..." one has to let go of any conditioning..." is not the prescription of a practice by a master also a conditioning? I do not ask this from a merely theoretical standpoint. I have received a mantra practice which indicates "I am bramha", and so far, I cannot rid myself of an egocentered identification with it. (It is not bramha that remains, but an "I" which asserts his being bramha)

That teacher that is the feeling of what it is to be myself inside. This is the best that I suggest to people, when they ask me what to do. I say to go inside. To go in there, and find yourself. To find you that is simply the feeling of being you. The feeling that was there when you were a kid. The feeling that you had before you were named. Before you were boy or girl.
