I replaced the rear lock actuator thinking it wouldn't sense it was latched ... wish I saw this video first! Thanks for making saved me hundreds more by not taking it in to get looked at.

Glad it worked for you. In my final solution I used a long, very light gauge spring -- should outlast the rubber band. God is good.

ABSOLUTE LIFE SAVER!!! Worked on my 2016 Toyota sienna XLE door. That was the problem. Great video. Will probably replace the door latch later. Probably one of the major problems with these doors

Besides the rubber band, did you have to lubricate the cable?

I did not try to lubricate the cable, maybe that would have solved the problem. I did substitute a long, very light gauge spring for the rubber band... purchased at Lowe's, and the door continues to work great.

what a pain, mine sometimes do not want close at all just stay wide open.
