this game is so fast paced that replaying the levels isn’t annoying at all, it never drags on or feels tedious, you are ALWAYS fighting and bettering your skills as you go. the only ball they dropped is the voice acting (imo) i would've LOVED some Cantonese voice acting just as an option, or at the very least make the English 80s-dub corny/goofy obviously this game isn't about much other than gameplay, but a better voice cast would've really pushed it over the edge into greatness

  • @JackHarlowComboMeal

    @JackHarlowComboMeal

    2 жыл бұрын

@@Kadeo-ms6qw It's not as finely customizable as Absolver. You're not picking every move to use in a combo string. Apologies for the long explanation coming. There's a fair number of preset combos (Square, Square, Triangle. Square, Square, Square, Triangle, etc). You're free to switch targets during the combos as well. There's a few stick/button moves like Down, Up, Triangle. There's also "Focus Attacks" that are done by holding L2 and selecting a node. A lot of moves will also have effects, like knocking an enemy away from you, taking them down to the ground, or stunning them. You can unlock a lot more moves through the skill tree. Charge attacks, ground counters. more Focus Attacks. And then there's guarding/dodging/weave-dodging/parrying. I'm sorry, the game has a lot.

  • @generic4419

@@Kadeo-ms6qw it's more in the moment strategizing than before hand like in absolver. I'd call it a more hands on experience and would definitely recommend. Is definitely challenging but I'm looking forward to becoming better. It's a different type of journey for sure. It's more like how you get better over time as super smash bros than how you unlock better moves in absolver even though it does have that unlocking aspect

I hated playing through this game at first because I haven't played any fighting games that included brutal difficulty like Sifu. But I kinda screwed myself to the point where I was an old man on the Museum level, and forcing myself to replay it over and over again kinda forced me to get better at it. I ended up restarting, and I got to the Museum level at age 35 instead of 65. Sifu is a game I now have a newfound love and appreciation for. It's one of my favorite games of 2022 so far.

As a contribution to this vid, I think it's very important that the developers actually cared to respect the martial art. I've practiced Kung Fu for the last ten years, and I recognoize each and every move the character and enemies do. Of course, as it is a game, the combat is dramatized. But the techniques are real. Haven't played yet and I already love it!

I love how I can play the exact same level for 2 hours straight and still not be bored; The fighting mechanic is literally awesome and crazy and amazing; What I like about this game is the crazy amount of focus you need, you cant just go about spamming light and heavy attacks thinking its going to do the job, sometime you have to use your focus bar, sometimes you have to use palm strike to disarm your enemies , sometimes you sweep to get that extra ground damage, sometimes you have to dodge or parry ; Its just so amazing. Also, the fact that you replay the same level over and over, makes you think about the moves you should unlock at the skill tree like "oh I'm gonna use Environmental Mastery to beat big guys easier", or "I'm gonna use Ground Parry so that I can always defend myself". This Game is probably gonna be unmatched at GOTY, the only competition I'm seeing right now is GOW5: Ragnarok

I love the fact that your moves actually occupy space in the physical world of the game. You throw a roundhouse that one guy dodged but it collides with a different guy who was not the target of the attack? Dude still takes the hit and is on the floor. Enemy throws a bottle but his bud steps in the way and the bottle collides with his buds model? Yeah no, that bottle hits his bud instead of you and damages and stuns him. I have never played a game that did so well of tracking movements and making things react realistically. Even games where you wield giant swords that look like they should body 6 guys in one swing will just hit the one guy you targeted even if it passes through 4 others on the way.

@@Malouco both are great games, sifu feels a bit more fast paced at times. I do like how much of the environment you can interact with, Sleeping dogs and Yakuza both came to mind. Streets of rage too. The level design/graphics are both pretty enticing and do lend themselves to a somewhat cinematic experience. I got mad daredevil and samurai jack vibes at a couple points and it heighten my enjoyment. The replayability is almost like that of a mobile game with a pretty short loop, thankfully the grind, scenery, secrets, and everything help fill it out and make it feel like a full game. If you enjoyed sleeping dogs I think you'd enjoy sifu as well.

