OS on Sigma is mode, not level. mode 1: for general photography Mode 2 for motor sports and other applications requiring panning.

Didn’t find it necessary, works fine on both for my shooting style. I don’t use the tracking feature a lot so not a problem for me.

@@cris_photography For reviewing purposes I think you should. This lens is obviously for people who shoot wildlife mainly so fast and accurate AF is a fact to consider to buy it.

@vukhuat4251 i hear ya and makes sense. The AF is as good as the Fuji lens in my tests - I’d even say a tad better (it’s also icy newer). Thanks for pointing that out and take care

Thanks for rhe SOOC comparison. In another video Fuji was a bit better while in this Sigma 😮. Having Fuji since 2018 and not parting with it. Still have to say the weight, bulk and price of Sigma is desirable 😊

Would a XT30II be too small for these or should I be looking to upgrade the camera ? I was amazed how good the XT30 paired with a 55-250mm can be for wildlife , even heavily crop photos look pretty good so I was thing of getting longer focal length . Great review by the way 👍

Hey there, no I don’t think it’d be too small. The reason being that you attach the actual lens to the tripod so It does matter that much. The sensor is the same so IQ wise same thing. Take care!

Even on my XE2, XF100-400 is fine to handhold. Of course it looks weird. The lens collar mount is what I hold

Just get a handgrip and you will feel a lot less awkwardness with bigger lenses! People really are sleeping on the X-Txx series for the form factor, it is genuinely one of the best travel cameras you can get. Next iteration coming this year will include IBIS and 40mp

I sold my Fuji 100-400. It was an expensive, heavy, and obnoxious beast. I use Fuji's much smaller and excellent 70-300 now. If I ever need more reach, I will definitely get the Sigma.

Fuji 1.4X TC has been said to work well with 70-300.

Bought the Fuji 100-400 2years ago second hand for about 900 bugs. Pretty good Lens so far, but also heavy

Thanks for the reply. I was in the market for a telephoto, so I just ordered the 70-300 a couple of hours before the Sigma was announced! I'm not sure about the hands-on experience of either. I don't have any long lenses now, so I think I'd still prefer the flexibility of the 70-300, but I was wondering what a more experienced person that has hands-on experience thinks about it. @@cris_photography

​@@salarycatthe 70-300 is smaller & lighter. The difference between 300 & 400 isn't as bigg as it sounds. I'll very likely buy the sigma 1. Because of the tripod collar option 2. I prefer the 400mm fl. I think the 70-300 has a slightly better reproduction ratio only really only matters if you like to do near macro photos.

@@ryanbeer5262 right, that’s a good summary. It’s good to know that 300 and 400 aren’t that far. The macro and the size are two main reasons why I’m leaning on the 70-300. If it’s cumbersome to carry I’d often leave it at home, and with 1:2 it’s practically a proper macro lens, like the 60mm is. Also being Fuji ensures longer firmware support, and it’s aps-c optimised.

Can the Fuji tele converter (1.4 & 2x) be used with the Sigma?

For regular AF it’s ok, didn’t test tracking so can’t tell you. But overall pretty snappy

Perhaps I missed it, does the sigma have an aperture ring? I’ll admit the picture quality looked the same between the lenses, but for me the lack of an aperture ring would be a deal breaker. Tx for the video.

Hey there, no - no aperture ring on either Fuji nor Sigma, due to the variable aperture at different focal lengths. Cheers

@@cris_photography The fuji does have an unmarked aperture ring, as said, due to the variable aperture at different focal lengths. It's the slim ring closest to the lens collar as seen in the video( 2:42 )

Un-marked or not aperture ring is exactly the same thing! I mean - come on. What’s the difference? The movement of your wrist vs your fingers? The point of Andy was if there is a MARKED aperture ring - which is useful but having an unmarked one or none is exactly the same thing!

@@cris_photography no it isn’t. Not having any aperture ring means using the camera body to adjust aperture. If you have an unmarked ring on the lens, then the function is controlled by the lens. This can have a notable impact on some Fuji bodies where you have reduced dial and button controls.
