SIG TANGO MSR 1-6x | 1-8x | 1-10x | Budget LPVO

Ойын-сауық

www.AmericanLictor.com
I have seen video after video of hate for LPVOs especially budget friendly optics. Even with all that I continue to buy them and try them because they still work best for what I need. I spend money where I believe it does the most for me and this is how you should approach the same subject yourself. Get out and shoot because ammo is where you should dump most of your firearms budget, nobody gets better putting the next Gucci gun together or buying the latest and greatest item. Time behind the weapon is king.

    I run the 1x10 version of this on a 12.5”. At 1x is very nice and while on the range the 10x helps me see my groups. Overkill maybe, but it works.

    This is one thing I think a lot of people ignore. The optic can be over kill and still have alternate purposes. I mostly shoot all 3 of mine on 1x but like having the magnification option available. I'm glad you have the purpose for yours defined and do what works best for yourself.

    Awesome. I was wondering about those. I have a Sig Tango4 1-4x FFP on my son’s AR and it’s nice. I also had a Sig Tango4 3-12x42 (SO4001 I believe) that had the 556/762 reticle. It was a good scope and I regret selling it bc they discontinued it. The glass was good but the main thing for me was the eye box was great. Eye box (or whatever it’s called) is my pet peeve on a magnified optic bc I want to be able to see the reticle in unconventional shooting positions. So far the best LPVO I’ve owned for an eye box was the first gen Leupold VXR Patrol 1.5-4x. I sold it too bc the turrets were exposed and not locking and I had to check the turrets every so often bc they had moved from use.

    I have put 3 of these on my rifles to start working them and finding out what I like and don't like. For the price these are really good to me and I refuse to believe that everyone should budget an optic that is $1.5k+. Every optic has its place and everyone also sits behind their rifle differently and manipulate it differently. I'm a fan of LPVOs because my reasoning for them is to reduce my dependencies on batteries with a 1x option.

    My follow up video to this one will be more beneficial to you as I will run some drills switching out each rifle so I can see the difference in eye relief and clarity. If I can get it edited I hope to drop it right after this one.

    Cool. Yeah I have two scoped rifles right now. My 16” AR15 has a Trijicon Credo 1-6x FFP which is pretty good for less than $1k. My 16” AR10 has a March Tactical 3-24x42 FFP. The March is sick but it cost more than my gun lol. The rest of my guns are Eotechs and Aimpoint PROs. All of my guns have back up irons for any optic failure. I had a battery die on an Aimpoint PRO in the middle of a barricade with a suspect and it just shut off without warning. I switched to Eotech bc the battery life isn’t as good but the Eotech will blink when you turn it on to indicate 20% battery life remaining. So far one battery in my duty rifle with the Eotech had lasted since February and it gets deployed several times a week.

    1-6 will do most everything you need and is the most forgiving on eye relief. The 1-8 is just a bit worse on eye relief. 1-6 is cheaper as well from what I remember.

    Just got the Sig 1-6 for Christmas. After watching your video and another, I want to do a 36 yd zero (could never do 50 anyway because my range is only 130 ft). Another comment you said the BDC wouldn't help with the holdovers. Can you explain that more? Would you have to figure out your own holds based on your own data? I heard people complaining this BDC didn't line up well. Thank you in advance.

  • @X9Unsponsored

    @X9Unsponsored

    7 ай бұрын

    Yeh, the holdovers are generally for like 100 yards zeros or something like that. With 36-yard zero being good to 300 yards roughly, you would want to get your own data for past that. The one thing you can still use them for is estimating distances when the BDC reticle. One day, if I can get to a long enough range, I would like to see what the reticle does myself.

    I think you're kind of misunderstanding the powers of the optics compared to just barrel length and velocity. Yes, barrel length affects velocity, just like grain and caliber but not as much as the difference between the viewing distance of those differences in optics. Any 1-6 is perfectly fine for a 5.56 caliber. I run a 1-8 tango on an ar-15 just to be able to distinguish, not zero at 1000 yards, 1-10 is pretty crazy for an ar-15, maybe on an ar-10. You're not hitting one inch groups with a 5.56 at 1000yds, I don't care who you are.
