I'm from Nigeria. I not very fluent in Tamil. But the guy sang the song really absolute and fantastic. The instrument music is very clean as his voice is much more clean. Sweet voice. Talented guy

The comment of Great Ranga Ramanuja Iyengar on katcheri Sampradaya, brought out by Ariyakkudi will be an useful read for you!And please remember that the idea called classicism is always a cooked up dish by the dominant class in the field and projected to the past!I was just imagining how it would have been if Great Dhanammal commented of these katcheri performances.Its all a hoax dude..

We can count classically well trained singers on fingers these days. Sid is always one of them. And this makes me feel so good and his voice is amazing and unique.

I'm a bengali guy. My mom used to play Harmonium and from my childhood I followed her. I play guitar now at the age of 32 since many years. And I feel your basics are so important to make your ear and throat perfect for classical. I am up for this anytime. Sid Sriram is a talent box with jazz, rock, groove, classical and what not. India's asset.

When Sid started Maruvaarthai, I was wondering how the team is going to manage the beat pattern, because the original song has a structured rhythmic pattern. But the musicians lifted the song on a whole new level. As we all know Sid is always amazing performer but the musicians pulled it off very well.

Great. Evolving..also music history..Tamil Pan or Isai or music ( Iyal, Isai and nadagam) is the recorded earliest music in India. Silapathigaram ( also 2000years back in Tholkappium, Natrinai, kurunthogai and others) authored by Ilango Adigal around 500CE (1500 years ago) gives a perfect description about Classical Music. Is it not amazing that somebody in the Tamizh land defined all these as early as the 5th century? In just one verse, he gives the names of the seven swaras as per Tamizh PaN. குரலே, துத்தம், கைக்கிளை, உழையே இளியே, விளரி, தாரம் என்றிவை எழுவகை இசைக்கும் (Swaptha Swaram) எய்தும் பெயரே சவ்வும் (Sa) ரிவ்வும் (Ri) கவ்வும் (Ka) மவ்வும் (Ma) பவ்வும் (Pa) தவ்வும் (Tha) நிவ்வும் (Ni) என்றிவை ஏழும் அவற்றின் எழுத்தே ஆகும் Sa-Kural; Ri-Thuththam;Ga-KaikkiLai;Ma-Uzhai;Pa-ILi;Dha-ViLari;Ni- Tharam. In another verse, he says PaNs(Ragams) are obtained by arranging the 12 Kovais(swaras) in a specified structure in the ascending and descending scale. Sa-Kural; Ri-Thuththam;Ga-KaikkiLai;Ma-Uzhai;Pa-ILi;Dha-ViLari;Ni- Tharam. Purantharadasa (1500 CE, 500yrs back) a devotee of Vishnu, contributed enormously to further perfect the Tamil Pan as carnatic music and all others iincluding Mumoorthys are followers of Tamil Pan transformed ( name changed) to Carnatic music and further added their kirthana.

At least change the name of the programme. திருவையாறு is always associated with Saint Tyagaraja,vwhose Rama bhakti is unparalleled! You can jollywell sing film songs as all these songs are also raga based, but the stage is not right for this! Nothing to 'grow up' here!

We all considering ourselves krishnabhaktas is all fine, but this is not the stage and the name for it! This is not a TV show where he is discussing abt Carnatic music influence in Tamil cinema! I still feel the name shd be something like 'chennayil tollywood' or some such thing!
