Siargao Lockdown Day 6 - Impressed With The Filipino People
March 23rd 2020 - It's Day 6 of the Siargao Island Philippines Lockdown and the emergency protocols are officially still restricting movement. But in reality the police and army checkpoints have eased off and the locals have told us that we can now venture outside a little bit.
We took the opportunity to take the Tuk Tuk for a drive to get some supplies from the local shops in the village and report on how it feels to be out during this Covid-19 Lockdown.
Since arriving in the Philippines we have been very impressed with the Filipino people and the way they have coped with this crisis so far. Despite being a little shaken up by the mandatory lockdown movement and police checks, we understand why they are important for these little islands to remain virus free.
It's also very impressive how the Filipino people have almost completely banned single use plastics and know how to live self sufficiently by growing their own food and running small local businesses within the community. Nothing is being panic bought or hoarded here on the island of Siargao and we feel very safe and happy to have been stranded here, rather than anywhere else.
It was nice to be out today and see things ticking over calmly. We had a few warnings about snakes reappearing on the island due to there being less people around. And we heard our favourite bird the Asian Koel calling for the first time since we left Thailand.
We are feeling good today!
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 6. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.
Watch the Siargao Island Lockdown Playlist here: • 🇵🇭 Philippines LOCKDOW...
We will be updating it day by day.

I have found that Filipino people are some of the nicest most friendly people you will run in to and overall are a happy group and very welcoming..L.A Rob

Well I'm a filipina I think there's always something different in any race we're just like normally nice to everyone, it's like treat others nicely so they treat you nice as well like in the golden rule "don't do to others what you don't want to do to you " that quote I always hear when I was young 😄

Little Moana of the Siargao Philippines. Your daughter is so lovable kids.
When you walk in the grass, stamp your feet from time to time. The snakes will feel the stronger vibrations and will tend to move away and hide until the big heavy creature that made them goes away. Most snakebites happen when the snake is surprised and bites in reflex because the victim is too close to move away from.

You guys got sooo lucky to get stranded in such a beautiful place. That view and scenery, the way you get food and the place your staying seems to repel the panic factor of a pandemic. Looking at your video relaxes me and makes me feel as if there isnt even a coronavirus sweeping across the land.

@Ganda Gandara I think he meant the virus from the trees, not virus found in a person. It is a common scientific practice. Even the government endorses killing trees infected with virus this way (burning it) as a safe disposal method. And two for one, it can also be used as firewood for outdoor cooking.
@ethtaMC198

Or maybe what he meant by "bugs" are insects that damage the trees' leaves and fruits. Could be for plant virus too tho

Wow...a beautiful family with a cute and smart daughter
Nice to see you guys are doing well. You're actually lucky to be stuck in an island. Siargao is quite self sustaining so there should be no shortage of food and there's a lot of sari-sari stores for basic goods. Times like these you get to enjoy the simpler things in life and I love your channel for showing that. Stay safe and stay well, looking forward to your next video.
Your daughter is so adorable and sweet 😍 and I really love both the tone of your voices when sharing your stories kinda genuine and angelic😊

Made me smile when she said, "I am Moana!" So adorable.
so much love the philippines. your family be gonna safe there surely..
Story is very conversant. It's very evident that you spend a lot of time with her, which is always good. She puts a smile to every person's face be it in person or the vid. I make it a point to submerge the money I got from the sellers in disinfectant solution and let it air dry. As for fruits and veggies, peel theouter layer first before consuming (apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc). Washing ain't gonna do anything to keep it off....or submerge in rolling boiling water for 5-10 seconds if u really do want to eat the skin. Packs and cans of grocery items, wash it with soap and water before storing.
Lovely couple, what a cute daughter you both have... Feel Safe to stay in Siargao The 🇵🇭...
Your daughter is adorable. Hope you guys have a safe stay in Siargao. God bless.
We've been making your bean chili each week and eating it over potato wedges like chili fries❣️ Thanks for all the hard work you put into making it❣️
So glad to feel how your spirits have risen. You truly are very lucky to be stuck where you are. Perhaps not the best financial option, but your purse will recover quite well soon enough. Enjoy the wonderful gift you’ve been given. ✌️

betacrest10 Palawan is also 100% virus free. We are very strict here on abiding by the regulations of the quarantine to keep it that way. But unfortunately foreigners like this seem to think laws don’t apply to them. And they are finding out the hard way that there are penalties for trying to avoid checkpoints. Seeing the disrespect it’s really insulting.
Thank you for supporting our local farmers.
Its so nice to watch your video that you enjoyed a lot staying philippines. I enjoyed how your daughter spoke.

There is a doctor there. You just have to go to the Municipal Health Office of the Town of General Luna if needed. Snakes are cold blooded animals so they do not go to hot areas (specially on open spaces with plenty of sunlight). They usually stay in cool areas (holes, caves) away from sunlight. Stay positive, healthy and be happy. You are in the paradise.
