A lot of people don't know that this song was written on a night she tried to commit suicide using valium and vodka. She was saved by a phone call from an old friend who convinced her to get sober. The soul must feel before it can create this sort of masterpiece.

It pretty much sums up human emotion, although each of us being different how we manage our emotions we can get through hard times. Your kind words are worth way more than 1 percent my friend... and again I thank you for even taking the time to respond. This song is so powerful and helps to clense my heart and soul. And Im familiar with the fact that she has written alot of hit songs for many of the biggest artist. Now.. I dig Elastic Heart and maybe a couple more but one day I found this song and was blown away. Not only her delivery but the lyrics are a real gut punch. Especially for someone whos gone in the head. I actually first heard it at the end of a Luther episode. Then I found a live performance of it that u gotta see if u like this one. She has on a pink sweater on that hangs to her knees. Anyway if u like this one I bet u will LOVE that one. Its unbelievable. Everything about it. One side note, the drummer gives her a beautiful very nuanced back up on the vocals which was just perfect. Enjoy friend

I really wish I could have seen her live at this point of her life. I like her newer songs as well and every songa brings another feeling with it, but this era of Sia just feels so raw and special, totally unfiltered and simply put real. I don't want to sound spiritual (because I am actually not) but I can't explain it other than that her old songs connect with the souls on a deeper level.

And something you can truly only understand if you've been that close to suicide. And all the frenetic energy in the music alongside it is just perfectly done. I'll bet all the musicians there can't help but get swept up and lost in it. Taking part in something like that must be a transcendental experience. One hell of a ride going there and then coming back down to Earth afterwards.

What we need more than anything is to accept ourselves entirely, flaws and all. Like the air that sustains life on earth, we all need to breathe self-love into our souls.

We also need to re-learn to accept each others flaws. We've become a society that won't tolerate anothers point of view and will , in fact, oppose it at every opportunity (but only by KZread or Twitter of course) Anyone that finds faults with you is probably trying to cover up their own. I truely believe that nobody (or no thing) has anymore right to be on this Earth than anything else.

This song holds me and wraps me up when I feel small and worthless. It’s ok to be sad, it’s ok to feel down and out. We all are human. I hope you feel better too and know that you don’t have to give up. I love you and want you to love yourself. You’re never alone. Life may take you in places you don’t love, but eventually you’ll find yourself and love where you are.

It is so awesome to watch her just sit there and sing. It brings out such a unique beauty that one rarely sees in performers. So often so much makeup and costumes but here it is just her in her natural physical beauty and her gift from God voice.

Timeless. I know she's a house hold name now; but the music she made in her early career is nothing short of magic. Pre-Amy and Adele, the collaborations with Zero 7 - just sound better with time. This track was the most fitting farewell to THE best television series in history. Saying goodbye to the Fisher family in Six Feet Under, I still visualise Claire driving away when I hear it. That series, this track and circumstances in which she wrote it teach us that life isn't meant to be easy or 'good' - it's a journey, a ride, a musical instrument that needs to be played. We are here for soul's growth and evolution and even when life is kicking the sh*t out of me, I'm grateful for my experience - I hope you all have something to be grateful for.....even if it's just our mutual appreciation of this track ❤

thinking the same thing. I found out who she was from six feet under, long before she became a pop star. Her early work prior to the fame are nothing short of masterpieces. I wish she would have stayed creating from this depth... Still I do enjoy all of Sia!

Sia is sadly unknown by many people of her song writing skills. Her Ballads are beautiful! Sad but also uplifting and hopeful and positive. She has written so many songs and I look forward to all her new songs in the future! Sia please keep that rawness that a lot of musicians tend to lose over time!

Since the first time I heard and watched the Chandelier video, in 2014, I wanted to know who Sia was... "one sensitive soul recognizes another immediately". She clearly demonstrates that she is a neurodiverse person. So much so that in addition to choosing Maddie, she also made a point of letting Maddie choose all the dance, everything. And then Elastic Heart, Cheap Thrills, among many others. Sia sings with her soul, puts life into her songs and I really thank God that she managed to win and transform her sad stories into such beautiful songs. Lov u Sia.

@@kennethrusI wouldn’t say it’s a mistake, she actually made that decision because she got frightened of facing an audience at a point in her career. Even though she was late to covering her face she still decided to do it because she wanted to remain unknown and let her voice send the message for itself. Not only that but she feels better and more confident when she covers her face, she doesn’t have to worry about the consequences of how the audience feels until she ends off the song and gets a reaction. She misses the audience but at the same time she understands that her performance matters more.
