.0-5.6. Mostly because I don’t want to bring the ISO up. Video gets really noisy with video as opposed to video so we might be a little more sensible with ISO 😂

Easy no hesitation subscription. It's nice that we have videos out there with very clinical tests where a lens it put through the paces. That's super helpful. I hate watching them.. every. single. time. This review is honestly a breath of fresh air. The production ensures that but the content itself sells that vibe as actually authentic. Super relatable and it just shows your actual experience. What you have done, what you will do, and how this lens fit into that cycle. Probably the most helpful video I've seen on a lens in the last.. I dunno, ever? Thanks for sharing! Dunno if you see comments on these old posts... but if you have a minute, what are your thoughts on this lens for shooting in Manhattan? I have a 24-70/F4 Zeiss and it simply can't resolve the immense detail the city offers up. In your opinion- is the Sigma up to the task?

  • @BryceKoebel

Hey I’m looking to buy this lens - how Will it hold up on a gimbal? I have the ronin s. Thanks :)

Its great man. I have the Ronin S2 and it works perfectly. The Ronin S is made for much heavier loads. Just a tip - make sure to zoom to the middle while balancing (around 45mm) so that you can zoom in and out without having to rebalance :) I just used this set-up last night actually and it was great!

@@BryceKoebel thanks for replying man:) Yeahh it looks like a great lens. I’m totally torn between this and the 24 - 105. It’s so difficult to decide. I have the 85 1.8 too… Thanks for the advice :) how was the shoot??

@@Francescofilmmaker What camera do you have? I heard the 24-105 is great, but I shoot a lot of things in low light so the f/2.8 is helpful. Good man thanks for asking :)

@@Francescofilmmaker Fudge... Great camera. Well it has great low-light so I'm sure you'll be fine with whatever you get. I think having a good zoom + a prime then you're good to go!

when you shake the lens is there a light rattle? if so is this normal?

Yes there is. My guess is there is some impact prevention tech inside because of all the glass elements. But I could be wrong.
