Some people talk about Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms as though it is some sacred, hallowed text but it is not. It is a couple of scraps of paper that our Supreme Court Justices routinely ignore whenever they feel like it. If our SC Justices can interpret something to be unconstitutional then they can equally interpret something to be constitutional. It is morally repugnant that activist Judges can ignore society's call for justice to be done and to be seen to be done.

Well, it was written by the stupidest man to ever be PM in Canada, and solely to enshrine Liberal values into every institution in the country. Plus, it holds a clause which basically allows any section to be sidestepped any time in conflicts with what a government wishes to do that infringes rights.

The problem is are demographics has increased drastically in a short period of time to the point where are jail system is over capacitated. It costs the system alot of money to house criminals. Canada's view is rehabilitation model 1st over corpal punishment in comparison to other countries. The problem is finding a good balance when dealing with crime. Canada is bit too soft I think.

So does the PM think a man or woman convicted of multiple murders should be released after a 25 year sentence, or doesn't he??? That all those convicted of multiple murders are able to be rehabilitated back into society without being a threat after coming out of prison for 25 yrs? And, is it 25 yrs? What about 2 for 1 pretrial or dead time that is considered at time of sentencing? What does it mean to be a multiple murderer, then rehabilitated, and then released back into society? This PM doesn't rebut the Conservative opposition leaders claims. No, the PM doesn't rebuttal the opposition's stance with evidence, but spins his own narrative, like someone who never even listened to another's concern or argument to begin with. I long to witness a logical debate one day between the liberals and conservatives, for the better of all Canadians... to be mentors and leaders Canadian children can look up to. What I'm seeing today is absolute bonkers, clouds with no water, no substance...and I'm a GED grad 😵‍💫😊😁

Sid , stay in your lane , it appears as though your evangelical pulpit has been brought to an arena that doesn’t require your opinion. Someone as privileged as yourself, now feeling it necessary to inject what your sense of justice is, when the true fact is, that criminal justice isn’t the only kind of justice out there, it’s one of many. Maybe whilst we’re at it , we should use the “ notwistanding clause “ when it comes to a whole range of issues. Issues like poverty, homelessness, food insecurity ? It’s a slippery slope when you start advocating on behalf of a politician that flirted with the Freedom Convoy. Sid , can i be quite frank with you( no pun intended) ? The world is already screwed up enough , don’t join the chorus of singers complaining and demonizing what they see is an injustice because to another person, your life is paradise in comparison, as a person with a hell of a lot more privilege than most people. Stay in your lane, keep it lite, sunny, cheery. 🇨🇦✌🏼🇨🇦✌🏼🇨🇦

Yes I agree with this extreme situation of multiple murderers and increasing their life sentences, but not by using the not-with-standing clause. Create legislation that doesn't override our constitution for one social problem. The point of government and a strong leader is to know how to create strong legislation without ripping apart our constitution. We don't have an issue in Canada with multiple murders on a weekly basis that we need to change the use of our constitution. Drama queen.
