Siberian tiger are way more endangered and their lower number, lack of common prey in many areas, and poor genetic diversity have been reduced their average size and huge alpha males are way less common comparing to the mid XX century...

@@funkyboy1190 Siberian Tiger habitat is not good, they dont have enough food in the snow, that why smaller. On four legs, Siberian Tiger is shorter than Lion, but if in term of body lenght, Tiger is 1.5 times larger than lion, so you can only know if they stand up with two legs.

Having been a zookeeper and cared for both lions and tigers I am a fan of both. I appreciate each for their respective distinct qualities. But I regret having been unable to see them in the wild. I took care of cheetahs too. Tigers are more beautiful; lions have more interesting behavior.

An African lion may be having a winner's mentality, courage, more stamina;etc but the net strength of an equal-sized siberian tiger will always be more. Moreover, at least on equal terms, a tiger is never incapable of facing a lion, even a coward one. Capability and attitude are two different things.

@speed999-uj5kr firstly there is absolutely no evidence that the tigers killed the bear themselves, what condition or age the bear was that the tiger consumed. The rumours of tiger kills are of adolescent bears and sows. These were through ambush and by large male tigers that specialised in bear kills. Again no large male bears. A hyena has a diet % of lion but that doesn't mean it killed it.

I've been to this sanctuary. They have 30 tigers and a couple of lions. Apparently it used to be a private collection and they are now looked after by volunteers. The sanctuary goes through 300kg of meat a day - quite often supermarket chicken, but also when a local farmer has an old horse or donkey...

This tiger looks almost twice the size of a Bengal tiger. He may weigh close to 650-700 lbs. The Siberian tiger is the largest in the world. One has to see a person next to it to fathom its true size. Massive animal, the woman is dwarfed by it and the size of its head is impressive. It rivals that of a large brown bear.

@@shriharihudli oh man. another ignorant newb defending his sacred indian mascot. read clyde beatty and learn something about the subject. but its not just him. all the mixed cat circus trainers in history (ie the actual experts) say the same thing. the lion is completely dominant over the tiger. there are many lions in history that have killed multiple male tigers in one on one fights. read about 'the big cage' filming where 3 tigers were killed by a lion. the lion is simply a much better fighter. why do you think they have manes. its not to look pretty. why do you think they back bite. its because their frontage is so well protected. if a lion fights a tiger he will occasionally break its back and the tiger does not even know whats happening as they dont fight like lions. the lion has plenty of other advantages. they have much greater aggression, spatial awareness (because lions need to dominate several lioness or fight coalitions), will to dominate (the pride), endurance (2nd fastest cat..they chase down prey over longer distances than other big cats) heat tolerance (lions are tropical while the tiger evolved in the north)etc. tigers just dont really stand a chance. once their initial ferocious attack is brushed aside by the lion (who is built like a brick shit house) they have very little left in the tank while the lion has just got started. luckily for most tigers they know to submit and the lion will usually let him live. they can live together in a cage as long as a pecking order is formed. lions are at the top, always.

They are utterly amazing. There are not many animals that can compete with a full grown, healthy tiger one on one. Hippos, certain bears, elephants, etc. are some of he animals that can do battle with a tiger, but man, tigers are incredible.

There have been bears that way over 2,000 pounds on record. Polar bears and Kodiak bears many times weigh over 1,000 pounds. No one is suggesting that it would be an easy fight but claiming that there are no bears in the world that can kill a Siberian or Bengal tiger doesn't sound correct.

really. the siberian tiger specifically? surely you mean the tiger species in general. i suppose if the siberian tiger is the basal tiger, that all other tiger races decended from, it could be the closest to the lesser cats, which include the african wild cat (the domestic cat isnt a species). personally, if i'd wrote your comment i'd have said the tiger is closest evolutionarily to the lesser cats. and leave out the domestic cat bit as that is implied by lesser cat grouping. as it looks more scientific.

Actually, wild African cats, and wild European cats are the closest relatives to domestic cats. The African Wild Cat, is the closest living relative to the domestic cat. Tigers and Snow Leopards, are the closest relatives to each other. And tigers are far more distantly related to African/Asian cats like lions, true leopards, and jaguars. And as far as big cats go, domestic cats are more closely related to pumas/mountain lions, than any other big cat.

Siberian tiger are way more endangered and their lower number, lack of common prey in many areas, and poor genetic diversity have been reduced their average size and huge alpha males are way less common comparing to the mid XX century...

@@funkyboy1190 Siberian Tiger habitat is not good, they dont have enough food in the snow, that why smaller. On four legs, Siberian Tiger is shorter than Lion, but if in term of body lenght, Tiger is 1.5 times larger than lion, so you can only know if they stand up with two legs.

In captivity the Siberians are more bigger but in wild bengal tigers are bigger.
When you have owned a domestic cat at say 10 pounds and seen what he can do to you, you really appreciate how powerful these tigers must be.
Having been a zookeeper and cared for both lions and tigers I am a fan of both. I appreciate each for their respective distinct qualities. But I regret having been unable to see them in the wild. I took care of cheetahs too. Tigers are more beautiful; lions have more interesting behavior.

