    The older I get, the lighter I want my camera gear . This lens fits right in that category. I have looked at the Tamron, but I like this lens's size and 10mm. What about the sharpness of the two lenses, you might wonder? I'm not a professional, and I don't think my images will get larger than 16x20, but who knows. Great review. Thanks.

    I moved over from DSLR to mirrorless for that exact reason: to travel light. This lens is perfect for my needs and it's cheaper than the competition which is a nice little bonus. I'm not a pixel peeper, and I'm amazed by the IQ from this piece of glass. Sigma did a great job despite some missing features like aperture ring and WR.

    Hi. Thx for the review. When looking at corner sharpness was the lens still focused at the centre? ie if a subject was placed at the corner and focused upon would it appear sharper? (Please note I am questioning my understanding of your review, not its quality! And if I am just revealing my ignorance about focusing then even more apologies. ;-)

  • @cameralabs

    @cameralabs

    It's a good question and apologies as I normally state in my reviews where I focus. For that test I focused in the middle to test for field flatness. Yes, if you focus in the corner, it can be sharper in that area. I sometimes try to include examples of both, but my testing time with this lens was limited.

    Get the a7CR, and you'll have two cameras in one. I have the a7R5 with FF lenses, but I also have apsc lenses for when I'm on a trip and I want to travel small and light. I recently went to a wedding at the grand canyon and because we had so much other stuff I brought only apsc lenses with my a7R5. I brought the Sony 10-20mm f4, Sigma 18-50mm f2.8, and the Sigma 56mm f1.4. The pictures were 26mpx, they turned out great, and the small setup was nice to use.

    @@dalefrolander3583 A7CR is overpriced at 3k unless you're using all its video features. And even then for travel there are better value cameras, many of them apsc or older ff. The viewfinder is poor, even if it's a step up from the awful A7C's. Anyone wanting to use the best full frame lenses can use them on apsc no problem, infact it's even sharper corner to corner because the weakest part of the image circle is cut off.
