The recent 3 episodes with Suraj yengde, Kannan Gopinathan and P Sainath have been really resourceful, having read P.Sainath’s book “Everybody loves a good drought” and Suraj’s book “Caste matters”. These are the kind of people we need on podcasts to really understand the idea of India.

My conversion from bhakt to liberal was triggered due to SUYK episode with Kanhaiya and Umar. I was like, they don't seem anywhere close to their portrayal in pop media. How I wish I can strap my family to watch some of these episodes. You have outdone yourself multiple times, this was one of those. Was such a pleasure and heartache at the same time to go through this episode.

I listened to Sainath Sir as a student at St Xavier's College, Mumbai in 2014 at Malhar Conclave. His truth bombs made me almost cry then and they still do. If you want to help him anyway, donate to PARI!

This Episode moved me to Tears. Especially when Mr. Sainath was talking about the Freedom Struggle. The way P.Sainath speaks, with such passion and conviction while being eloquent, erudite, and factual. He is, truly one of few remaining gold standards of Journalism in India.

Kunal... this has been so far the best episode. I was so engrossed watching, listening, understanding... I waited for the interview to get over to mention.

Talking about education again the protesting farmers were anti Coporatization (Adani) of the farm laws. Very educated mindset, that's my opinion. Well done farmers!!!

Listening to P Sainath is always a pleasure and a huge learning experience. Thanks Kunal for filling the void the conventional media has left.

Fun fact: He is the grandson of a Bharath Rathna and a former President of India (V.V. Giri). It's likely he had the resources to have a comfortable life but yet he chose to fight for the weakest in our society, rare to see such great people who not just talk but live their life with ideals.

My first exposure to P. Sainath sir is through his book Everybody Loves a Good Drought. Thanks Kunal for arranging this interview with him. I'm from Purulia and a proud Purulian. Hearing about our district's history in freedom fighting from him is very much exciting to me.

kinda sad no one discusses Bhagat Singh in detail. His life was truly honorable. He is a true inspiration to me as a 16 year old; showed me the path to atheism. His letters from jail (a book about it) were what got me into fighting for freedom. Seriously recommend reading about him. Other than this, this episode was really eye-opening in the sense that Mr. Sainath truly put in perspective how valuable the tribal communities were to the independence struggle.

@@ageless1003 I read his articles on PARI While you haven't learnt anything from sainath sir He just focuses on highlighting issue and never talks in negative tone about the government, that's the need of the hour now ,somewhere issue gets sidelined in expressing hatred towards the govt among some other activist ,and government replies to the hatred rather than the issue While here you are attacking me

I read Mr. Sainath's book 'Everyone Loves a Good Draught' and it resonated with me. The examples and analogues he gives from the rural heartland are exceptional and will stick with you. You will find yourself quoting it multiple times, just because the real stories are so authentic and hard hitting. Thankyou Kunal for introducing this man with the youth.

I really want to Thank Kunal for this video. I come from Sangli, which is mentioned in this video. I always wondered the heroic story behind 'Prati-Sarkar' which was so well executed in pre-independence era. I also want to thank the team to put picture of Captain Ram Bhau from "Toofan Sena" and would urge all the viewers to read more about Krantisinha Nana Patil, and role of 'Prati-Sarkar' in independence movement.

Sainath sir spoke with a lot of passion & it's like an eye opener for us that we need to recognise the unsung heroes of our freedom struggle. So beautifully spoken & presented. Thanks again for bringing alive the beautiful history of our very beautiful India.

How great a host Kunal is, like the title of the show he'd just ask questions and shut up. How important is that to allow us, the audience, to hear uninterrupted trains of thought.

The people watching your videos are genuinely interested in our country's history and the actual heroes. I watch it for the same reason. The country is deafened by the noise of corporate media which silences the call of heroes like him.

What an amazing podcast. Spelled with his words, might be the best ep ever. Keep moving forward Kunal, we understand it's tough but very few source of light left to look upon in these tough times in the country.

When I first heard him speak in 2013-2014 at the University of Hyderabad, he shared an important message that stuck with me: BJP is equivalent to congress plus cow. It's crucial that we shift our political discourse away from unnecessary topics such as Congress vs BJP, India vs Pakistan, Hindu vs Muslim, or National vs Anti-national and instead focus on rural vs urban and rich vs poor🤧

agree with u....and more importantly the concept of "discussion without biases and bigotry/ego " shd take the centre of society..basically open minded/liberal approach. Anyways, dont see it happening anytime soon considering the limited rationality we indians have due to social conditioning...quality education on large scale may do the job but then how will corporate/politicians fool public? So this scheme will never come from govt part...

After listening to this podcast, i went to read BHAGAT SINGH -THE READER again, this time when i read it, it hit differently, everything what Bhagat singh stood for has not been achieved, inequality is rising, imperialism got replaced by capitalist as he said white man will be replaced by brown men, in his times also he criticized newspapers that were communal, the solution he proposed for communalism was class consciousness of people. Even chandrashekar azad was against communalism - he said that its a propaganda of Shahi hindus and shahi muslims to divide the nation. Revolution the complete overhaul of the poltical system that Bhagat singh suggested sounds so pertinent in today's time. Be it hunger, poverty, unemployment, communalism it feels like india has come full circle. It's were we started. People who fought for india are in tears seeing this state of India.

Such an earnest person, truth and humility oozing out from him. Thanks for this highly engaging and informative podcast. This will help in debates with unreasonable people around us humbly. Thanks again !!
