I recently bought the Sigma 24/1.4 and 85/1.4 - they are both incredible lenses! I already have the Sony 20/1.8, but am considering selling it and buying the Sigma version instead. I am LOVING what Sigma is building these days. And the video AF on the A7RV with the Sigma lenses is quite snappy - still not as fast as Sony lens, but nearly there.

i bought that lens like 2 months ago for my lumix s5 !! i use it for astro photography and low light vlogging / wide angle videos. I really like it :)

This is the wide-angle to get for L-mount, but there are also loads of excellent and more practical first-party L-mount wides now, too -- I want them all! Lumix 14-28, Sigma compact 16-28 f/2.8, Lumix 18mm, Lumix 20-60, Leica-cert 16-35, actual Leica 16-35, Leica-tl 11-23, Sigma Art 14-24, then all those summicron-style I-series f/2s and super-tiny demi-macro 24mm f/3.5... I don't shoot wide enough to jusrify more than two, but ... PRECIOUS!!!!

Which microphone and which audio interface are you using in this video? Sound is really good even on a smartphone.

Kai, DG = Digital Grade (apparently compared to older lenses for film cameras? I dunno) DN = Digital Neo And for reference, the DC on APS-C lenses means Digital Compact What lens did you film the first bit with? The CA was a bit... distracting I don't mind the delayed reviews, it's nice seeing reviews of a lens you've had some time to get familiar with.

i own this lens as a EF version. Its the only one remaining from my old DSLR Kit (moved over to fully RF) because its so dangem sharp. It has a bit of coma, on the other hand f1.4! Its chunky heavy but i love it for its sharpness. Protip: Put a macro tube on it, 20mm "macro" shots (close focal distance is within the lense xD) are something really cool

🥂 The new design 20mm is apparently perfect for astro - they've made the acuity very even across the frame. Apparently the SLR design is sharper in the very centre, though - as is this 24mm, but they reduced the centre for the new 20 in favour of the full field.

Good lens to pair with your new S5II. Sigma L mount ftw.

Yup, each mm on the lower side of focus range have more weight in terms of an angle than each mm on the higher side.

With an ultrawide, the corners CANNOT be in focus together with the centre of the flat image. The distances from subject to camera in the centre are much smaller than from the corners to the camera. Something with Pythagoras. Look it up.

dunno if anyone cares but i almost only get sigma lenses for my Lumix S5 ... in fact i've only purchased 1 Lumix lens for it (apart from the kit lens ) and 4 sigma lenses ... i dunno i just really like how sigma lenses perform ... although they aren't made for video they are still usable

I want this lens so bad! Will be the last one of my Sigma trinity 35mm f1.2 and 85mm f1.4

spherecromatic can be stopper for some ppl, you cannot correct it on post pro in any way.

Hehe... I agree, tested the 24GM but bought the 24 DG DN Art instead. Besides image quality, I just like how the Sigma is designed and build... plus that obnoxious bright red "GM" badge somehow always rubs me the wrong way when I see it... lol

It always drives me mad seeing wet cameras. Sure it's weather sealed, by why go out of your way to find out how good that weather sealing is? Water is poison to an electronic device! Once I was coming out of B&H Photo in Manhattan and it was pouring down rain very hard. Some young guy obviously on his daddy's money was standing right at the edge of the awning where a ton of water was streaming down. He had a super nice flagship Nikon with gallons of water pouring over the camera every minute. I literally cringed. ps wow Kai speaks Japanese?

Maybe because he has confidence in his gear and isn't scared to use it? Why buy gear with weather sealing and then baby it and keep it out of the weather?

I'm a fan of third party lenses, mainly because I'm broke. Also, I'm a really horrible photographer.