The devs said on launch they won't have it but in the future [Whatever that might be] they will implement it. So buying this game is not worth it personally and for other people who want to enjoy a good campaign without being too difficult. I bet the devs did this to see how many people will buy it and if it's below their expectations they definitely implement it in an update. Also Returnal hasn't a difficulty mode and it was quickly forgotten and they instead put an update having photo mode and suspension mode.

These indie games really are great not just because their prime directive is to make something enjoyable, but because they are also priced a lot more reasonably. It’s shocking how much games cost outside of the US, and $70 USD for some next gen games can come out to double that in other countries. Indie games can get a broader reach and audience and in this day and age we see small teams (sometimes just one person) create games that make the Titans in the industry laughable.

Kind of like a sim racer in that you either figure out the right braking + turn-in to a turn or your losing position or in to a wall. Some might say it has the "souls" like grind but that would be a watered down. Played a few hours yesterday and enjoyed my time but also hit a wall pretty quick of what Jake says in you really need to master sections/levels before moving on. The unlock tree could use some massaging just in terms of why is everything so high priced imo. It is those moments of there you clear an area without being touched just to get without-mercy crushed in the very next section. I could use a little more varied enemy interaction its either 2-3 enemies or 7-8 - which is daunting to the say the least. Still trying to get my blocking/dodge down as well as get out of the Club level. Cheers

Got the game on early access, and good God, this game so far has ended up being EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Challenging combat that tests your reflexes/move knowledge/situational awareness, beautiful animation work, kickass environments to bust your way through, and a simple efficient story that pushes you and the combat forward. The game runs perfect for the most part (frame drops when transitioning to new areas, but quickly fixes itself), and there's incentive for me to replay all the levels and get better and learn more. LOVING the game. Sloclap has delivered for me 👍👊

@@allenphillip_man623 No alternative skins or outfits of that sort. The protagonist's outfit DOES change as you age in the game from dying. Young Sifu (Age 20 - 40(?) maybe?) has a black tank top and a red sash around his waist. Older Man Sifu (Age 40(?) - 75) has a long-sleeve Tang jacket (with the fasteners down the middle.) EDIT: Sifu's hair also changes as he ages, from a tied-up man bun to some kickass grey locks. He grows facial hair by about 24 - 25, and that gets longer and grey as you age too.

Its kind like a fighting game mixed with a Dark Souls type mercilessness. You have to master the controls, and they are far more complex than "swing sword" & "dodge roll".....but you have to have the motivation to keep playing the same sections over and over until you do master the controls. It will be far too tedious for most people. Its a very well done game, but its a very specific experience. Im glad to see unique ideas come to fruition, and have such care put into them. Its something we dont see in video games industry enough, these days.....especially with the AAA developers in North America. So, although Sifu is probably a pretty niche game, and not for me -- im delighted to see it out there being received so well.

It’s not really like souls in any way. But it does have elements of Sekiro in it, mainly the rhythm and countering. Also, it’s a common misconception that dark souls games are super “merciless”. Pretty much every game made in the 90s or before was harder than dark souls. Games just got so easy that if you actually die people will compare it to dark souls

The way it's all put together, definitely unique. It does share the grind and perfectionism mentality with Furi, though. Definitely reminds me of that game at least. But it goes beyond adding fodder to the boss encounters. Then again, you could argue Furi was even more about perfectionism and pure player skill. No EXP, no upgrades, nothing. If you beat it, increase the difficulty, go again.

I've been playing it all night last night, and I ended up getting to the 3rd level, but I found my age too far, so I started redoing the early levels to try and bring my age down more. I can get through the first zone with no deaths and the second zone with 3 to 4 deaths. Honestly it's the last two that get me, the two disciples before the main boss of zone 2. i hate them so much and cannot get passed there without dying a couple of times. The boss itself is easy once you know his attack pattern. dodge dodge dodge dodge attack attack. I used the shrine to put points into the focus regain which fills up the focus bar as you avoid. And then low sweep kick to put in extra posture damage. This game gives me mad Sekiro vibes and Sekiro is one of my favorite games of all time. Games that just test out your reflexes are *finger kiss*