An African lion may be having a winner's mentality, courage, more stamina;etc but the net strength of an equal-sized siberian tiger will always be more. Moreover, at least on equal terms, a tiger is never incapable of facing a lion, even a coward one. Capability and attitude are two different things.

Yeah some say tigers eat bears. However a male grizzly still dwarfs this huge tiger. They are absolute beasts. Only other carnivore that can compete would be a polar bear

@speed999-uj5kr firstly there is absolutely no evidence that the tigers killed the bear themselves, what condition or age the bear was that the tiger consumed. The rumours of tiger kills are of adolescent bears and sows. These were through ambush and by large male tigers that specialised in bear kills. Again no large male bears. A hyena has a diet % of lion but that doesn't mean it killed it.

I've been to this sanctuary. They have 30 tigers and a couple of lions. Apparently it used to be a private collection and they are now looked after by volunteers. The sanctuary goes through 300kg of meat a day - quite often supermarket chicken, but also when a local farmer has an old horse or donkey...

This tiger looks almost twice the size of a Bengal tiger. He may weigh close to 650-700 lbs. The Siberian tiger is the largest in the world. One has to see a person next to it to fathom its true size. Massive animal, the woman is dwarfed by it and the size of its head is impressive. It rivals that of a large brown bear.

males average 400lb. no bigger than african lion or bengal tiger. if there was a lion here it would destroy this tiger. lions are always dominant over tigers and kill them easily.

@@shriharihudli oh man. another ignorant newb defending his sacred indian mascot. read clyde beatty and learn something about the subject. but its not just him. all the mixed cat circus trainers in history (ie the actual experts) say the same thing. the lion is completely dominant over the tiger. there are many lions in history that have killed multiple male tigers in one on one fights. read about 'the big cage' filming where 3 tigers were killed by a lion. the lion is simply a much better fighter. why do you think they have manes. its not to look pretty. why do you think they back bite. its because their frontage is so well protected. if a lion fights a tiger he will occasionally break its back and the tiger does not even know whats happening as they dont fight like lions. the lion has plenty of other advantages. they have much greater aggression, spatial awareness (because lions need to dominate several lioness or fight coalitions), will to dominate (the pride), endurance (2nd fastest cat..they chase down prey over longer distances than other big cats) heat tolerance (lions are tropical while the tiger evolved in the north)etc. tigers just dont really stand a chance. once their initial ferocious attack is brushed aside by the lion (who is built like a brick shit house) they have very little left in the tank while the lion has just got started. luckily for most tigers they know to submit and the lion will usually let him live. they can live together in a cage as long as a pecking order is formed. lions are at the top, always.

They are utterly amazing. There are not many animals that can compete with a full grown, healthy tiger one on one. Hippos, certain bears, elephants, etc. are some of he animals that can do battle with a tiger, but man, tigers are incredible.

@@johnwdaley4727 When you say "Fact", where are you getting your "facts" from? Does that mean a Kodiak bear or Polar bear cannot kill a Siberian tiger or Bengal tiger?? There have been bears that way over 2,000 pounds on record. Polar bears and Kodiak bears many times weigh over 1,000 pounds. No one is suggesting that it would be an easy fight but claiming that there are no bears in the world that can kill a Siberian or Bengal tiger doesn't sound correct.

Teeth 3.5 inches, athletic ability, claws that can grab, muscle much denser than bear, use hind legs & claws, not an omnivore, jump over bear if needed, killer intelligence, ..l have seen legitimate videos of Russian bears being killed & eaten by tiger...

Даже в англоязычных источниках дальневосточный подвид называют Siberian tiger или Amur tiger. Так что тигр - наш. И леопард наш. P.S. really. the siberian tiger specifically? surely you mean the tiger species in general. i suppose if the siberian tiger is the basal tiger, that all other tiger races decended from, it could be the closest to the lesser cats, which include the african wild cat (the domestic cat isnt a species). personally, if i'd wrote your comment i'd have said the tiger is closest evolutionarily to the lesser cats. and leave out the domestic cat bit as that is implied by lesser cat grouping. as it looks more scientific.

Actually, wild African cats, and wild European cats are the closest relatives to domestic cats. The African Wild Cat, is the closest living relative to the domestic cat. Tigers and Snow Leopards, are the closest relatives to each other. And tigers are far more distantly related to African/Asian cats like lions, true leopards, and jaguars. And as far as big cats go, domestic cats are more closely related to pumas/mountain lions, than any other big cat.

The Siberian Tiger and the Barbary Lion are definitely my top favorite animals. It makes me feel so sad that these animals are so rare in the wild. I seriously thank God for having them in zoos through out the world

The Barbary lion is already completely extinct. Amur (Siberian) tigers are very slowly, but increasing in numbers, thanks to the protection program, there are more of them. Hello from Russia!
